Princess means different things to
different brides.
>> I like a more kind of a silver screen
like vintage Hollywood. Okay.
>> But I've never had an intergalactic
princess before.
>> Are you guys excited to go pull out some
costumes for her today?
>> Yes.
>> Let's go.
>> All right.
Something tells me I'm going to need
more than the forest to help this bride
find her dress today. Okay. Would a
rebel princess wear this? [laughter]
>> No. You've seen Star Wars, right?
Who's the bride? That's me. [music] I'm
Miranda Wyatt. I'm 36 years old. I live
in Fort Myers, Florida.
>> Tell me who's with you today.
>> My friend Heather, my friend Yummy, my
sister Mindy, and my mom Janette.
>> So, tell me about [music] this wedding.
>> It is in 8 days.
>> How many days?
>> Eight days. So, the first time I ever
meet my fianceé, Jeff, is going to be on
my wedding day.
>> Wow. Okay. It's a very very magical
fairy book story. [music]
>> My fiance is Jeff Yodar. He lives in
Ohio. And we connected online through
mutual friends about [music] 5 months
ago. And then about a month ago, we
decided that we're meant to be together.
>> So you've never never ever like laid
eyes on him. Not in person.
After months of talking like 8 hours a
day, I'm like, "We should meet the day
we get married." And he's like, "All
right." It's magical. I mean, it's like
a divine intervention.
So, tell me what you want this dress to
look like.
>> I'm looking for something definitely
unique. Not the traditional like long
train ball [music] gown type of dress.
Y'all ready to go do this?
>> We are.
>> Let's do it. Come on.
>> With a $2,000 budget and only 8 days
until the ID dos, Miranda's only option
is buying something straight off the
sale rack.
>> Let's see what you think you might like.
>> Do you want something really fitted?
>> No.
Do you like tulle?
>> I do not like tulle.
>> Do you like ivory?
>> No.
>> No.
>> Lace.
>> Not a lace girl.
>> I believe in magic and all, but it's
going to take a whole lot more than
abracadabra to find her address.
>> I wasn't sure if I was going to find
what I was looking for.
>> When the idea of wearing silver fell
flat.
>> I'm just not crazy about that one at
all.
>> Lorie realized it's going to take
something extra special for this bride
to feel the magic. Well, if she wants
out of the box, hang loose, cuz I think
I got something.
>> Oh, let's pray for some magic.
>> I've got one dress that I'm thinking of
that has never been on the floor. Nobody
has ever tried it on. And if Miranda
wants something unforgettable,
this is the dress.
>> Hey y'all.
>> Okay, [screaming]
>> we've got a surprise.
>> It's something up our sleeve. This is
one of a kind dress. Okay.
>> Oo. Beautiful.
>> Pretty. Definitely gorgeous.
>> I knew all along I wanted to feel like a
bride, but not an average typical type
of bride.
>> Went all the way around.
>> Wow.
This is gorgeous. That's exactly what I
was going for.
My goodness.
>> Oh my gosh.
>> I cannot believe how beautiful this is.
Wow.
>> Do you think she looks like a bride now?
>> Yes. This is so you all the way. 100%.
>> It needs no alterations.
>> Oh my gosh. Are you kidding me? A bridal
dress that doesn't need any alterations.
That does not happen.
>> That is ironic and bizarre. And this was
meant to be.
>> Maybe there's something to this magic
thing. I know. I can't explain it.
>> Wow. Magical. I love the dress.
>> And you say,
>> I'm saying yes to this dress.
>> Yeah. [cheering]
>> We all could see her face and there was
no doubt. There was no going back. This
was the dress. You knew this was gonna
happen and it did.
>> That dress was me for [music] me.
Magical is the only word that fits this
whole entire story book fairy tale of
mine.
>> Hi.
>> Who's my bride? That's me.
>> My name is Jessica Black. I'm from Arab,
Alabama and I'm [music] 23 years old.
>> So, who do you have with you?
>> I have my friend Christie and my friend
[music] Kayn. This is my mom Melissa and
this is my sister Jennifer.
My fiance's name is Heath Odin. We get
down and dirty.
If it involves going outside,
we're out there doing it. We go ride
four-wheelers every weekend. We are in
the mud constantly.
>> So, tell me a little bit about your
wedding, Jessica.
>> It's very country themed. It's going to
be in a hay field. We are going to have
our four-wheelers there. We like to call
it classy redneck. [laughter]
didn't know there is a such thing as
classy and redneck.
>> Redneck chic. Maybe
there is no such thing as classy
redneck. This is a wedding. It's
supposed to be nice and formal. My
sister thinks that I can go a little
overboard with a redneck portion of it.
You're going to have people with
four-wheelers coming and mud flying
everywhere.
>> There's nothing wrong with that.
>> How do you want your dress to look? I
really like the lace, but um it also has
to match
my camo sash.
>> Interesting. [laughter]
Are we basing the dress around this?
>> I would like to. Yes. If the sash
doesn't look good with the dress, then I
probably won't use the dress.
>> So, you're going to base your decision
on a $50 sash?
>> I will not let anybody talk me out of
this sash. It's going on the dress no
matter what.
What is our budget for a dress? $1,500.
>> This bride has come on with her camo
sash.
So, I guess it's time to go hunting for
a dress.
What do you think about this?
>> I like that.
>> I think this is so country and chic.
>> Maybe not redneck enough.
>> So, what would make the dress redneck?
>> The sash. [laughter]
When a bride is planning her whole dress
around one unusual accessory,
[music]
there's bound to be some roadkill on the
runway.
>> Do you think the sash would work with
that?
>> I don't think the sash really needs to
match the dress. I am looking for
dresses that do not go with the sash.
I've always pictured her in something
more classic. Not your wedding, it's
Jessica's wedding. [music]
>> Hello, darling.
first dress.
>> Hoping to add a little elegance to bride
Jessica's classy redneck vision,
consultant Flo starts her off in an
ivory taffida dress with rouching and
floral beading.
>> I do like it.
I really like the just hints of sparkle.
I like the top of it. It's got some
pretty, you know, sparkly stuff on it.
It It's cute. [music] I need my sash.
Don't be handing me a piece of
camouflage cuz I don't know what to do
with it.
>> After several failures, Monty found her
a dress she loves. But there's only one
problem.
>> Kind of wish I could [music] see it
without the sash.
>> This is her personality. This is her
style.
>> I don't know.
>> At this point, it's a challenge. I want
to see if I can get sister on team sash.
>> What do you think about getting jacked
up?
>> Jack me up.
I'm going to try to add a little couture
to the camo. I'm going to make it work.
Maybe that will end this sister's feud.
>> The brooch really makes it more
feminine. And I really like the dress.
>> Yeah.
>> So, Jessica, what are you saying to this
dress?
>> I'm saying yes to this dress.
[screaming]
>> This dress is the most perfect [music]
dress. I feel great. Love it. My
fiance's name is Chris Lee.
We're perfect for each other. We met 6
years ago at Dragon Con here in Atlanta.
Dressed up as Luke Skywalker and
Princess Leia.
>> See, you kind of have that hair.
>> I'm a big Star Wars fan.
I love Princess Leia the most, and I
wanted to do a little hair tribute.
>> And your name's Leia. So, [laughter]
>> her birth name is Leah.
Well, she calls herself Princess Leia.
>> Yes, Leah does know the difference
between reality and the Star Wars thing
sometimes.
>> We're going to be Princess Leia as a
bride.
>> Yes,
my wedding dress is absolutely going to
be a costume. [music] She's the leader
of the rebellion princess. She's the
take charge, nononsense princess. She's
not a tiara and poofy dress princess.
>> Princess means different things to
different brides. I like a more kind of
a silver screen like vintage Hollywood.
Okay.
>> But I've never had an intergalactic
[music] princess before.
>> Well, you guys excited to go pull out
some costumes for her today?
>> Yes.
>> Let's go.
>> All right.
>> Something tells me I'm going to need
more than the forest to help this bride
find her dress today. Okay. Would a
rebel princess wear this?
>> No. You've seen Star Wars, right? I've
seen Star Wars. Let's put that back. But
it's not like I memorize it. I got to
do.
>> What about this dress?
>> Not so much. You see how it fills the
bag?
>> Yeah.
>> That's too much poof. I kind of want a
dress that I can do something with
later. To me, spending a lot of money on
a gown that I'm only going to wear for
about 9 hours.
>> Can you see this one transformed from
wedding gown to costume?
>> No. Feels wasteful. What about this?
Does this look like a This looks like
something my Barbie had in the '8s.
Not really a good thing. You can't have
a fantasy bridal moment if you're
worried about making your bridal gown
into a costume later.
>> If I can't see this costume, I can't buy
it. So,
nothing.
There's no oo and a's, no gasps,
nothing. They just sat there. So
frustrating. I like the other one
better. I have to admit.
>> I just don't like the shape of it. Leah,
does this give you the Hollywood glamour
look that you were looking for?
>> Yeah, a little bit.
>> Do you love the dress?
>> I do really like the dress.
>> If you love this dress, then you should
get the dress. Do you see yourself
walking down the aisle in this dress?
>> I could see myself definitely walking
down the aisle in this. And do you see
yourself maybe using this as a costume
later?
>> I would maybe not want to turn it into a
costume later.
>> Oh wow. I think not wanting to turn this
dress into a costume might be a little
bit of a stumbling block. I'm a little
disappointed that I'm considering this
one and I'm not like, "Oh my god, you
guys."
>> Sometimes you have to just stay away and
just let the bridal gown be a bridal
gown.
>> It is so important to me that I can see
more than just my wedding day in it.
That I can see future joy out of [music]
my dress. It is really pretty, but I
worry that it's a little too princessy.
Not the princessy.
>> When you get married, maybe you can
envision your husband 50 years from now.
But your dress, it only needs to be
perfect for one day.
>> Whatever you love, you have to embrace
it and [music] choose that one and just
go and stop there.
>> I don't know that I can do that with
this one.
Do you feel like right now you can't
make a decision?
>> Yes.
I think that's where I'm at. [music]
>> I'm here to help a bride who is going to
have a medieval themed wedding.
>> Oh, are we going to have like chicken on
the leg?
>> We're going to definitely have some of
those touches, but I'm here to remind
her that we can keep things medieval but
also keep it elegant.
>> Good. So, I brought a little special
something.
>> Oh, pretty. I actually brought a crown
for Alyssa to try on that's inspired by
Renaissance but still has some elegance
and I think it's gonna take the theme to
the next level.
>> As far as the dress goes, does she want
it like all medieval? A corset. She
definitely wants a corset.
>> Yeah. All right, let's go shopping.
Great.
>> You know, a bridal gown really is a
costume in and of itself. [music] So,
let's find a gown that she loves. She's
going to love it.
>> And she can bring that medieval theme in
through her decor and her accessories.
What do you think about this?
>> Oh my gosh, it's a medieval princess.
I am extremely excited to work with
Jennifer. Hi.
>> I would love for her to take something
nerdy like my medieval themed wedding
and turn it into something amazing.
>> You're the bride.
>> Yes. I have my mom Deborah, my matron of
honor, Jen, and [music] my friend Paige.
>> Tell us about you.
>> Me and my fiance are probably two of the
biggest nerds you'll ever meet.
[laughter]
>> That's a good thing.
>> Yeah.
>> I am engaged to Logan Grody. Alyssa and
I met about [music] oh three and a half
years ago at work. And really the reason
I love her is the way that we can be
giant nerds together.
>> Our wedding is at the Cavender [music]
Castle in Delana, Georgia. We want
everyone to feel like they've [music]
been taken back in time. So my dress has
to be a medieval gown that you would
think of when you think of that time
period. My budget for today is 3500. So
you want to look like a bride. I want to
look between something like a bride and
almost like a medieval princess.
>> Princess, I can do no problem. But
medieval princess, I'm hoping we can
kind of meet in the middle here.
>> I don't know.
>> Me thinks this could be a problem.
>> Oh my gosh.
>> Look at that smile.
>> Oh my gosh.
>> Mom, you can't speak.
>> No. [laughter]
>> Do you think it fits the theme of your
wedding? I feel like it really does
>> in an elegant way.
>> I still feel like I would love it more
if it were an A-line.
>> No, I think
>> Alyssa is so focused on looking like a
medieval princess, she's not seeing that
this dress is the holy grail. She looks
like a modern medieval bride. I think
you need to be jacked up.
>> YEAH.
OKAY,
>> YOU'RE GOING TO HELP ME, JENNIFER.
>> Oh my gosh. So, now we have this
It is so gorgeous on you. Open your
eyes.
[snorts]
I think it's perfect.
>> She loves it.
>> So, you're saying what to this dress?
>> Come say yes to the dress. [cheering]
>> I'm so appreciative of Jennifer [music]
and Lorie. They found the most perfect
dress I could ever imagine. I feel like
an elven queen. Beautiful.
>> Is there Janette down here?
>> I'm Janette.
>> What are you doing down in bridesmaid?
>> I want color for you or for your
bridesmaid?
>> For me.
>> For you. Okay. So, tell me what color.
Black.
>> I have always been in love with the
color black. I've just always been
comfortable in that color and it's just
always been the color I've been drawn
to.
>> No black.
>> No black.
>> We can have some accents of black, but
no solid black,
>> right? Me and my stepmom have to polar
opposite style. She's more of the big
hair, the bling.
>> No black. Non-traditional is fine with
me. We want Janette [music] to be
Janette, but she's just too far off the
reservation as far as being
non-conformist.
>> With the right accessories, anything can
look however you want it to.
>> Absolutely. And I want to be able to
show off my scar. What's your scar from?
>> I had open heart surgery. What?
>> I had a heart attack 8 months ago. I
started having real sharp pain down my
[music] left arm. So Jeff took me to the
ER. Then they did a double bypass.
>> They had her heart in her hand pumping
it.
>> I had [music] less than a 2% chance to
make it. A
>> she made it. Look, she's here. She's
good. [music] Right.
>> She is just a miracle. People do not
survive what she had. Now I understand
why they don't want you to [music] wear
black.
>> No, it's not a funeral. It's a wedding.
>> White and ivory is not completely
knocked out.
>> Okay. What kind of style of dress you
want?
>> Rockabilly. Rockabilly.
>> Real big into motorcycles. And
Rockabilly's like the original
motorcycle rebels.
>> Okay. [music] And they're a little bit
more classy.
>> Okay. What's your budget?
>> $2,500.
>> Do you want to go on upstairs and let's
look up there? Cuz can't have a
bridesmaid's dress for your wedding.
Let's go. Come on.
Okay, her eyes are closed.
Not being able to judge their faces
[music] to see what it all looks like
made me extremely anxious.
>> And we're going to turn you towards the
mirror.
>> All right, open your eyes.
>> Oh my god.
>> It feels like this is the dress I should
be in. It feels like this is exactly how
it should look. [music] And I just feel
gorgeous.
Why are you getting emotional?
>> Because it's a beautiful start.
This is my new beginning.
>> It's black, but okay. I thank you. Since
she had her open [music] heart surgery,
the small things that irritate you,
nobody cares about that anymore. Nothing
else matters.
>> I didn't love the dress before,
but when you come out, [music]
>> I love you in this dress.
>> Oh.
I didn't want anything to remind me of
that day,
>> but she's happy and she deserves that.
>> Come on, Dad. [music] I want to see you
with her.
>> A sweet.
>> So, Janette, what are you saying to the
dress?
>> I'm saying yes to the dress.
>> It's so much more real now having the
dress. It's been [music] the first piece
of starting my new life.
