7 disney   00:26
imagine how that is, when a little black  girl sees this, like how will she react 00:28
8 tired   00:32
trope of the sassy black girl, and  disney has a problem with this ark 00:33
9 I’m tired of it,   00:40
you know how hollywood is  about mono-racial black girls 00:41
10 you know how   00:44
disney is about them too,  they’re not exempt from this 00:45
11  01:07

35  03:41
we didn’t to go live last week because  of all the mess with the election  03:41
yeah pack your bags mister  man you’re going to jail 03:45
36 but yeah   03:48
all the mess with the election i didn’t  get around to doing these livestreams for  03:49
last week, so we are going  to be doing one this week 03:54
37 and the great thing about younow, is that i get to   03:56
talk to you guys live it will be broadcasted live here on my channel through younow. we can just   03:59
talk about whatever we want  so, yeah that’s a fun thing 04:04
38 my shirt is like soaking wet. do y’all   04:08
see this, this is embarrassing. this is very embarrasing, what- i need to do better 04:11
39 now i know   04:17
y’all have been begging me for that liv & maddie  video y’all. that liv & maddie video is going  04:18
to be long okay, because i had to rewatch  the show to make sure i got my points right 04:24
40 and correct about everything,   04:29
but it’s like a different vibe  than the austin & ally one  04:31
because even though it was terrible i  was genuinely enjoying what i was seeing 04:34
41 this show   04:38
i’m not enjoying it at all and i have words. 04:39
42 i   04:41
have lots and lots and lots of words for  this show because i barely like anything  04:41
about it so the liv & maddie is on halt right  now because its gonna be a bit of a long one 04:47
43 okay,   04:52
and the total drama video it will be coming  soon, it will be coming soon, it’s still coming. 04:53
44 like   04:57
that show is just completely garbage  and so that video is just going to be  04:57
a movie, it’s going to be a movie, like  how my last video was but that’s different 05:04
45 because i was   05:07
praising that show while this  one i’m just trashing it.  05:08
now also on one of the comments  that i said i was like: 05:12
46 what y’all   05:16
want me to talk about a show i don’t like? okay.  05:17
so that’s zack and cody. now, i feel  like i should’ve been a little more 05:19
47 specific about that   05:22
because some of y’all started dragging me on that. i don’t hate the suite life of zack and cody. 05:24
48  05:29
i hated it when zack and cody  were in it. literally i don’t like  05:30
the twins in this show, i don’t.  i’m still gonna a make a video about 05:35
49 the suite life of zack and cody,   05:39
just my little review of it and how i felt about the show and how if it holds up to 05:40
50 today, had-   05:44
partially it holds up to today,  partially. but that video will come soon 05:46
51 but it is one   05:51
particular thing because one of y’all  commented on it, well i’m not gonna  05:52
say exactly what the comment was but  one of y’all left this comment and 05:54
52 it really made   05:58
me sit there and think and go like,  we gotta talk about this so today’s 05:59
53 video i bring   06:04
you you know this ongoing series that i have: the misogynoir of the suite life of zack and cody 06:06
54 the suite life of zack and cody,   06:14
it was like up there with like the cheetah girls, and high school musical and camp rock 06:15
55 when it came   06:19
to like successful disney channel properties as  06:20
they ended up getting a movie later  and a spinoff television series 06:22
56 and they   06:26
actually did get like a danimals like  sweepstakes, did anybody win that? 06:26
57 did anybody win that, if you won that  06:30
comment down below. i’m trynna see something. 06:31
58 suite life of zack and   06:33
cody actually had a really really  pretty long run because it’s  06:34
like the show ended and  then they got a spinoff show 06:38
59 so it’s like   06:41
the show kept going, to be  honest it’s like suite life,  06:42
its just basically just suite life okay it’s  just suite life but we’re strictly talking 06:45
60 about the first series, suite life   06:49
of zack and cody because it’s the better one out of the two,   06:50
but the show still has issues okay 06:56
61 suite life on   07:00
deck is actually a really horrible  show. do y’all want a video about me  07:01
just trashing on suite life on deck  i will do that. i will do that okay. 07:04
62 but here we are just strictly talking   07:07
about the main problem i had with suite life of zack and cody and it’s because the issue 07:09
63 the diversity   07:14
issue okay we gotta get into  that, there is like numerous  07:15
issues with diversity but we’re strictly  just gonna be talking about the black people 07:18
64 okay the black girls actually.   07:22
like i didn’t watch this show for the twins.  07:25
I was like i watched it for all  the other characters because 07:28
65 i just   07:30
really enjoyed all the other characters i  just found them little boys annoying like  07:31
i love the mom, i love the mom’s  storylines okay like that’s so weird 07:35
66 i love the mom’s storylines in suite   07:39
life of zack and cody than i care about suite life of zack and cody. not suite life of zack and cody 07:41
67 zack and cody's storylines but basically   07:45
even though the show did revolve around two little white boys   07:48
the show had a pretty diverse cast for that part 07:51
68 like is   07:54
boston that diverse y’all please  comment down below like how the  07:54
diversity in boston is because  i am genuinely curious to know 07:58
69 how it   08:01
is up there okay because I’ve  heard it was pretty diverse  08:02
um so yeah, how’s the diversity  in boston what’s it like up there 08:05
70 it was   08:09
a pretty diverse cast by disney channel standards.  08:09
okay just by disney channel standards,  i remember like often in and out 08:13
71 they would   08:17
bring people of color in to like  day play and whatnot because  08:17
i do remember victoria justice she  was so adorable in this episode 08:21
72 where she   08:24
was like the little pageant  girl. this was before zoey 101,  08:25
this is like before victoria  justice before we knew who she was, 08:28
73 she   08:31
was brought into this television  series just to day play and whatnot  08:32
so they did constantly have people day playing  but they didn’t have them like as mains 08:35
74 now there   08:40
was only like two main characters  of color and that was mr. moseby  08:41
and london tipton. those two characters are  just another topic for another discussion 08:44
75  08:48
there were like no black girls on this  show whatsoever. there were no black girls  08:49
whatsoever on the show. y’all know  how i feel about that. there are 08:53
76 no black   08:57
girls like nowadays if there are no  black girls, specifically if there’s  08:57
no dark skinned black girls in  it i’m not gonna watch it okay 09:01
77  09:05
in this day and age but we’re  speaking of like 2005, 2006, 2007,  09:06
so i’m like okay i low-key give it  slack even though it’s still not good. 09:10
78 so we finally got   09:13
a black girl on the show named mary margaret played by the oh so amazing monique coleman. 09:14
79 were no roles   09:20
that are specifically for  african-american women at all,  09:21
but the truth is that the character  that i’m playing in high school 09:24
80 musical, wasn’t   09:26
intended for a black actress i went in there and  09:27
was like oh no i’m gonna do  this, this is- i absolutely can 09:30
81 this something   09:33
that is important to me because why does this  09:34
character need to be tall and blonde,  this is an- she’s an intelligent person 09:36
82 she’s   09:39
a person that goes to school  with everybody else i don’t see  09:40
the difference and i think that  part fit is how we see ourselves 09:42
83 that we have   09:45
to start seeing ourselves playing the lawyers,  09:46
the doctors in any sort of role that we  want to play and then it doesn’t matter 09:48
84 now   09:55
many of you guys may recognize  monique coleman as she played  09:56
taylor mckessie in the disney channel  series trilogy high school musical 09:59
85 like she   10:05
was taylor in all three of those,  if y’all know how i feel about  10:05
taylor’s character please go  watch my high school musical video 10:09
86 i will   10:11
have that link down below for a reference  if any of you guys are curious in that.  10:12
now monique coleman is extremely  talented she literally can 10:16
87 work with any   10:18
script that she is given so kudos  to you miss ma’am kudos to you 10:19
88 but my issue   10:22
with her is that like i think monique  is amazing i think she deserves more  10:24
but my issue is that i- it  really sorry dang my thing was 10:29
89 lopsided   10:35
the entire time and y’all didn’t  say nothing y’all fake okay but 10:35
90 my issue with her was that mary   10:40
margaret, she was maddie and london’s classmate at that school that they hated so so freaking much 10:43
91 but   10:48
it was like she was mean like  nasty like you know how the  10:49
typical way that disney writes black  women she was mean, had an attitude 10:53
92 thought she   10:57
was better than everybody,  she was really smart though.  10:58
i’m really glad she wasn’t  portrayed as being stupid because 11:00
93 i don’t like   11:02
how when they portray black people as being  11:03
stupid on television but i am  pretty glad that she wasn’t dumb 11:05
94 but that   11:09
kind of doesn’t- like the bad  outweighed the good in her character  11:09
though. she was just like mean  really bad nasty attitude. and then 11:13
95 they just kind   11:17
of got rid of her. they just  like never explained why she  11:18
didn’t come back i think it’s mainly  because maddie and london got kicked 11:21
96 out the school,   11:24
but after that we just never  really saw her again but her  11:25
character didn’t really do much of anything  she was just there as like maddie’s classmate 11:28
97 that had an attitude   11:34
and vanessa hudgens was her little sidekick character but it just wasn’t i don’t know 11:35
98 i didn’t really   11:40
like mary margaret all that much  she was just. like it was nice to  11:40
see a black girl on this show for  once like nice to see somebody that 11:44
99 looked like   11:48
me like not no racially ambiguous black girl like a mono racial black girl looking black girl 11:48
100 it was nice   11:54
to see that so we just kind of like  took what we got but her character  11:55
didn’t really it wasn’t really a good  character and like i said she was 11:58
101 written out the   12:03
show didn’t really change much to the plot anyway it was just pretty strange, just pretty strange 12:04
102 so as you   12:09
know her character was written out  the show so we didn’t really have a  12:10
black girl here anymore it was just  everybody else and then we got nia. 12:14
103 i loved nia,   12:20
let’s just go ahead and throw that out there before i go any further. nia was amazing. 12:24
104 she brought what this   12:31
show needed. nia was that girl. nia moseby that’s her name,   12:32
she was mr. moseby’s niece. 12:38
105 she was played by giovannie  12:40
samuels who is so freaking talented. 12:42
106 during the audition,   12:48
francia, gary, and myself were already friends and so when we all found out that we got 12:53
107 the movie it was like oh great you know we really  12:59
don’t have to act because  we’re, we’re already friends 13:02
108 we’re already cool with each other 13:04
109 oh my gosh, i’m   13:08
going to be just gushing about giovannie samuels for like the next two minutes so like, get ready. 13:10
110 now whoo,   13:14
you guys may recognize who  giovannie is because she  13:16
played kirresha in the third bring it on  movie called bring it on: all or nothing. 13:18
111 where she played francia raisa’s and solange’s   13:23
character’s friend in that movie. now that movie does have issues 13:26
112 i do have   13:30
words about that movie but that’s just  another topic for another discussion  13:31
it’s one of my favorite movies ever but i am  aware that it has issues like i can like things 13:34
113 and acknowledge that it has issues   13:38
but we’re not here to talk about giovannie in  13:42
bring it on we’re here to talk about  her in suite life of zack and cody 13:44
114 because nia- suite life of   13:48
zack and cody really had a lot of moments when the show got dull,   13:50
can y’all see i spilled water on me 13:54
115 i don’t know- but they have   13:55
moments when the show got really dull and when nia came in it like sparked up 13:57
116 and lit   14:01
up and i was just like yes the show  is getting good again because i’m  14:02
tired of watching episodes about the boys.  give me something else and she brought it 14:06
117 this woman   14:10
giovannie samuels she is an  amazing comedy actress. she is just  14:11
naturally funny like she literally  can work with any script that she 14:18
118 is given.   14:22
give giovannie samuels her  props because she deserves  14:23
them okay she is funnier than  alot of y’alls faves out here 14:27
119 but y’all   14:30
don’t wanna admit that and i  blame disney because you know  14:30
how disney is, this goes  back to with monique coleman 14:33
120 too you   14:36
know how hollywood is about mono racial black  14:36
girls you know how disney is about  them too, they’re not exempt from this 14:39
121 you   14:42
know how they are so i am not  really surprised that we didn’t  14:43
see much of her but i’m angry  because she’s extremely talented 14:46
122 i   14:49
really feel like we should see  more of her. she should be way  14:50
bigger than what she was  because she deserves her props 14:54
123 i want to   14:58
see more of her like i know we’re  in the age of change right now,  14:59
i want to see more of giovannie  samuels on my television 15:02
124 i want to see   15:04
her on my movie theatre screen when  we are able to go back to the movies 15:05
125 okay   15:08
that woman deserves her props okay  she’s great, she’s freaking talented 15:08
126 nia   15:14
stole the show okay, nia literally stole  the show the suite life of zack and cody,  15:15
should’ve been called the suite life of  nia moseby because nia was that girl ok 15:21
127 i don’t care   15:26
who else was on screen at the time her- no if  it was just her and mosbey i can deal with it 15:26
128 because   15:32
phil lewis was also a scene stealer for the show  15:32
too like but both of them together  an iconic duo, they were amazing 15:35
129 highly, highly like   15:39
the best moments on this show were either nia moments or mr. moseby moments and when 15:41
130 they were together   15:46
it was great, it was so great it was nice to see a black family on this show even though it 15:46
131 was-   15:51
it was a black family we’ll  go with there that’s the  15:52
closest thing we got to a black  family on the show but it was great. 15:53
132 nia was brought into the because ashley tisdale  15:55
as we know was playing  sharpay in hsm 2 at the time 15:59
133 she was away filming for high school musical 2  16:02
so they really needed to have  somebody in to fill her spot 16:05
134 so they brought   16:08
giovannie in to play nia to be there to like fill in maddie’s spot 16:09
135 i guess   16:14
i already mentioned i love me some nia moseby  16:15
i’m about to change her to  my avatar on something i 16:20
136 have i am a nia moseby stan 16:25
137  16:28
but her character has issues,  her character has issues 16:29
138 it hurts me to say this because this- like i said  16:32
disney is extremely  misogynistic towards black women 16:35
139 and racist   16:39
towards black women and we’re just going to  16:40
talk about that the show has  issues when it comes to race okay 16:41
140 it has so many issues.   16:47
yes i will say i like nia but she falls into  16:50
that typical trope of how  disney portray black women 16:53
141 as loud, mean,   16:57
sassy, rude, nasty attitude, not one to listen,  16:58
not one to follow the rules always,  wants to do what she want to do 17:02
142 treats people   17:05
like crap, yadda yadda, that is literally nia  17:06
like literally nia does fall  into that category and i'm 17:09
143 so happy that   17:12
giovannie did work with the scripts that they  17:12
gave her where she played it all  to her best ability and whatnot 17:15
144 but it still   17:18
falls into the tired trop of the sassy black girl and disney has a big big problem with this arc 17:19
145 like i'm tired of it.   17:28
it’s gotten better in the recent years where basically they just have black girls in pain 17:30
146 that’s   17:34
not any better, well look that’s another topic  17:35
for another discussion. That’s  another topic for another discussion 17:37
147 we're actually gonna bring that back up at the end  17:39
of the video. but there’s a  whole entire episode where 17:41
148 nia was   17:46
literally being mean to a lot of little girls that  17:47
were younger than her and she  was so mean to those girls 17:49
149 to the point where they were afraid of her 17:52
150  17:55
disney imagine how that is  when a little black girl sees  17:56
this, like how will she react? how  will she respond like it really 17:59
151 bothers how y’all are not-   18:03
y’all call yourselves a family channel  18:05
and then you don’t think about the  actual families that are watching 18:06
152 like black kids watch disney channel just as much  18:09
as white kids. do you not  understand how that’s affecting them 18:11
153 and do you not   18:14
understand how that is affecting how non-black people view black kids 18:15
154 like tv is   18:19
literally like on of the first things we see when we’re learning about humans like 18:21
155 i’ma save that for last,   18:28
i have to save that for last i’m getting off topic 18:30
156 disney   18:33
constantly finds ways to villanize the black girls  18:33
like how i said she was portrayed  as a sassy mean black girl 18:37
157 if the girl   18:39
is not the main or the lead character, main and/or  18:40
lead character, she’s  villainized. she’s villainized. 18:44
158 and that’s   18:46
where nia happened a lot of times like her character was villainized plenty of times 18:47
159 where she was   18:52
really kind of like a troubled girl a little misunderstood and what not but 18:53
160 she was   18:57
villainized for a lot of things that she was into  18:57
because she was a troublemaker,  i will go ahead and say that 19:01
161 like i said   19:04
constantly villainizing the side black girl character 19:05
162 disney.   19:08
aside from that she ended up being the token black  19:10
friend. she ended up being  london’s little token black friend 19:12
163 now before   19:15
y’all even try to come for me i made entire  19:16
post on my instagram explains  the token black kid trope 19:19
164 the token black kid   19:23
is not always friends with a white person 19:25
165 the   19:28
token black still applies to non-black people okay because it happens all the time and disney 19:29
166 is guilty of this   19:36
because they’ve done it in high school musical 19:38
167 they’ve done it   19:40
in high musical the musical the series and they’ve done it in andi mack okay 19:41
168 disney has done this before   19:44
where they use the token black kid trope with   19:46
non-black and non-white people 19:51
169 okay and also she was extremely mean to london but  19:54
london was terrible so i don’t  really too upset with that ‘cause 19:58
170 london   20:01
was trash. we’re gonna have to sit and talk about  20:02
London tipton one day on this  channel because i have a lot 20:04
171 of words   20:07
to say about her and that’s just going to have to be another video within itself okay 20:07
172 i have words about   20:12
london tipton. now to get inside maddie’s interaction with nia 20:13
173 now   20:16
i love maddie okay, i love  maddie fitzpatrick so much  20:17
i loved her like- sharpay to y’all  is maddie fitzpatrick to me okay 20:21
174 i’ma go there, i will say that   20:27
that’s my unpopular opinion maddie fitzpatrick literally could literally take on sharpay evans 20:29
175 i don’t care.   20:34
but as i said i love maddie but i’m gonna hold her responsible for her mess 20:35
176 the way maddie spoke   20:41
to people specifically people of color  20:44
we're really just talking about  the way maddie talked to people of 20:48
177 color, the   20:51
way she talked down on them like they were stupid  20:52
and the way she talked about  them especially the way 20:55
178 she talked about mr. moseby and esteban,   20:57
it really comes off across as racist it 21:00
179 can come across as racist depending on how  21:03
somebody is watching it  and as i rewatched the show 21:06
180 i was just like maddie,   21:08
calm down. don’t do that. like the scene  21:10
where here and nia met talking  about give me back my shift 21:13
181 and i was   21:27
just like maddie you’ve been gone forever what  21:27
makes you think that somebody  didn’t come in and replace you like 21:30
182 maddie i’m gonna need   21:32
you to do some thinking but yes  21:33
they got into this big argument to  the point where millicent passed out 21:35
183 and   21:40
(oh my gosh) like i said  i love maddie okay but the  21:44
way she would talk to non-white  people really frustrates me 21:50
184 it really   21:55
really frustrated me and once maddie came back we  21:56
never saw her again like yeah she  did come in and out in and out but 21:59
185 once   22:03
maddie came back she was just kind of gone because  22:04
they didn’t really see how they  wasn’t really space for her character 22:06
186 but no,   22:10
nia brought a lot to the show she made the show  22:11
entertaining, and that’s  why i loved her like i loved 22:14
187 london tipton   22:16
but her and the stupid girl  act was getting old like we  22:17
needed something new and that’s  exactly what nia brought to the show 22:21
188 and it was   22:24
nice because london and nia  had amazing chemistry together  22:24
i loved seeing them together. but you  know they just wrote nun out the show like 22:27
189 they wrote her   22:32
out the show like no explanation of where she went  22:33
like they just took her out so like that  just ended on a bad note and makes no sense 22:36
190 like what even happened to nia 22:42
191 so what do we   22:44
take away from this. you know- what you  22:45
know it’s basically this: you  bring a black girl into the story 22:48
192 you have   22:52
her portrayed in a negative  light and then you get rid  22:53
of her and we never see her again nor  do you explain what happened to her 22:56
193  23:00
that’s literally what happens in  the suite life of zack and cody 23:01
194  23:04
i- y’all wanna know how this really  hurts me. i am a black woman. i only know  23:05
life as a black woman. i tell black stories.  i only write stories about black girls okay 23:12
195 that is   23:17
my niche. that is my writing niche.  i tell black stories. i specifically  23:18
tell black girl stories. going  back and i watch my childhood shows 23:22
196 that used to make me so happy,   23:26
it really hurts to see that this is how  23:29
people saw me when i was a kid, and  innocent little girl that didn’t know 23:32
197 nothing about life. it really hurts   23:36
me to know that this is how some people saw me. 23:39
198  23:42
because of the way hollywood thinks black  girls are, especially at the time given. 23:43
199 the   23:49
2000s are not as progressive as  we think they are. let's be real.  23:50
let’s be real. they were were not.  when it comes to film. they were not 23:54
200 i do   23:58
blame like a lot of these kids shows  and channels for the way a lot of  23:59
Kids percieve race at that age  because racism is taught and 24:04
201 the way   24:08
they see black people and  asian people and latino people  24:08
portrayed on television through  the shows they watch they’re gonna 24:12
202 start   24:17
thinking that stuff in real life okay.  yes black girls can be sassy. i’m  24:17
a sassy black girl. i know  that like no i know i know okay 24:23
203 but i’m   24:28
not the only kind of black girl out  here. there are way different types  24:29
of ways that black girls act and i’m just  so sick of going back and looking on my 24:35
204 childhood shows   24:40
and just seeing that this is  the only way that people saw me.  24:41
And that’s frustrating. it’s really  really frustrating and it freaking hurts 24:44
205 hey,   24:50
it’s getting better now because we aren’t  seeing black girls portrayed in a more  24:51
negative light, when really  we’re just seeing them in pain 24:56
206 which   24:59
technically isn’t much better but it’s something different so i’ll give y’all your props for that. 25:00
207 like i said   25:04
i’m tired of seeing black girls  in pain, that’s another thing.  25:05
like i said if you’re gonna like- the  thing about the pain thing like i said 25:09
208 it like like i said going back   25:13
to the sassy black girl thing. i wouldn’t mind, if that wasn’t the only black girl in the show. 25:14
209 and you had   25:19
different kinds of black girls in  the show, fine, go ahead do the  25:20
sassy black girl. go put go  put the black girl in pain but 25:23
210 but you gotta have variety,   25:25
variety disney. learn it. variety. 25:27
211 people don’t   25:30
seem to understand like it’s casual  racism. it’s portrayed to be awesome 25:32
212 oh no. it’s just my little beads they were moving,   25:36
they’re on the floor right here and i stepped on them. but it’s just the way 25:41
213 it’s just really frustrating to really that this-   25:47
television is the way a lot of people see different races for the first time. 25:51
214 and if they see them in negative   25:56
lights it’s really gonna affect how they treat those people. And how they see them in real life. 25:58
215 that’s   26:03
the point i’m trying to get across with this. 26:03
216 so on that note as i said:   26:05
if you guys are still  interested in the coldest water  26:15

224 but i love y’all thank you guys so so much.   27:08

Lyrics & Translation

[English]
1 nia was that girl
2 but as I said
I love maddie, but I am gonna  hold her responsible for her mess
3 the
2000s were not as progressive as  we think they are, let’s be real
4 let’s be real
5 they were not
6 when it comes to film they were not
7 disney
imagine how that is, when a little black  girl sees this, like how will she react
8 tired
trope of the sassy black girl, and  disney has a problem with this ark
9 I’m tired of it,
you know how hollywood is  about mono-racial black girls
10 you know how
disney is about them too,  they’re not exempt from this
11
hey guys, it’s harriyanna and  I’m back with another video
12 if you’re new here,
hello i am harriyanna and  welcome to the pirate ship
13 the pirate ship,
harry hook’s pirate ship, i don’t know what you’re
in for but you’re in for something,  it’s a hot mess over here
14 so i hope you enjoy it, i don’t know um
15
i am aware that i am a little  ugly in this video, nails not done
16 hair’s not done,
I’m missing two piercings in  this ear and one in this ear
17 it’s stressful, it’s finals week give me a break
18 i’m gonna look better in my next video trust me.
i’m gonna take care of this I’m  gonna de ugly, i'm sorry, i apologize
19 before we go on, we have to thank today’s sponsor
as you guys already know, today’s  video is sponsored by the coldest water
20 the coldest water
is a company that sells in slated water bottles
21 like i said,
i am in love with this thing like i would  not keep promoting it if i didn’t like it
22 i truly
do love this cup so much, like i  said i have been having a lot of
issues when making sure i’m  staying hydrated and whatnot
23 because i
don’t want to keep wasting plastic water bottles
and here with the coldest  water i am not doing that
24 i am constantly just refilling my water bottle,
constantly making sure i am healthy and hydrated
25 and
stay calm because you guys  know i do suffer from anxiety,
and me making sure i’m hydrated  truly does help with my daily jitters
26 so if
you guys are interested any of the products from
the coldest water including this one  right here i will link it down below
27 and a lot of you guys have been asking me:
does this work with other drinks or just  with water? it works with all drinks y’all
28 because i put
juice in here before too and it works pretty fine,
i’m pretty sure it’s good, like  it’s an insulated water bottle
29 like whatever
you put in here it’ll work okay,  but you have to make sure you
hand wash it though please don’t put  it in the dishwasher please hand wash
30 so if you’re
interested in the coldest  water i will link it down below
31
i always spill water on me like
32 now
we gotta get into our next sponsor, the progenies.
does this count as a sponsor i don’t know  but it’s a disclaimer, public announcement
33 please
go donate to the progenies y’all or  just watching my videos or anything.
y’all just supporting me helps the progenies  but we have a direct link for the progenies
34 where you guys can donate too,
so i'm gonna link that down below and also you guys know i’m on younow,
please go onto my livestreams on younow
35
we didn’t to go live last week because  of all the mess with the election
yeah pack your bags mister  man you’re going to jail
36 but yeah
all the mess with the election i didn’t  get around to doing these livestreams for
last week, so we are going  to be doing one this week
37 and the great thing about younow, is that i get to
talk to you guys live it will be broadcasted live here on my channel through younow. we can just
talk about whatever we want  so, yeah that’s a fun thing
38 my shirt is like soaking wet. do y’all
see this, this is embarrassing. this is very embarrasing, what- i need to do better
39 now i know
y’all have been begging me for that liv & maddie  video y’all. that liv & maddie video is going
to be long okay, because i had to rewatch  the show to make sure i got my points right
40 and correct about everything,
but it’s like a different vibe  than the austin & ally one
because even though it was terrible i  was genuinely enjoying what i was seeing
41 this show
i’m not enjoying it at all and i have words.
42 i
have lots and lots and lots of words for  this show because i barely like anything
about it so the liv & maddie is on halt right  now because its gonna be a bit of a long one
43 okay,
and the total drama video it will be coming  soon, it will be coming soon, it’s still coming.
that show is just completely garbage  and so that video is just going to be
a movie, it’s going to be a movie, like  how my last video was but that’s different
45 because i was
praising that show while this  one i’m just trashing it.
now also on one of the comments  that i said i was like:
46 what y’all
want me to talk about a show i don’t like? okay.
so that’s zack and cody. now, i feel  like i should’ve been a little more
47 specific about that
because some of y’all started dragging me on that. i don’t hate the suite life of zack and cody.
48
i hated it when zack and cody  were in it. literally i don’t like
the twins in this show, i don’t.  i’m still gonna a make a video about
49 the suite life of zack and cody,
just my little review of it and how i felt about the show and how if it holds up to
50 today, had-
partially it holds up to today,  partially. but that video will come soon
51 but it is one
particular thing because one of y’all  commented on it, well i’m not gonna
say exactly what the comment was but  one of y’all left this comment and
52 it really made
me sit there and think and go like,  we gotta talk about this so today’s
53 video i bring
you you know this ongoing series that i have: the misogynoir of the suite life of zack and cody
54 the suite life of zack and cody,
it was like up there with like the cheetah girls, and high school musical and camp rock
55 when it came
to like successful disney channel properties as
they ended up getting a movie later  and a spinoff television series
56 and they
actually did get like a danimals like  sweepstakes, did anybody win that?
57 did anybody win that, if you won that
comment down below. i’m trynna see something.
58 suite life of zack and
cody actually had a really really  pretty long run because it’s
like the show ended and  then they got a spinoff show
59 so it’s like
the show kept going, to be  honest it’s like suite life,
its just basically just suite life okay it’s  just suite life but we’re strictly talking
60 about the first series, suite life
of zack and cody because it’s the better one out of the two,
but the show still has issues okay
61 suite life on
deck is actually a really horrible  show. do y’all want a video about me
just trashing on suite life on deck  i will do that. i will do that okay.
62 but here we are just strictly talking
about the main problem i had with suite life of zack and cody and it’s because the issue
63 the diversity
issue okay we gotta get into  that, there is like numerous
issues with diversity but we’re strictly  just gonna be talking about the black people
64 okay the black girls actually.
like i didn’t watch this show for the twins.
I was like i watched it for all  the other characters because
65 i just
really enjoyed all the other characters i  just found them little boys annoying like
i love the mom, i love the mom’s  storylines okay like that’s so weird
66 i love the mom’s storylines in suite
life of zack and cody than i care about suite life of zack and cody. not suite life of zack and cody
67 zack and cody's storylines but basically
even though the show did revolve around two little white boys
the show had a pretty diverse cast for that part
68 like is
boston that diverse y’all please  comment down below like how the
diversity in boston is because  i am genuinely curious to know
69 how it
is up there okay because I’ve  heard it was pretty diverse
um so yeah, how’s the diversity  in boston what’s it like up there
70 it was
a pretty diverse cast by disney channel standards.
okay just by disney channel standards,  i remember like often in and out
71 they would
bring people of color in to like  day play and whatnot because
i do remember victoria justice she  was so adorable in this episode
72 where she
was like the little pageant  girl. this was before zoey 101,
this is like before victoria  justice before we knew who she was,
73 she
was brought into this television  series just to day play and whatnot
so they did constantly have people day playing  but they didn’t have them like as mains
74 now there
was only like two main characters  of color and that was mr. moseby
and london tipton. those two characters are  just another topic for another discussion
75
there were like no black girls on this  show whatsoever. there were no black girls
whatsoever on the show. y’all know  how i feel about that. there are
76 no black
girls like nowadays if there are no  black girls, specifically if there’s
no dark skinned black girls in  it i’m not gonna watch it okay
77
in this day and age but we’re  speaking of like 2005, 2006, 2007,
so i’m like okay i low-key give it  slack even though it’s still not good.
78 so we finally got
a black girl on the show named mary margaret played by the oh so amazing monique coleman.
79 were no roles
that are specifically for  african-american women at all,
but the truth is that the character  that i’m playing in high school
80 musical, wasn’t
intended for a black actress i went in there and
was like oh no i’m gonna do  this, this is- i absolutely can
81 this something
that is important to me because why does this
character need to be tall and blonde,  this is an- she’s an intelligent person
82 she’s
a person that goes to school  with everybody else i don’t see
the difference and i think that  part fit is how we see ourselves
83 that we have
to start seeing ourselves playing the lawyers,
the doctors in any sort of role that we  want to play and then it doesn’t matter
84 now
many of you guys may recognize  monique coleman as she played
taylor mckessie in the disney channel  series trilogy high school musical
85 like she
was taylor in all three of those,  if y’all know how i feel about
taylor’s character please go  watch my high school musical video
86 i will
have that link down below for a reference  if any of you guys are curious in that.
now monique coleman is extremely  talented she literally can
87 work with any
script that she is given so kudos  to you miss ma’am kudos to you
88 but my issue
with her is that like i think monique  is amazing i think she deserves more
but my issue is that i- it  really sorry dang my thing was
89 lopsided
the entire time and y’all didn’t  say nothing y’all fake okay but
90 my issue with her was that mary
margaret, she was maddie and london’s classmate at that school that they hated so so freaking much
91 but
it was like she was mean like  nasty like you know how the
typical way that disney writes black  women she was mean, had an attitude
92 thought she
was better than everybody,  she was really smart though.
i’m really glad she wasn’t  portrayed as being stupid because
93 i don’t like
how when they portray black people as being
stupid on television but i am  pretty glad that she wasn’t dumb
94 but that
kind of doesn’t- like the bad  outweighed the good in her character
though. she was just like mean  really bad nasty attitude. and then
95 they just kind
of got rid of her. they just  like never explained why she
didn’t come back i think it’s mainly  because maddie and london got kicked
96 out the school,
but after that we just never  really saw her again but her
character didn’t really do much of anything  she was just there as like maddie’s classmate
97 that had an attitude
and vanessa hudgens was her little sidekick character but it just wasn’t i don’t know
98 i didn’t really
like mary margaret all that much  she was just. like it was nice to
see a black girl on this show for  once like nice to see somebody that
99 looked like
me like not no racially ambiguous black girl like a mono racial black girl looking black girl
100 it was nice
to see that so we just kind of like  took what we got but her character
didn’t really it wasn’t really a good  character and like i said she was
101 written out the
show didn’t really change much to the plot anyway it was just pretty strange, just pretty strange
102 so as you
know her character was written out  the show so we didn’t really have a
black girl here anymore it was just  everybody else and then we got nia.
103 i loved nia,
let’s just go ahead and throw that out there before i go any further. nia was amazing.
104 she brought what this
show needed. nia was that girl. nia moseby that’s her name,
she was mr. moseby’s niece.
105 she was played by giovannie
samuels who is so freaking talented.
106 during the audition,
francia, gary, and myself were already friends and so when we all found out that we got
107 the movie it was like oh great you know we really
don’t have to act because  we’re, we’re already friends
108 we’re already cool with each other
109 oh my gosh, i’m
going to be just gushing about giovannie samuels for like the next two minutes so like, get ready.
110 now whoo,
you guys may recognize who  giovannie is because she
played kirresha in the third bring it on  movie called bring it on: all or nothing.
111 where she played francia raisa’s and solange’s
character’s friend in that movie. now that movie does have issues
112 i do have
words about that movie but that’s just  another topic for another discussion
it’s one of my favorite movies ever but i am  aware that it has issues like i can like things
113 and acknowledge that it has issues
but we’re not here to talk about giovannie in
bring it on we’re here to talk about  her in suite life of zack and cody
114 because nia- suite life of
zack and cody really had a lot of moments when the show got dull,
can y’all see i spilled water on me
115 i don’t know- but they have
moments when the show got really dull and when nia came in it like sparked up
116 and lit
up and i was just like yes the show  is getting good again because i’m
tired of watching episodes about the boys.  give me something else and she brought it
117 this woman
giovannie samuels she is an  amazing comedy actress. she is just
naturally funny like she literally  can work with any script that she
118 is given.
give giovannie samuels her  props because she deserves
them okay she is funnier than  alot of y’alls faves out here
119 but y’all
don’t wanna admit that and i  blame disney because you know
how disney is, this goes  back to with monique coleman
120 too you
know how hollywood is about mono racial black
girls you know how disney is about  them too, they’re not exempt from this
121 you
know how they are so i am not  really surprised that we didn’t
see much of her but i’m angry  because she’s extremely talented
122 i
really feel like we should see  more of her. she should be way
bigger than what she was  because she deserves her props
123 i want to
see more of her like i know we’re  in the age of change right now,
i want to see more of giovannie  samuels on my television
124 i want to see
her on my movie theatre screen when  we are able to go back to the movies
125 okay
that woman deserves her props okay  she’s great, she’s freaking talented
126 nia
stole the show okay, nia literally stole  the show the suite life of zack and cody,
should’ve been called the suite life of  nia moseby because nia was that girl ok
127 i don’t care
who else was on screen at the time her- no if  it was just her and mosbey i can deal with it
128 because
phil lewis was also a scene stealer for the show
too like but both of them together  an iconic duo, they were amazing
129 highly, highly like
the best moments on this show were either nia moments or mr. moseby moments and when
130 they were together
it was great, it was so great it was nice to see a black family on this show even though it
131 was-
it was a black family we’ll  go with there that’s the
closest thing we got to a black  family on the show but it was great.
132 nia was brought into the because ashley tisdale
as we know was playing  sharpay in hsm 2 at the time
133 she was away filming for high school musical 2
so they really needed to have  somebody in to fill her spot
134 so they brought
giovannie in to play nia to be there to like fill in maddie’s spot
135 i guess
i already mentioned i love me some nia moseby
i’m about to change her to  my avatar on something i
136 have i am a nia moseby stan
137
but her character has issues,  her character has issues
138 it hurts me to say this because this- like i said
disney is extremely  misogynistic towards black women
139 and racist
towards black women and we’re just going to
talk about that the show has  issues when it comes to race okay
140 it has so many issues.
yes i will say i like nia but she falls into
that typical trope of how  disney portray black women
141 as loud, mean,
sassy, rude, nasty attitude, not one to listen,
not one to follow the rules always,  wants to do what she want to do
142 treats people
like crap, yadda yadda, that is literally nia
like literally nia does fall  into that category and i'm
143 so happy that
giovannie did work with the scripts that they
gave her where she played it all  to her best ability and whatnot
144 but it still
falls into the tired trop of the sassy black girl and disney has a big big problem with this arc
145 like i'm tired of it.
it’s gotten better in the recent years where basically they just have black girls in pain
146 that’s
not any better, well look that’s another topic
for another discussion. That’s  another topic for another discussion
147 we're actually gonna bring that back up at the end
of the video. but there’s a  whole entire episode where
148 nia was
literally being mean to a lot of little girls that
were younger than her and she  was so mean to those girls
149 to the point where they were afraid of her
150
disney imagine how that is  when a little black girl sees
this, like how will she react? how  will she respond like it really
151 bothers how y’all are not-
y’all call yourselves a family channel
and then you don’t think about the  actual families that are watching
152 like black kids watch disney channel just as much
as white kids. do you not  understand how that’s affecting them
153 and do you not
understand how that is affecting how non-black people view black kids
154 like tv is
literally like on of the first things we see when we’re learning about humans like
155 i’ma save that for last,
i have to save that for last i’m getting off topic
156 disney
constantly finds ways to villanize the black girls
like how i said she was portrayed  as a sassy mean black girl
157 if the girl
is not the main or the lead character, main and/or
lead character, she’s  villainized. she’s villainized.
158 and that’s
where nia happened a lot of times like her character was villainized plenty of times
159 where she was
really kind of like a troubled girl a little misunderstood and what not but
160 she was
villainized for a lot of things that she was into
because she was a troublemaker,  i will go ahead and say that
161 like i said
constantly villainizing the side black girl character
162 disney.
aside from that she ended up being the token black
friend. she ended up being  london’s little token black friend
163 now before
y’all even try to come for me i made entire
post on my instagram explains  the token black kid trope
164 the token black kid
is not always friends with a white person
165 the
token black still applies to non-black people okay because it happens all the time and disney
166 is guilty of this
because they’ve done it in high school musical
167 they’ve done it
in high musical the musical the series and they’ve done it in andi mack okay
168 disney has done this before
where they use the token black kid trope with
non-black and non-white people
169 okay and also she was extremely mean to london but
london was terrible so i don’t  really too upset with that ‘cause
170 london
was trash. we’re gonna have to sit and talk about
London tipton one day on this  channel because i have a lot
171 of words
to say about her and that’s just going to have to be another video within itself okay
172 i have words about
london tipton. now to get inside maddie’s interaction with nia
173 now
i love maddie okay, i love  maddie fitzpatrick so much
i loved her like- sharpay to y’all  is maddie fitzpatrick to me okay
174 i’ma go there, i will say that
that’s my unpopular opinion maddie fitzpatrick literally could literally take on sharpay evans
175 i don’t care.
but as i said i love maddie but i’m gonna hold her responsible for her mess
176 the way maddie spoke
to people specifically people of color
we're really just talking about  the way maddie talked to people of
177 color, the
way she talked down on them like they were stupid
and the way she talked about  them especially the way
178 she talked about mr. moseby and esteban,
it really comes off across as racist it
179 can come across as racist depending on how
somebody is watching it  and as i rewatched the show
180 i was just like maddie,
calm down. don’t do that. like the scene
where here and nia met talking  about give me back my shift
181 and i was
just like maddie you’ve been gone forever what
makes you think that somebody  didn’t come in and replace you like
182 maddie i’m gonna need
you to do some thinking but yes
they got into this big argument to  the point where millicent passed out
183 and
(oh my gosh) like i said  i love maddie okay but the
way she would talk to non-white  people really frustrates me
184 it really
really frustrated me and once maddie came back we
never saw her again like yeah she  did come in and out in and out but
185 once
maddie came back she was just kind of gone because
they didn’t really see how they  wasn’t really space for her character
186 but no,
nia brought a lot to the show she made the show
entertaining, and that’s  why i loved her like i loved
187 london tipton
but her and the stupid girl  act was getting old like we
needed something new and that’s  exactly what nia brought to the show
188 and it was
nice because london and nia  had amazing chemistry together
i loved seeing them together. but you  know they just wrote nun out the show like
189 they wrote her
out the show like no explanation of where she went
like they just took her out so like that  just ended on a bad note and makes no sense
190 like what even happened to nia
191 so what do we
take away from this. you know- what you
know it’s basically this: you  bring a black girl into the story
192 you have
her portrayed in a negative  light and then you get rid
of her and we never see her again nor  do you explain what happened to her
193
that’s literally what happens in  the suite life of zack and cody
194
i- y’all wanna know how this really  hurts me. i am a black woman. i only know
life as a black woman. i tell black stories.  i only write stories about black girls okay
195 that is
my niche. that is my writing niche.  i tell black stories. i specifically
tell black girl stories. going  back and i watch my childhood shows
196 that used to make me so happy,
it really hurts to see that this is how
people saw me when i was a kid, and  innocent little girl that didn’t know
197 nothing about life. it really hurts
me to know that this is how some people saw me.
198
because of the way hollywood thinks black  girls are, especially at the time given.
199 the
2000s are not as progressive as  we think they are. let's be real.
let’s be real. they were were not.  when it comes to film. they were not
200 i do
blame like a lot of these kids shows  and channels for the way a lot of
Kids percieve race at that age  because racism is taught and
201 the way
they see black people and  asian people and latino people
portrayed on television through  the shows they watch they’re gonna
202 start
thinking that stuff in real life okay.  yes black girls can be sassy. i’m
a sassy black girl. i know  that like no i know i know okay
203 but i’m
not the only kind of black girl out  here. there are way different types
of ways that black girls act and i’m just  so sick of going back and looking on my
204 childhood shows
and just seeing that this is  the only way that people saw me.
And that’s frustrating. it’s really  really frustrating and it freaking hurts
205 hey,
it’s getting better now because we aren’t  seeing black girls portrayed in a more
negative light, when really  we’re just seeing them in pain
206 which
technically isn’t much better but it’s something different so i’ll give y’all your props for that.
207 like i said
i’m tired of seeing black girls  in pain, that’s another thing.
like i said if you’re gonna like- the  thing about the pain thing like i said
208 it like like i said going back
to the sassy black girl thing. i wouldn’t mind, if that wasn’t the only black girl in the show.
209 and you had
different kinds of black girls in  the show, fine, go ahead do the
sassy black girl. go put go  put the black girl in pain but
210 but you gotta have variety,
variety disney. learn it. variety.
211 people don’t
seem to understand like it’s casual  racism. it’s portrayed to be awesome
212 oh no. it’s just my little beads they were moving,
they’re on the floor right here and i stepped on them. but it’s just the way
213 it’s just really frustrating to really that this-
television is the way a lot of people see different races for the first time.
214 and if they see them in negative
lights it’s really gonna affect how they treat those people. And how they see them in real life.
215 that’s
the point i’m trying to get across with this.
216 so on that note as i said:
if you guys are still  interested in the coldest water

221 and I kind of stopped.
slow reverb remixes will be coming. vlogs will be coming back by the way
222 because i know a lot of y’all
actually do want to see what i do on a regular basis
223 vlogs will be
