Well well.
Good morning.
We are all packed up where are we off to today?
Bratislava, Slovakia.
Bratislava.
Alright, so we're leaving Vienna behind and we're going to be taking the train.
It is only one hour and it should be a lovely ride.
Yeah.
You know what is so cool?
I think this is the shortest ride from point A to point B that we've done in Europe all
year.
In a long time.
It is going to be such a nice short trip.
We're going to arrive fresh and ready to explore.
Oh my gosh.
Thankfully there is an elevator because the escalator is broken.
Huh.
That always seems to happen to us.
I know.
This is so heavy.
I hate having to carry it up and down stairs.
We've got way too much stuff these days.
We really could ship some things home.
We've been accumulating too much.
Too many souvenirs.
Too many souvenirs.
Too many broken electronics that we're hauling too.
Okay, so we're buying our tickets.
How many stops?
I'm not sure how many stops.
But it is just too standard tickets.
Yeah, and the standard tickets are always 2.20 and you've totally just gotten in the
way.
Haha.
Just kidding.
So yeah, it takes 5 and 10 Euros.
I hope it takes my broken bill.
Oh no, we have a broken bill that we've been trying to get rid of for a long time.
Nobody wants it.
Nobody wants it.
Nobody wants it.
Urgh.
Still having trouble with that?
I'll have to use a real bill.
Yeah, or you can use coins.
I have tonnes of coins in my wallet.
You can borrow.
Is it going to work?
No, it doesn't like the fancy bill either.
What the crap?
You keep putting it in the wrong way.
I always have to do it.
Oh, it might actually help if you picked the haha.
The amount of tickets you wanted.
That is so funny.
Oh, maybe it timed out.
Yeah.
Working now?
Yeah.
Yes.
So we're just waiting for it to spit out the tickets.
And it just did.
Awesome.
One.
Two.
And change.
Oh, we didn't get much change.
Is there anymore?
Alright, let's go to the train station.
Put first we need to validate inside the validator.
You need to punch inside the validator.
Punch.
The validator.
Alright, so riding the U-Bahn.
Yeah, so we started off on line 3 and now we're on line 1.
And we should be arriving at the station soon.
And I think I hear the train coming off in the distance.
Here it comes.
Here it comes.
So Audrey is going to go and try and print off our tickets for us.
I think we can print them out from an automatic machine here.
Tickets in hand.
So we found a little corner to hang out.
We have an hour and a half.
Yeah, we do.
And I'm going to go.
I've been tasked with the challenge of going to find us food.
Finding lunch.
I'm going to look for I've been entrusted with that.
Find us some good stuff.
Yeah.
And we're just going to hang out here and kill some time.
Haha.
Comfy?
Yes.
Sweaty?
Yes.
Tired?
All of the above.
Yes.
Urgh.
My ultimate pet peeve.
When we take out money and we get nothing but massive bills.
Two 100 Euros which are very hard to cash sometimes.
One of the many reasons I like Sam.
He goes and gets me food.
Success.
Oh my gosh.
Great success.
We have bubbly apfelsaft.
Not bubbly like wine or sparkling.
It is just like fizzy.
Apple juice.
This is one of my favorite apple juices.
It is called.
What is it called?
I can't even see it right here.
Haha.
Almdudler.
Yeah.
Original.
I would describe it is fizzy apple juice.
It has like a subtle mint hint.
I think.
I don't think so.
I find that it does.
That is how my tastebuds interpret it.
Alright, ooh.
Look at you.
You got fancy.
I got really good stuff.
So it looks like a brie.
Brie cheese sandwich.
Yep.
With some arugula and tomatoes.
And yeah.
Since we had such a sweet breakfast at the cafe this morning I didn't get any sweets.
Oh another one.
It looks like a poppy seed bread.
Show us that.
With salami.
Yum yum.
Nice one.
Nice one.
Great success.
Great success.
Now we eat.
Alright, try one of them.
Tell me how it tastes.
And I'll have the other one.
That is not even a German accent.
What kind of accent are we doing right now?
We're just being silly Sam and Audrey accents.
Great success.
Mmmm.
Good stuff?
This one is good.
Mmmm.
Yeah, and it was cheap too.
I think this all came to like just under 7 Euros for 2 sandwiches and a drink.
You can get a really good lunch in Austria and Germany at the train stations.
They have so many bakeries with like pastries, sandwiches, pizzas.
Yeah, exactly.
And that is also a budget tip if you're visiting either Germany or Austria just like when you're
actually there too.
Like if you find good bakeries you can have baked goods and then you can also go to the
grocery store and supplement that with other things.
Good budget tip.
Mister Almdudler.
I'm Almdudling with my apple juice.
Uh.
I really like that.
It has got a bit of a kick to it.
Yeah?
I'm going to miss this.
Maybe we'll find some in Bratislava.
Kind of hard to say.
Oh, this looks so good.
Mmmmm.
I love all of the seeds on the bun here.
Yeah?
And it has got meat and cheese and a little bit of lettuce.
Yeah, so we'll just be hanging out here for about an hour or so until it is time to board
the train.
It tastes really good.
Oh, and there is free wifi here at the station.
Yeah, bonus.
Awesome.
So now we just hangout in our little corner here.
So update.
On the train we have two window seats.
Yeah.
Yeah, life is good.
And they let us board nice and early too which is always cool.
Guys we just spotted our friends on train.
Our friends on the train.
Haha.
Alright guys so we got on the train.
Woo!
It was so awesome and we bumped into our friends Drew and Deanna.
We actually felt bad because we were supposed to meetup with them in Bratislava and then
we had to tell them no we don't have time and then he saw my Cubs hat on the train.
I saw the Cubs hat from a distance.
Coincidence.
Total coincidence.
Gingers and Cubs fans.
Gingers and Cubs fans.
Yeah.
So what we're going to do is we have to go to our Airbnb to drop off our stuff and then
we're going to meet up with these two again at a cafe.
Can't wait for it.
Alright.
See you guys in a bit.
See you guys soon.
Bye.
Urgh.
Well hey hey hey.
We have made it.
We've made it to the apartment.
Ah.
Had some trouble with the taximan getting here.
I know.
We got ripped off on the cab yeah.
Like it happens once in a while.
Here is funny story.
This guy said yeah we're going to run the meter and then he like hides the meter as
soon as we get all of our stuff in and he starts driving crazy.
You know what?
We should have called him out but he looked like such a sweet old man and we were like
no we can trust this guy.
Yeah.
And then he started driving like a psycho and we're like buckling up.
Yeah.
Oh my gosh.
We were more or less happy to arrive alive.
We ended up paying 13 or 14 Euros when it probably should have been 3 or 4 Euros.
Yeah.
Anyways our mistake.
It is going to be cool to meetup with Drew and Deanna again.
Yeah.
I'm just going to take a shower, put on my Cubs gear and we're going to go meet up with
them at a cafe.
So we're heading out to meet Drew and Deanna again.
And get food.
And get food.
Our search for food.
The neverending quest for our search for food.
And anyways this is only supposed to be about a nine minute walk right?
According to Google Maps.
Yes.
So we should see them really soon which is cool.
Cool, so we've met back up with Drew and Deanna.
We're having beers.
We've got our Cubs hats on.
This is so awesome.
Something really cool about Drew and I is we have so many things in common.
So like 1st Cubs and Blackhawks fans.
Cubs and Blackhawks.
Yeah.
Second, is Korea.
Korea.
We both taught English in Korea.
Not only that but we like taught in the same area.
Exactly.
It is almost the same school.
Almost the exact same school.
So crazy.
I'd think we'd have a greater chance of being struck by lightning than being in that same
area.
And you're both redheads.
Cap off.
Haha.
Haha.
It doesn't get any better than that.
Doesn't get any better than that.
Both make videos.
We both make videos.
We both like beer.
We're like besties already.
Best buds.
Haha.
Actually I've known about Nomadic Samuel for about 4 years now.
Yeah.
When I first started my blog.
You are one of the first blogs I came across.
That is really cool.
We've known each other online for like 3-4 years.
We've tried to meet up a few times.
We just missed each other in like South America.
Peru.
Yeah.
So it is so cool to finally meet up.
In Europe.
In Bratislava.
And okay so here is a question I wanted to ask you.
How many countries have you been to?
You are like totally like ahead of us.
Yeah.
I've been to a 114 countries and trying to visit every country before 2021.
So that is awesome.
How many is that?
I've got about 79 left.
79.
And most of them in Africa?
Yeah, about 52 of them.
You're going to busy man.
I'm going to be busy.
So anyways cheers to that.
Alright and where can we find Drew?
And we can find yeah.
Yeah, so I'm at Drew Binsky (@DrewBinsky) on all social media and uh facebook is where
I post all of my videos.
So check me out there.
He's like rocking it on facebook videos.
Seriously.
Not as rocking as this guy.
No no no.
Definitely.
Check out his channel.
The two redheads walking through Bratislava.
So we are back in the apartment now.
We said goodbye to our friends.
Yeah.
We did some groceries.
We did.
So we're I found a bottle of Chilean Merlot.
It was on sale for almost half price.
Well, well.
So that is what we'll be having and I got something like basically the equivalent of
After 8 mints but a local brand.
Want to show us that.
Yeah, I'll show you that.
In there.
Check it out.
This is Midnight Mints from Chocola.
Alright.
So yeah, we're going to end it here.
We've had a great day.
It was such a nice surprise to meet up with Drew and Deanna.
They are such a nice couple.
It would be cool to meet up with them again soon.
And we've just been having like a great social life of late.
Haha.
So.
We've been meeting up with so many friends.
So it has been a great surprise.
And yeah, we're really excited to explore Bratislava.
So the adventures in Bratislava begin right now.
Tata.
