Hi Easy English Learners.
We're out here on the streets of Old Town Alexandria
just outside of Washington D.C.
And we're gonna be asking people what they would do
if they won the lottery
and how this would change their life.
So we hope to get a lot of good answers
and we hope you all follow along and enjoy it.
Okay so the question today is...
What would you do if you won the lottery?
Wow! You guys start. That's you guys.
Well if I won the lottery I would definitely want to
be able to travel to see the world
and see different communities and how they live and
um... just be able to experience a life beyond our
country and our city that we live in now.
I don't know... have... have some fun but try to
show some restraint too
and kinda plan for the long haul.
Cause that what I hear is...
is a problem with lottery winners.
Give some to my family and then I would build a school
for kids with special needs.
I would take a trip around the world. - First class!
First class!
Um... I would travel the world.
And help people. I'd donate money as well...
to different causes.
Um... I think I'd buy uh...
I'd get some hookers and a lot of cocaine. -Ay!
I'm joking! I'm joking!
But uh... seriously uh... I think I would...
I'd buy a private jet... a nice house and I'd go party.
Um... donate to either to like... foster charities or
orphanages around the world.
Um... I think it's important to help children that
can't really help themselves.
You can donate my portion. -yeah!
Oh boy... okay...
I think I'd buy a place in the mountains first.
And then maybe do some good in the world as well.
I'd pay off my tuition first. -Amen
And then I would try to do a lot of charity work
in South America.
Um... Pay off my student debt.
- Oh I don't have student loans... so I don't have to...
And I'd give some to family and friends.
- Same thing.
Uh... Pay off her student loans. - Yeah...
I should do that too.
And um... Donate heavily to my church.
Once I got past the selfish part of traveling
and seeing some of the world I would definitely uh...
help the family and extended family.
I mean of course I have to be the greedy one...
and be like... Well you know I'd get a...
First I'd get myself a really nice fast car.
And then I'd... And a nice motorcycle.
And then I'd use the motorcycle and do a world tour
of the United States... or uh...
round tour of the United States on... on a motorcycle.
Cause I think it'd be awesome.
I'd get him a motorcycle and take him with me.
(strong southern U.S. accent) I'd probably take a vacation.
And how do you think this would change your life...
having all this financial wealth?
Um... You would think that it would be really great...
I mean... having a lot of money.
But I'm sure it comes with a lot of problems.
You know... I'm sure people would come outta nowhere...
You know... try to get something... You know...
Find... Become my friend or try to get something from me.
So... It could probably be a little bit of added pressure
I would think.
Money is always an issue. So...
And plus it would help all my children.
(British accent) I don't think it would change our life at all.
No... In fact... we'd wonder what to do with it all.
And it'd be a problem.
(strong southern U.S. accent) It would uh...
It would lose... It would cost us our privacy - yes
probably. And I wouldn't like that.
Um... I wouldn't have to worry about bills... my morgage.
Just need somebody to take care of her so I can travel.
I... I... I know people get like... too like...
carried away with that...
That's why I would rather do something that's not like...
more for like... me I guess. Cause then...
I don't wanna get into the whole like...
go crazy over the money thing.
There'd be a little less stress.
Well... I'd hope it would be a positive influence and
not... not be too bad but... and make me uh...
more selfish but I hope that I could use it
to help other people.
That's a good question. I mean maybe I'll be happier
cause I'll be able to do things I wanna do... you know.
I won't have student debt.
I'll be able to own a business.
I'll be able to help others in my life.
I think that I would have relatives
coming out of the woodwork... that all of a sudden
would decide I'm their favorite cousin...
their favorite niece... their favorite Aunt and Uncle.
And um... I would have to go in hiding for a little bit.
Just to... you know... keep a low profile.
- I would be one of those people.
You would come find me? -Just so you know.
Okay... Well I will remember you... Okay?
Uh... I'd be funner (more fun).
It'd be nice to have that much money.
