Weekday Life
On weekdays, I start work at 7 AM,
so I have to wake up at 5 AM.
Then I begin my two-hour-long
prep routine before heading out.
Twenty minutes for showering,
ten minutes for drying my hair,
twenty minutes for makeup,
plus an hour wasted on who knows what.
6:45 AM.
Finally time to head out.
To look more mature,
when I go to school for classes,
I don't wear glasses.
It's just a five-minute walk to school,
so I usually leave about 10 minutes early.
On the way, I grab breakfast to eat at the office.
The road to school is very short,
and there aren't many breakfast spots,
but the food they sell is so delicious.
I wish I could eat five breakfasts every day,
but I shouldn't be that crazy,
so for now, I just buy two.
Under the school playground sky,
every weekday morning, carrying breakfast,
I always take a look at this sky.
Then I walk into the office to work hard.
"Work hard" is actually a perfect fit,
because I think most jobs are just like
moving a brick from one place to another.
Our job as brick movers
is just to keep the systems they created running.
That said,
as a Chinese person who loves a stable life,
I'm still satisfied every month on the 1st
when the bank sends a text message.
I feel like my lifestyle will change soon,
but for now, let me enjoy paid breakfast breaks
and paid tooth-brushing sessions.
One big perk of working at an international school in Thailand
is punctual clocking out.
Even if a meeting isn't finished,
the principal will tell the speakers to stop
so we can all go home quickly.
The first time this happened, I was really shocked.
After all, I am a genuine time-conscious worker made in China.
For the first time, I was respected by my boss.
I know that in the weekends, I'll be exploited by myself,
so I cherish the time after 4 PM on weekdays
as belonging entirely to me.
On Mondays, I go to the gym to work out.
Running is one of my favorite exercises,
so I start with 20 minutes of running,
then move on to weightlifting.
Honestly, I feel like my form is off,
so I'm not actually building the muscles I want.
But that's okay.
As long as I'm enjoying it,
it doesn't matter which muscles I build.
After that, I go back to my room to be a couch potato.
Eating dinner while watching British shows to learn English.
"Say something sophisticated." "It's you."
Until right before bed, I write in my diary.
On Tuesdays, I go to the Hema Club.
"He created a model to help us imagine."
"He explains that each edge of a cube is actually a plane."
A year and a half ago,
my students knew I was studying to improve myself,
and recommended this club to me.
Since then,
the Hema Club has become my favorite club.
I realized that when I want to learn,
when I want to improve myself,
I keep attracting similar people.
They open new doors for me.
Even though these friends eventually leave,
when I'm doing these things,
I often think of them.
On Wednesdays, I have English lessons on iTalki.
I wonder if everyone feels
that they have different personalities
when speaking different languages.
I feel like I'm more outgoing in English,
more willing to express my feelings.
After class, I continue my couch potato life.
Eating, watching movies.
Sometimes I cook myself.
What I mean by cooking
is basically just boiling chicken and shrimp.
Just looking at these pictures,
you might think my meals are really pitiful.
But I think they're delicious.
Because I love black pepper so much,
that adding just a bit of black pepper and salt
makes everything taste great to me.
Plus, the simpler the preparation,
the cleaner and safer it feels to eat.
Safe to eat.
Actually, I love all simple things.
In my next video,
I'll talk about my minimalist lifestyle.
Thursday is gym day again.
Same as always: running and weights.
The apartment gym is so small
that if more than three people are there, it feels packed.
But the gym is free,
so I don't complain.
Even though exercise barely improves my physique,
it helps my mental state a lot.
After working out, I view problems more positively,
and it releases some stress.
On Fridays, I go rock climbing.
Doesn't that sound unbelievable?
With my body type,
me, a total homebody?
Well,
it looks unbelievable too.
Obviously a newbie.
When I first started rock climbing,
a friend heard about it
and asked me, "Do you have a lot of muscles?"
I said no.
He said,
"Then why are you going rock climbing?"
I said, because the rock gym entrance doesn't have a sign
saying only people with lots of muscles can enter.
So I went in to climb.
I go rock climbing
because I like it.
Because it makes me happy.
So I go.
I don't care what others think.
At the climbing gym,
everyone focuses on figuring out
how to conquer a new route.
No one judges if you're a beginner
or if you're suited for climbing.
In fact, the experienced ones
not only don't judge newbies,
they're very friendly and help them.
I've met experienced climbers at the gym more than once
who, seeing I couldn't get past a hold,
would encourage me,
demonstrate how to climb,
teach me tips like,
even when you think you have no strength left,
keep trying to reach anyway,
and you might just make it.
Or to record videos
to see what you're doing wrong,
so you improve faster.
Actually, this video
was just recorded by a new friend I met.
So don't be afraid of what others think,
don't worry if others think you're suited for it or not,
just do what you want to do,
and you'll attract like-minded friends.
"Does that sound ridiculous? No."
Haha.
After climbing, back home,
I study some English,
write in my diary, and go to bed.
Living alone can be a bit scary sometimes,
so I put on a familiar TV show to sleep.
And that's my weekday life.
Honestly, I wish there were 10 weekdays a week.
Day 6:
I'd go to the stray dog shelter to clean up after them.
Day 7: I'd learn to sing and dance.
Day 8: I'd learn ukulele.
Day 9: I'd learn Spanish.
Day 10: I'd learn skateboarding.
I like too many things,
but my energy is limited.
Maybe that's my goal for next year.
Alright, the happy weekdays are over.
Next video, let's talk about minimalism.
See you next time.
