Hi everyone. Welcome back to Podcast and 00:10
Chill. I'm Leo 00:13
>> and I'm Gwen. I hope everyone is having 00:14
a good day because today we will 00:18
>> uh Gwen, do you think I'm good-looking? 00:22
Leo, 00:26
what? 00:28
Where did that come from? 00:29
>> It's just I've been thinking. Many 00:32
people think you need a perfect face or 00:35
expensive things to look good. But I 00:38
don't have money for expensive things 00:40
and I can't change my face. So, does 00:43
that mean I can never look good? 00:46
>> Leo, first of all, you look fine. and 00:48
surprise. 00:55
That is our topic today. 00:56
>> Really? 00:59
>> Yeah. Everyone wants to look good every 01:00
day, but most people don't know where to 01:03
start. 01:06
So, today we're talking about eight 01:08
things that make anyone look better with 01:11
just small details. 01:14
>> Anyone? 01:16
>> Yep. Men, women, anyone. It's cheap, 01:17
easy to do, and you don't need to wait 01:22
to see a change. 01:25
>> That sounds perfect for me. 01:26
>> All right. Are you ready for the first 01:28
one? 01:30
>> Yes. Gwen, teach us the secret. 01:31
>> Since you want to look better without 01:37
changing your face or buying anything, 01:39
let's begin with the simplest change, 01:42
>> which is 01:46
>> your posture. 01:47
>> Posture. You mean how I stand and sit? 01:49
>> Yes. 01:53
So, if anyone listening is sitting with 01:54
a bent back right now, 01:57
>> sit up straight, please. 02:00
>> Okay. Okay. I'm sitting straight. But 02:03
Gwen, how does standing up straight make 02:06
me look better? 02:08
>> When someone always looks down, 02:10
shoulders forward, back bent, 02:12
what do you think? 02:16
Hm. I guess they look tired or maybe 02:18
sad. 02:21
>> Exactly. 02:22
Bad posture makes you look like you're 02:24
very tired and have no confidence at 02:26
all. 02:29
>> And does good posture help? 02:30
>> Uh-huh. 02:33
Good posture makes you look confident, 02:34
healthy, and even a little taller. About 02:37
2 or 3 cm. 02:41
>> No way. So, all I need to do is just 02:44
stand up straight. 02:47
>> Just keep your shoulders a little back, 02:48
your chin up, and don't bend your back. 02:51
It's simple. 02:54
>> That's it. 02:56
>> That's it. People will see you as more 02:57
confident, and you don't even need to 03:00
say anything. 03:02
>> Oh, I will sit straight all day today. 03:04
Maybe I can look taller than you on 03:07
camera. 03:09
>> Leo, you are already taller than me. 03:10
Relax. 03:14
>> Well, now I want to be even taller. 03:17
>> Fine, whatever you like. 03:20
>> To be honest, that sounds easy, but I 03:23
always forget after 2 minutes, 03:26
especially when I'm sitting. How can I 03:28
remember? 03:30
>> Put a small note on your computer that 03:31
says, "Sit straight." Or every time you 03:34
look at the clock on the wall, fix your 03:38
posture. Use things you always see as 03:40
your reminder. 03:44
>> Oh, okay. Just use things around me. 03:46
>> I can help you remember, too. I will 03:49
just look at you straight in the eyes 03:52
every time I see you sit wrong. 03:54
>> Please don't. That would be so weird. 03:57
>> Haha. All right. Once your posture looks 04:00
good, there's something else people 04:04
notice fast, and that's looking clean. 04:06
Looking clean. I take a shower every 04:11
day. I'm very clean. 04:14
>> I know. I know. But it's the small 04:16
things. Let's start with your hair and 04:19
eyebrows. 04:22
>> What's wrong with them? 04:23
>> Oh, nothing. Just keep it clean and not 04:24
crazy. 04:28
A person with good hair tells people, "I 04:30
know how to take care of myself." 04:33
>> Ooh. What about eyebrows? Please don't 04:36
tell me I have to do something with 04:39
these two. 04:41
>> You don't need to change them. Just 04:42
clean the extra hairs. Need eyebrows 04:45
actually help shape your face better. 04:48
>> So, attack the lonely hairs. 04:51
>> You can say that. And don't forget to 04:54
wash your face. A clean face gives you a 04:57
real glow up. 05:01
>> What does glow up mean? 05:04
>> It means looking much better. Like your 05:06
face is shining. Fresh skin makes you 05:09
look awake and healthy. 05:12
>> H I do wash my face though. 05:15
>> Washing with water is good but using a 05:19
face wash is better. It takes away the 05:22
bad oil. 05:25
>> My face makes bad oil. 05:27
>> Uh no. Our skin has natural oil, but 05:29
during the day that oil mixes with dirt 05:35
and sweat from outside. 05:39
So we call that mix bad oil. It can 05:42
block your pores. You know those tiny 05:45
holes and cause pimples. 05:48
>> Ah, got it. But then why does my face 05:51
get so oily in the first place? 05:54
>> Well, your skin needs both oil and water 05:56
to be happy. When you wash your face, 06:00
you take away the bad oil, but you also 06:04
take away some good water. This can make 06:07
your skin dry. 06:10
>> So, if my skin is dry, 06:12
>> it will try to protect itself by making 06:14
more oil. That's why it gets oily again 06:16
so fast. 06:20
>> The face wash cleans, but it also makes 06:21
my skin dry. Gwen, this is so confusing. 06:24
>> I know. That's when you use the face 06:29
cream right after. 06:32
>> What does the cream do? 06:34
>> The cream puts the good water back. It 06:36
will stay calm and won't need to make so 06:39
much extra oil to protect itself. No 06:41
more angry, oily skin. 06:44
>> Oh, I never thought about that. 06:48
>> Yeah, you probably should now. And one 06:50
more thing, your nails. 06:53
>> Not my nails. Nobody sees my nails. 06:56
Everybody sees Leo, you must keep your 06:59
nails clean and cut short. Dirty nails 07:02
are one of the first things people 07:05
notice. 07:07
>> Wow. Hair, eyebrows, face, nails, so 07:08
many rules just to be clean. 07:13
>> But it works. 07:17
And the good thing is it's all easy and 07:19
cheap. 07:22
You like cheap, right, Leo? 07:24
Okay, you got me there. My wallet is 07:27
happy. So, what's next? 07:29
>> Next is actually a fun one. Your smell. 07:32
>> Yes, my favorite. I have a very good 07:37
perfume. 07:40
>> I know. Sometimes 07:41
I can smell you before I see you. 07:44
>> Really? 07:48
>> That's not always a good thing, Leo. 07:49
>> Oh, 07:52
>> yeah. 07:53
People can forget what clothes you wore, 07:54
but they will always remember how you 07:57
smell. 08:00
>> That's a little scary. 08:02
>> Don't worry, it's a good thing. It just 08:03
means you need to know how to do it 08:06
right. Always use the smell blocker 08:07
first because perfume cannot stop sweat. 08:11
>> Ah, I usually just use only perfume and 08:15
done. 08:18
>> That's a mistake many people make. 08:19
Perfume and sweat together 08:22
not good. No matter how strong your 08:25
perfume is, the sweat will make a bad 08:28
smell. That's why smell blockers are so 08:32
important. 08:36
>> Right? So, stop the sweat first, then 08:37
perfume. 08:40
>> Not yet. A little skin cream, then the 08:41
perfume. If your skin is dry, the smell 08:46
goes away fast. If you put body cream 08:50
on, the smell stays for a long time. 08:53
>> So, smell blocker, then body cream for 08:57
happy skin, then my perfume. 09:00
>> Perfect. 09:03
And here's a tip to make the perfume 09:05
last longer. Put a tiny bit of Vaseline 09:07
on your wrists or neck before you use 09:11
perfume. It helps the smell stay on your 09:14
skin longer. 09:17
>> That's a cool trick. I'm going to try 09:19
that tomorrow. 09:22
>> Great. And remember, [snorts] the goal 09:23
is for people to smell you only when 09:26
they're close. 09:29
>> What do you mean? 09:31
>> Well, you don't want a repeat of I can 09:32
smell you before I see you, do you? 09:36
>> Oh, right. That was a bad thing. 09:40
>> Too much perfume can be too strong and 09:43
give people a headache. You want a light 09:45
secret smell. 09:49
Just one or two sprays. 09:51
>> Yes. You want people to remember you, 09:53
not run away from you. 09:56
>> Haha, got it. No more smelling me before 09:58
seeing me. 10:02
>> Good. My nose is safe now. But you know 10:03
what I will see from far away? 10:07
>> Um, face. No, it's clothes, right? 10:10
>> Bingo. 10:16
Clothes. Gwen, 10:18
please remember that I don't have money 10:21
to buy new clothes all the time. 10:23
>> I'm not saying you need to buy new or 10:25
fancy clothes. What's important is 10:27
making sure your clothes are clean and 10:31
fit your body well. Not too big, not too 10:33
small. 10:37
>> But I like big shirts. They are 10:39
comfortable. 10:41
>> Comfortable is good, but a big shirt can 10:42
make you look messy. Try clothes that 10:45
are comfortable but fit your size. A 10:48
shirt with the right size makes you look 10:52
much better. 10:55
>> Does it still work with a cheap t-shirt? 10:56
>> Correct. I'm wearing a simple shirt 10:59
right now. Do I look nice to you? 11:02
>> Yeah, you do. But I always thought 11:05
that's just because you're, you know, 11:08
Gwen. You always look perfect. 11:10
>> No, Leo. It's because I choose the right 11:14
size. 11:17
Also, fit doesn't mean tight. The 11:19
clothes must look like they are made for 11:23
your body. The shoulder part of the 11:25
shirt should sit on your shoulder, not 11:28
down your arm. 11:31
>> Just buy the right size. Anything else 11:32
about clothes? 11:35
>> Yes. Choose colors that match your skin 11:36
tone. They make your face look bright. 11:39
How do I know what colors match my skin? 11:43
>> Well, if you have warm skin, wear warm 11:46
colors like orange, yellow, brown. If 11:50
you have cool skin, wear cool colors 11:54
like blue, purple, green. 11:57
>> I have no idea if my skin is warm or 12:01
cool. 12:04
>> Don't worry too much about it. Just pay 12:04
attention to which colors make you look 12:07
healthy and which ones make you look 12:09
tired. 12:11
>> Ah, that makes sense. Try different 12:13
colors and see what works. 12:16
>> Exactly. 12:18
And you know what's interesting? 12:20
When you feel good about how you look on 12:23
the outside, 12:26
it can change how you feel on the 12:27
inside. And that feeling is what we call 12:30
your energy. 12:35
>> You are joking, right? Energy? 12:37
>> No, I'm serious. 12:40
I'm talking about your attitude. 12:42
It's the feeling people get from you 12:45
even before you speak. 12:47
>> What kind of feeling? 12:50
>> If you are always thinking, "Oh, life is 12:52
bad. This is bad. That is bad." And you 12:55
complain a lot. People will feel that 12:59
heavy energy. People won't find you 13:02
good-looking at all, no matter how great 13:05
you look. 13:07
>> Oh, so if I complain a lot, people go 13:09
away. 13:13
>> Obviously, 13:14
nobody wants to be close to a person 13:16
with that kind of energy. It's tiring. 13:18
But if you are positive and happy, 13:23
people feel comfortable and safe. 13:27
They want to be close to you. 13:31
>> I can't believe my happy attitude is 13:33
more beautiful than my cold, sad one. 13:36
>> Well, a cold, sad face might look cool 13:39
in photos until they open their mouth 13:43
with all those bad complaining things. 13:46
>> Yikes. I understand it now. My energy 13:50
can affect other people's energy. But 13:54
Gwen, what should I do when I want to 13:56
complain? I can't just be happy all the 13:59
time. 14:03
>> Try to say one good thing first. For 14:04
example, instead of I'm tired and work 14:07
is bad, you can say, "I'm tired, but the 14:11
coffee is good today." It's a small 14:15
change, but it helps your brain think in 14:18
a better way. So, I'm not lying about 14:21
being tired, but I'm adding something 14:24
positive. 14:27
>> Yes. 14:28
You're changing the energy from bad to 14:29
good. And when people feel that good 14:32
energy around you, they like you more. 14:36
>> Wow, that's really interesting. I never 14:40
thought about it this way. 14:42
>> Most people don't. They think it's all 14:44
about looks. 14:47
Well, guess what? One of the easiest 14:49
ways to show that energy we just talked 14:52
about is to walk like a boss. 14:54
>> Haha. Gwen, what the 14:57
>> I mean walk with purpose like you know 15:00
where you are going. It's a way to show 15:03
you are confident. 15:06
>> What if I'm nervous? 15:08
>> Then don't show it. 15:10
>> Isn't that like lying? 15:12
>> No, it's not lying. It's about how you 15:15
carry yourself. Just walk like you are 15:19
the boss. Walk like you have somewhere 15:23
to be and you're not wasting time. Even 15:26
if you don't know where to go. 15:30
>> Ah, fake it till you make it. 15:32
>> Exactly. 15:35
People only know what you show them. If 15:36
you walk confidently, they will think, 15:39
"Oh, wow." 15:43
And when people think you are confident, 15:45
you start to feel more confident. 15:48
>> So my mind starts to believe what my 15:51
body is doing. That's so smart. 15:53
>> Yes. It's like magic. Fake confidence 15:56
today and you will have real confidence 16:01
tomorrow. 16:04
>> All right. All right. I like that. Just 16:06
stand straight. Walk strong. Look in 16:09
front of me, not at the floor. 16:12
>> Now you're getting it. Your body looks 16:15
confident. Let's make sure your face 16:18
matches that feeling. Just smile and 16:20
look people in the eyes. 16:23
>> Oh, these are things I'm actually good 16:26
at. I smile a lot. 16:28
>> That's great, Leo. 16:31
Smiling makes you look friendly, kind, 16:33
and confident. 16:37
Just smiling does all that? 16:40
>> Yeah. Science shows that people like a 16:42
smiling face more. 16:46
>> Huh. That sounds a lot like the happy 16:48
energy we talked about before. 16:51
>> That's right. That good energy is what 16:54
you feel. Your smile is what you show. 16:57
It's how people know you have that 17:01
positive energy. 17:04
>> Ooh, cool. So my smile is like the 17:06
signal. 17:09
>> It's the signal you send without saying 17:10
a word. 17:12
>> What about looking at their eyes? 17:14
>> It shows you are confident. You are 17:16
listening and not scared to look at 17:19
people. 17:22
>> But if I look too long, it is weird, 17:23
right? I don't want to be the crazy eye 17:26
man. 17:29
>> That's staring. Don't do it. Just look 17:29
for one second longer than you feel 17:33
comfortable. Then look away. 17:35
>> One second longer than normal. How do I 17:37
know what's normal? 17:40
>> Just try it. When someone is talking to 17:41
you, look at their eyes. Count to three 17:45
in your head, then look away. That's it. 17:48
>> Okay, I'm going to practice this. It 17:52
just keeps getting better and better. 17:55
>> I'm happy you think so. And for our 17:57
final one, the most powerful. Listen and 18:00
be kind. 18:05
>> Wait, you're telling me all this time 18:06
the real secret was just being a good 18:10
person? 18:13
>> That's right, Leo. Your personality is 18:14
the final key. 18:18
>> How so? 18:20
>> When you listen while people are 18:21
talking, they feel important and they 18:23
will connect that good feeling to you. 18:27
>> I make people feel good by listening to 18:31
them. They'll like me more. 18:33
>> Yeah. Small acts of kindness will stay 18:35
in people's minds longer than any 18:38
clothes you wear. 18:40
>> Can you give me an example? 18:42
>> Sure. Your friend is talking about their 18:44
day. Right. Instead of looking at your 18:47
phone or thinking about what you'll say 18:52
next, really listen to them. Just look 18:54
at them. Nod. Ask questions about what 18:58
they're saying. 19:01
Show that you care. 19:03
>> Wow. People remember how I make them 19:06
feel. 19:09
>> And if you make them feel heard and 19:10
valued, they'll want to be around you. 19:13
That alone can be more beautiful than a 19:16
perfect face. 19:19
I get it now, Gwen. Looking good is not 19:23
just about the outside. It's about the 19:27
inside, too. Well, you're almost right. 19:29
It's about both, you know. Let's do a 19:32
quick reminder for everyone. You don't 19:36
need to change everything about 19:38
yourself. 19:40
>> Just a few small things are enough to 19:41
change how other people see you. 19:44
>> Being good-looking isn't just about nice 19:46
clothes or being perfect. It's about 19:49
being clean, having good energy, and 19:52
making people feel good when they're 19:56
around you. 19:58
So, here's my challenge to everyone 20:00
listening. Choose one thing from these 20:02
eight things to try today. Just one. 20:05
Maybe stand up straight, smile more, or 20:08
really listen when someone talks to you. 20:12
The effect will come faster than you 20:15
think. 20:18
>> Remember, you don't need to be rich or 20:19
perfect to look good. You just need to 20:22
care about yourself and others. These 20:25
eight things are all free or very cheap. 20:28
They work for everyone, no matter who 20:33
you are. 20:35
>> So, try one today. See how it feels. See 20:37
how people react differently to you. 20:40
>> And if you want to share which one 20:43
you're going to try, leave us a comment. 20:45
We love reading your thoughts. 20:48
>> Thank you so much for listening to 20:51

[English]
Hi everyone. Welcome back to Podcast and
Chill. I'm Leo
>> and I'm Gwen. I hope everyone is having
a good day because today we will
>> uh Gwen, do you think I'm good-looking?
Leo,
what?
Where did that come from?
>> It's just I've been thinking. Many
people think you need a perfect face or
expensive things to look good. But I
don't have money for expensive things
and I can't change my face. So, does
that mean I can never look good?
>> Leo, first of all, you look fine. and
surprise.
That is our topic today.
>> Really?
>> Yeah. Everyone wants to look good every
day, but most people don't know where to
start.
So, today we're talking about eight
things that make anyone look better with
just small details.
>> Anyone?
>> Yep. Men, women, anyone. It's cheap,
easy to do, and you don't need to wait
to see a change.
>> That sounds perfect for me.
>> All right. Are you ready for the first
one?
>> Yes. Gwen, teach us the secret.
>> Since you want to look better without
changing your face or buying anything,
let's begin with the simplest change,
>> which is
>> your posture.
>> Posture. You mean how I stand and sit?
>> Yes.
So, if anyone listening is sitting with
a bent back right now,
>> sit up straight, please.
>> Okay. Okay. I'm sitting straight. But
Gwen, how does standing up straight make
me look better?
>> When someone always looks down,
shoulders forward, back bent,
what do you think?
Hm. I guess they look tired or maybe
sad.
>> Exactly.
Bad posture makes you look like you're
very tired and have no confidence at
all.
>> And does good posture help?
>> Uh-huh.
Good posture makes you look confident,
healthy, and even a little taller. About
2 or 3 cm.
>> No way. So, all I need to do is just
stand up straight.
>> Just keep your shoulders a little back,
your chin up, and don't bend your back.
It's simple.
>> That's it.
>> That's it. People will see you as more
confident, and you don't even need to
say anything.
>> Oh, I will sit straight all day today.
Maybe I can look taller than you on
camera.
>> Leo, you are already taller than me.
Relax.
>> Well, now I want to be even taller.
>> Fine, whatever you like.
>> To be honest, that sounds easy, but I
always forget after 2 minutes,
especially when I'm sitting. How can I
remember?
>> Put a small note on your computer that
says, "Sit straight." Or every time you
look at the clock on the wall, fix your
posture. Use things you always see as
your reminder.
>> Oh, okay. Just use things around me.
>> I can help you remember, too. I will
just look at you straight in the eyes
every time I see you sit wrong.
>> Please don't. That would be so weird.
>> Haha. All right. Once your posture looks
good, there's something else people
notice fast, and that's looking clean.
Looking clean. I take a shower every
day. I'm very clean.
>> I know. I know. But it's the small
things. Let's start with your hair and
eyebrows.
>> What's wrong with them?
>> Oh, nothing. Just keep it clean and not
crazy.
A person with good hair tells people, "I
know how to take care of myself."
>> Ooh. What about eyebrows? Please don't
tell me I have to do something with
these two.
>> You don't need to change them. Just
clean the extra hairs. Need eyebrows
actually help shape your face better.
>> So, attack the lonely hairs.
>> You can say that. And don't forget to
wash your face. A clean face gives you a
real glow up.
>> What does glow up mean?
>> It means looking much better. Like your
face is shining. Fresh skin makes you
look awake and healthy.
>> H I do wash my face though.
>> Washing with water is good but using a
face wash is better. It takes away the
bad oil.
>> My face makes bad oil.
>> Uh no. Our skin has natural oil, but
during the day that oil mixes with dirt
and sweat from outside.
So we call that mix bad oil. It can
block your pores. You know those tiny
holes and cause pimples.
>> Ah, got it. But then why does my face
get so oily in the first place?
>> Well, your skin needs both oil and water
to be happy. When you wash your face,
you take away the bad oil, but you also
take away some good water. This can make
your skin dry.
>> So, if my skin is dry,
>> it will try to protect itself by making
more oil. That's why it gets oily again
so fast.
>> The face wash cleans, but it also makes
my skin dry. Gwen, this is so confusing.
>> I know. That's when you use the face
cream right after.
>> What does the cream do?
>> The cream puts the good water back. It
will stay calm and won't need to make so
much extra oil to protect itself. No
more angry, oily skin.
>> Oh, I never thought about that.
>> Yeah, you probably should now. And one
more thing, your nails.
>> Not my nails. Nobody sees my nails.
Everybody sees Leo, you must keep your
nails clean and cut short. Dirty nails
are one of the first things people
notice.
>> Wow. Hair, eyebrows, face, nails, so
many rules just to be clean.
>> But it works.
And the good thing is it's all easy and
cheap.
You like cheap, right, Leo?
Okay, you got me there. My wallet is
happy. So, what's next?
>> Next is actually a fun one. Your smell.
>> Yes, my favorite. I have a very good
perfume.
>> I know. Sometimes
I can smell you before I see you.
>> Really?
>> That's not always a good thing, Leo.
>> Oh,
>> yeah.
People can forget what clothes you wore,
but they will always remember how you
smell.
>> That's a little scary.
>> Don't worry, it's a good thing. It just
means you need to know how to do it
right. Always use the smell blocker
first because perfume cannot stop sweat.
>> Ah, I usually just use only perfume and
done.
>> That's a mistake many people make.
Perfume and sweat together
not good. No matter how strong your
perfume is, the sweat will make a bad
smell. That's why smell blockers are so
important.
>> Right? So, stop the sweat first, then
perfume.
>> Not yet. A little skin cream, then the
perfume. If your skin is dry, the smell
goes away fast. If you put body cream
on, the smell stays for a long time.
>> So, smell blocker, then body cream for
happy skin, then my perfume.
>> Perfect.
And here's a tip to make the perfume
last longer. Put a tiny bit of Vaseline
on your wrists or neck before you use
perfume. It helps the smell stay on your
skin longer.
>> That's a cool trick. I'm going to try
that tomorrow.
>> Great. And remember, [snorts] the goal
is for people to smell you only when
they're close.
>> What do you mean?
>> Well, you don't want a repeat of I can
smell you before I see you, do you?
>> Oh, right. That was a bad thing.
>> Too much perfume can be too strong and
give people a headache. You want a light
secret smell.
Just one or two sprays.
>> Yes. You want people to remember you,
not run away from you.
>> Haha, got it. No more smelling me before
seeing me.
>> Good. My nose is safe now. But you know
what I will see from far away?
>> Um, face. No, it's clothes, right?
>> Bingo.
Clothes. Gwen,
please remember that I don't have money
to buy new clothes all the time.
>> I'm not saying you need to buy new or
fancy clothes. What's important is
making sure your clothes are clean and
fit your body well. Not too big, not too
small.
>> But I like big shirts. They are
comfortable.
>> Comfortable is good, but a big shirt can
make you look messy. Try clothes that
are comfortable but fit your size. A
shirt with the right size makes you look
much better.
>> Does it still work with a cheap t-shirt?
>> Correct. I'm wearing a simple shirt
right now. Do I look nice to you?
>> Yeah, you do. But I always thought
that's just because you're, you know,
Gwen. You always look perfect.
>> No, Leo. It's because I choose the right
size.
Also, fit doesn't mean tight. The
clothes must look like they are made for
your body. The shoulder part of the
shirt should sit on your shoulder, not
down your arm.
>> Just buy the right size. Anything else
about clothes?
>> Yes. Choose colors that match your skin
tone. They make your face look bright.
How do I know what colors match my skin?
>> Well, if you have warm skin, wear warm
colors like orange, yellow, brown. If
you have cool skin, wear cool colors
like blue, purple, green.
>> I have no idea if my skin is warm or
cool.
>> Don't worry too much about it. Just pay
attention to which colors make you look
healthy and which ones make you look
tired.
>> Ah, that makes sense. Try different
colors and see what works.
>> Exactly.
And you know what's interesting?
When you feel good about how you look on
the outside,
it can change how you feel on the
inside. And that feeling is what we call
your energy.
>> You are joking, right? Energy?
>> No, I'm serious.
I'm talking about your attitude.
It's the feeling people get from you
even before you speak.
>> What kind of feeling?
>> If you are always thinking, "Oh, life is
bad. This is bad. That is bad." And you
complain a lot. People will feel that
heavy energy. People won't find you
good-looking at all, no matter how great
you look.
>> Oh, so if I complain a lot, people go
away.
>> Obviously,
nobody wants to be close to a person
with that kind of energy. It's tiring.
But if you are positive and happy,
people feel comfortable and safe.
They want to be close to you.
>> I can't believe my happy attitude is
more beautiful than my cold, sad one.
>> Well, a cold, sad face might look cool
in photos until they open their mouth
with all those bad complaining things.
>> Yikes. I understand it now. My energy
can affect other people's energy. But
Gwen, what should I do when I want to
complain? I can't just be happy all the
time.
>> Try to say one good thing first. For
example, instead of I'm tired and work
is bad, you can say, "I'm tired, but the
coffee is good today." It's a small
change, but it helps your brain think in
a better way. So, I'm not lying about
being tired, but I'm adding something
positive.
>> Yes.
You're changing the energy from bad to
good. And when people feel that good
energy around you, they like you more.
>> Wow, that's really interesting. I never
thought about it this way.
>> Most people don't. They think it's all
about looks.
Well, guess what? One of the easiest
ways to show that energy we just talked
about is to walk like a boss.
>> Haha. Gwen, what the
>> I mean walk with purpose like you know
where you are going. It's a way to show
you are confident.
>> What if I'm nervous?
>> Then don't show it.
>> Isn't that like lying?
>> No, it's not lying. It's about how you
carry yourself. Just walk like you are
the boss. Walk like you have somewhere
to be and you're not wasting time. Even
if you don't know where to go.
>> Ah, fake it till you make it.
>> Exactly.
People only know what you show them. If
you walk confidently, they will think,
"Oh, wow."
And when people think you are confident,
you start to feel more confident.
>> So my mind starts to believe what my
body is doing. That's so smart.
>> Yes. It's like magic. Fake confidence
today and you will have real confidence
tomorrow.
>> All right. All right. I like that. Just
stand straight. Walk strong. Look in
front of me, not at the floor.
>> Now you're getting it. Your body looks
confident. Let's make sure your face
matches that feeling. Just smile and
look people in the eyes.
>> Oh, these are things I'm actually good
at. I smile a lot.
>> That's great, Leo.
Smiling makes you look friendly, kind,
and confident.
Just smiling does all that?
>> Yeah. Science shows that people like a
smiling face more.
>> Huh. That sounds a lot like the happy
energy we talked about before.
>> That's right. That good energy is what
you feel. Your smile is what you show.
It's how people know you have that
positive energy.
>> Ooh, cool. So my smile is like the
signal.
>> It's the signal you send without saying
a word.
>> What about looking at their eyes?
>> It shows you are confident. You are
listening and not scared to look at
people.
>> But if I look too long, it is weird,
right? I don't want to be the crazy eye
man.
>> That's staring. Don't do it. Just look
for one second longer than you feel
comfortable. Then look away.
>> One second longer than normal. How do I
know what's normal?
>> Just try it. When someone is talking to
you, look at their eyes. Count to three
in your head, then look away. That's it.
>> Okay, I'm going to practice this. It
just keeps getting better and better.
>> I'm happy you think so. And for our
final one, the most powerful. Listen and
be kind.
>> Wait, you're telling me all this time
the real secret was just being a good
person?
>> That's right, Leo. Your personality is
the final key.
>> How so?
>> When you listen while people are
talking, they feel important and they
will connect that good feeling to you.
>> I make people feel good by listening to
them. They'll like me more.
>> Yeah. Small acts of kindness will stay
in people's minds longer than any
clothes you wear.
>> Can you give me an example?
>> Sure. Your friend is talking about their
day. Right. Instead of looking at your
phone or thinking about what you'll say
next, really listen to them. Just look
at them. Nod. Ask questions about what
they're saying.
Show that you care.
>> Wow. People remember how I make them
feel.
>> And if you make them feel heard and
valued, they'll want to be around you.
That alone can be more beautiful than a
perfect face.
I get it now, Gwen. Looking good is not
just about the outside. It's about the
inside, too. Well, you're almost right.
It's about both, you know. Let's do a
quick reminder for everyone. You don't
need to change everything about
yourself.
>> Just a few small things are enough to
change how other people see you.
>> Being good-looking isn't just about nice
clothes or being perfect. It's about
being clean, having good energy, and
making people feel good when they're
around you.
So, here's my challenge to everyone
listening. Choose one thing from these
eight things to try today. Just one.
Maybe stand up straight, smile more, or
really listen when someone talks to you.
The effect will come faster than you
think.
>> Remember, you don't need to be rich or
perfect to look good. You just need to
care about yourself and others. These
eight things are all free or very cheap.
They work for everyone, no matter who
you are.
>> So, try one today. See how it feels. See
how people react differently to you.
>> And if you want to share which one
you're going to try, leave us a comment.
We love reading your thoughts.

Key Grammar Structures

  • Does that mean I can never look good?

➔ Modal verb 'can' with 'never' for possibility/ability.

➔ The word 'can' shows ability or possibility, and 'never' makes it negative, meaning 'not possible at all'.

  • If you have cool skin, wear cool colors like blue, purple, green.

    ➔ Conditional sentence (type 1): 'If + present simple, + imperative/advice'.

➔ The phrase 'If you have cool skin' expresses a condition, and 'wear cool colors' gives advice depending on that condition.

  • People will see you as more confident.

➔ Future simple tense: 'will + verb'.

➔ The use of 'will' shows a prediction or result in the future — people will perceive confidence later.

  • Try to say one good thing first.

➔ Infinitive with 'to': 'to + verb' after 'try'.

➔ The phrase 'try to say' means 'make an effort to say'; the infinitive expresses the purpose of trying.

  • You don't need to change your face or buy anything.

➔ Negative form with 'don't need to' for lack of necessity.

➔ Using 'don't need to' means there is no necessity to do something; it's optional.

  • It's about both, you know.

➔ Cleft-like emphasis with 'it is about' to highlight a topic.

➔ The phrase 'It's about both' emphasizes the balance between two ideas — inner and outer qualities.

  • People can forget what clothes you wore, but they will always remember how you smell.

➔ Contrast using 'but' and modal/future verbs 'can' and 'will'.

➔ The sentence contrasts temporary memory ('can forget') with permanent impression ('will always remember').

  • Fake confidence today and you will have real confidence tomorrow.

➔ Zero conditional using imperative + future result.

➔ The first clause 'Fake confidence today' functions as an instruction, causing the future result in the next clause.
