You're going to find a seat right after you say hello.
Hi, guys. ALL: Hi.
How are you? ALL: Good.
Dallas Lovato has this seminar that she's
created over the years.
She teaches kids how to become a triple threat.
I will take your headshots.
Oh, I like how you have multiples.
She knows the ins and outs of the business.
I think the kids are going to really take to her.
What's going to happen is you are going to think
of a certain character.
OK, come here and tell me, but don't don't let them hear.
- (WHISPERING) Katniss. - OK.
All right.
And now you come here and think of a character.
Improvisation, which is basically
thinking on your feet, is a very common exercise
used in auditioning for roles.
This is a great skill to be good at for dancing.
I want my girls to embody the character.
Now, what's going to happen is I'm going
to set up a place for you.
You guys are on vacation visiting the Eiffel Tower.
And you are going to portray your character.
I'm excited to be improving, because I'm fabulous at improv,
and I'll kill it.
So Kalani, you come in first.
I've never been here before.
It's so beautiful.
Does anybody know where I could get a crepe or something,
for food, so I can eat this under this beautiful Eiffel
Tower?
All right, Kendall.
Excuse me.
Can I borrow your camera really quick.
Can you actually take a picture of me?
Here you go.
Can you take the picture.
Sure.
And Mackenzie.
Are you visiting?
Do you live in Paris or--
No.
What are you holding?
A notepad.
[laughter]
What are you using your notepad for?
I need to learn about the Eiffel Tower.
[laughing]
OK.
And scene.
Kendall, is that how your character
would talk about all the modern day things and stuff like that?
Would she pose like this?
Because I know your character.
Yeah.
You blanked out?
It's an audition.
I know.
So, keeping that in mind, you have to embody
your character entirely.
Then the day at the audition, you walk in
and it's like, whoa, I don't even know how to be anybody
else except this character.
--tuck and roll, we would have known exactly who you were.
OK, so, Mackenzie, where are they, and what are they doing?
OK. All right.
So one by one, who wants to go first.
- I'll go first. - OK.
And Jojo.
You so pretty lady.
Sorry, sorry.
[laughing]
[speaking korean]
I'm glad Jojo is using her Korean lessons for practice
here, but, seriously Jojo?
Could you have picked a character that is a little
more easy to distinguish? - Maddie.
[inaudible] Stop.
All right.
Good job.
Honestly, I thought that you guys
all did really, really good.
There was also a lot of things that needed to be worked on.
For example, Nia, you're really good about committing
to a character.
You just need to take that extra step
and jump a little harder into it.
OK?
Jojo, you are absolutely adorable.
Thank you.
Definitely work on the Rs, because I don't want
to see you limited as an actor.
Maddie, are you tired today? - No.
No? OK.
You look a little tired.
It seems like you're lacking a little bit of energy.
It just seems like you're just kind
of going through the motions.
And Kalani, you're stunning.
Thank you.
However, when I saw you start to walk over here, the body
language, it was too forced.
You need to relax into it a little bit more.
Mackenzie, I thought you did so good
with your little nerd character, that was so great.
One thing I will say is kind of step
outside the box a little bit.
You just need to have a little bit more faith in yourself, OK?
Awesome.
So, girls, you understand that all of that improv
is going to help you for the competition tomorrow?
That's what this is all about.
I really hope that I get the opportunity to work
with you guys again soon.
And I really hope that you learned something.
Let's go.
