NARRATOR: Between once upon a
time and happily ever after,
rivals meet and
legends are forged.
Welcome to the Great Hall of
Rivals, where we're celebrating
the legend of the cub who
would be King, and his uncle
with an eye on the throne.
A tale we've heard
many times before.
[TWINKLE]
What do you mean, two tails?
[TWINKLE]
Oh, like lion tails!
[LAUGHS] Yes, I see
what you did there.
[TWINKLE]
Now, this rivalry didn't
begin as a clash of titans.
Simba was but a small
cub when our story began,
full of innocence
and youthful energy.
[TWINKLE]
[LAUGHS] Yes, some might
say too much energy.
[ROARS]
[SPLASH]
Nevertheless, his father,
Mufasa tried to teach him
that while being born at
the top of the food chain
may have put the
lions in charge,
a true king must learn
that life isn't a chain
with one animal on top--
it's a circle where
every animal has value.
The circle of life.
[CYMBAL CRASH]
Simba may not have been
quite ready to take
that lesson in yet.
But to be fair, his uncle
hadn't learned it either.
That uncle was Simba's
future rival, Scar.
Scar felt he should
be the next king,
mostly because he considered
himself the smartest lion around
[TWINKLE]
What?
[LAUGHS] Oh, yes, yes he was
always lying around, wasn't he?
Very good.
Though, now that you mention
it, he was also lying around--
like, not telling
the truth lying.
He was constantly lying
to Simba to trick him
into dangerous situations,
which I can assure you,
was no laughing matter.
[HYENAS LAUGHING]
Then one day, Scar
did the unthinkable.
He hatched a plan
with his loyal hyenas
to get rid of both
Simba and Mufasa.
With Mufasa gone and
Simba feeling responsible,
the young prince fled.
Little did Scar know that
this push was exactly what
his young rival needed, because
there, in the wilderness,
he found Timon and Pumbaa.
They taught him about
hakuna matata, which
means "live with no worries."
And Simba loved it.
Well, maybe not at first.
But with these new friends,
Simba grew up in a way
he never would have
in the Pride Lands.
Speaking of, back
at Pride Rock, Scar
was learning his own lesson--
that ruling a kingdom
wasn't as easy as it looked.
But with no rival in
sight, Scar's reign
would continue unchallenged.
That is, until Simba's
unexpected encounters
with some old friends helped
him realize that he couldn't
ignore his past anymore.
He had to return to
Pride Rock and reclaim
the throne in what would be the
ultimate battle between rivals.
So evenly matched, so
bitterly contested,
so emotionally charged that--
[CLEARS THROAT]
We've been over this.
You can't just stop everything
when you get nervous.
[TWINKLE]
I understand, but we're
so close to the end.
[TWINKLE]
[ROAR]
So Simba beat Scar,
proving once and for all
that he did have what it
takes to be the Lion King.
While Simba may
not have been ready
at the beginning
of our story, he
learned what he needed along
the way from his father,
his friends, and yes, even his
rival, to embrace his past,
take responsibility for his
future, and most of all,
to maintain the balance
of the circle of life.
As you can see, the battle
between these two fierce rivals
turned this regular
story into a true legend.
And you know--
I'm not lion.
Yes, yes, like
