- Hey guys, it's Jordan Paige with Millennial Moms,
and today we're gonna talk about group dates.
(upbeat music)
One of the questions that I seem to be getting recently
is about all of these fun group dates that we're going on,
who we bring, how we plan 'em, what we do,
so I thought I'd just do a quick video for all of you moms
out there who want to do some group dates, as well,
to help you pull it off seamlessly and oh so fun-ly.
My first tip is just do it.
So many people sit there, they're like,
"But what if nobody wants to come?
"What if it doesn't go well?
"What if people don't have fun?
"Well, this isn't the perfect weekend."
Stop it.
Just get out your phone, send a text, and do it.
Just pick a date and a time and start there.
Don't do an email, don't call people, just text.
Welcome to 2017, guys.
It's the way of communicating.
When it comes to inviting people,
you wanna think about personalities that will get along.
Everybody doesn't have to be best friends with everybody.
In fact, we recently just threw a huge group date
with 14 people and there wasn't a single couple
who knew anybody else in the group except for Bubba and I,
but by the end of the night,
everybody walked away best friends, exchanging numbers,
having a good time, so sometimes group dates
where people don't know each other are the most fun.
Now, what to do on a group date.
My tip is always have food involved
and have food come first.
We usually start out with dinner.
It's a good way to break the ice.
It gets people talking, it gives people something
to do with their hands, and let's be honest,
everybody's hungry and everybody's gotta eat.
Might as well do it as a group.
When picking a restaurant, be sure to pick a restaurant
that has lots of different options.
You don't want a specific seafood or sushi restaurant
if there are people in the group who don't like seafood,
don't like sushi, or are allergic to shellfish.
You also wanna call ahead to the restaurant
and make sure they take reservations and make sure
that they have space to accommodate your group.
My next tip is to do an activity after dinner.
Do not go to a movie.
Do not do it.
At a movie, you sit there
staring at the screen for two hours.
You can't associate with anyone.
It's not that fun.
We like to do group dates that are unique and fun.
Recently we went to dinner and then we went to a comedy club
and that was such a fun group date,
because some of our favorite group dates
have been going to concerts, going to the comedy club.
We went rollerskating one time.
We've done laser tag.
Escape rooms are super fun if you haven't done one of those.
They basically lock you in a room
and your group has to solve all these puzzles
to get out before the timer's up.
It's really fun.
Maybe not so much if you're claustrophobic.
Painting class, dance lessons.
Just do something fun, but something that's beginner level
that anybody can do no matter what their skill is
in that particular category.
At the end of your group date,
be sure to take a group picture.
I am so bad at this.
I always forget, but it is so fun and it's a good way
for everybody to connect on social media,
'cause you can tag each other and follow each other,
and then of course my personal favorite
is to take a boomerang,
because I mean, how entertaining is a boomerang?
And my last tip is just relax.
Don't put so much pressure on yourself.
Sometimes people want these group dates to be perfect
or they wanna throw a dinner party
at their house and have little name cards
and all these perfect little things.
Just relax.
People just wanna have fun.
Enjoy it, relax, and it will be a great time.
I think group dates are so important,
especially for moms because it gives you an opportunity
to get out of the house and maybe to meet new people
or to strengthen relationships with other people.
It makes life way more fun when you have friends,
and group dates are a good way to take pressure off
of one on one interaction but still have a good social time.
So there you go.
Get out there, try some group dates.
Let me know how it goes.
This is actually gonna be my last Millennial Moms video.
