So let's start off by talking about
00:00
tourist attractions in your country.
00:01
Well, I'm from Nepal and
00:06
in Nepal we have different
00:09
cultural heritage site.
00:10
And...
00:12
There are like
00:14
beautiful nature,
00:16
the highest peak of the world,
00:17
Mount Everest, you know,
00:18
and the birthplace of Gautama Buddha.
00:20
So that is one of the main reason
00:23
why people are coming in our country,
00:25
to see the mountains
00:27
and to see the cultural heritage sites.
00:28
Yeah. And also, like,
00:32
mostly for the Hindu people,
00:34
they're coming in
00:35
one of the most popular temple
00:36
that is called Pashupatinath
00:39
And that is one of the, I think,
00:40
the greatest place
00:42
and people are coming again and again
00:45
to worship the Lord Shiva
00:48
from different country across.
00:51
You know, like
00:57
when people come in my country,
00:58
they will mostly visit in the place where
01:00
everybody knows.
01:03
Everybody knows about the areas,
01:04
the cultural heritage site
01:06
and whatever reason it is.
01:08
But from my preference,
01:10
I'll suggest you to go in the place where
01:11
it is not develop.
01:14
Like, go in the place
01:15
for trekking.
01:17
You know, you will see
01:18
the different side of the lives of people.
01:19
It will be, like,
01:23
not develop place
01:24
and you will see how the people live,
01:26
what they eat,
01:28
what kind of climate they are living, you know.
01:29
So that is one of the thing that people must see,
01:31
the side of my country.
01:35
And it is very beautiful.
01:37
Always my own country.
01:43
Like...
01:45
I haven’t explored my country
01:46
in a way that I will go and travel another country for now.
01:49
My target will always be to see the
01:52
different side of my country,
01:57
especially the trekking, I would say.
01:58
I love to go in a trekking,
02:00
I love to go in the mountains, nature,
02:02
so definitely my country.
02:04
Now let’s talk about cooking.
02:06
The most popular dish is momo.
02:11
So it’s a...
02:14
Steam...
02:15
How I say it?
02:17
So this is a...
02:18
It’s a steam
02:20
covered with
02:23
the chicken,
02:26
which is marinated,
02:27
and they will steam and cook it, basically.
02:29
But you can make it in different way,
02:32
you can fry it,
02:34
you can...
02:35
According to the artist.
02:36
You know, sauté with the butter...
02:37
Like that.
02:39
Yes.
02:44
Like, Nepalese people are very hospitable
02:45
and we do serve people and we
02:47
care about them in a way like, you know,
02:51
the God is in your house.
02:54
So you will find a different hospitality
02:55
in my country.
02:57
Yes, fast food is very popular.
03:01
Mostly the deep fried item, you know,
03:04
the people are liking that thing more.
03:05
So, yes.
03:07
The momo that I mentioned before,
03:08
this is also the fast food item.
03:10
One of the.
03:12
When I was child...
03:16
Basically our staple food.
03:19
The rice, dhal, curry,
03:21
achaar, you know.
03:23
This is the go-to food,
03:24
so that, I would say,
03:26
I used to love it.
03:28
And still I do.
03:29
Now let's talk about movies.
03:30
Okay.
03:32
My favorite actor...
03:35
Like, I don't have any specific person
03:37
to mention that this is my favorite, because
03:40
everybody have different acting, you know?
03:43
And I adore acting.
03:45
So there are so many people I adore.
03:47
So particularly one person,
03:49
no, it’s nothing like that to mention.
03:51
But yeah.
03:55
There are many, so
03:56
I couldn’t mention one person.
03:58
Twice in a month,
04:02
because I love cinema.
04:04
I love to see how they make the movie,
04:05
the acting, obviously.
04:08
And yeah, how was the story.
04:10
Especially I like the real life based story,
04:14
so if it’s something like that,
04:17
then I love to watch.
04:19
The last movie I saw was...
04:22
It’s kind of like fictional,
04:25
not real based.
04:26
It was War 2.
04:27
I went to watch that
04:29
because I really like the actor.
04:31
It was Hrithik Roshan.
04:32
And he's kind of already old,
04:34
but the way he maintained himself
04:36
and his acting, is something...
04:38
You don't want to miss it.
04:41
Even though there is not much
04:42
in the story to tell.
04:43
But yeah,
04:44
I went there to watch him basically.
04:45
In the future...
04:50
Like, there is no particular movie
04:51
that's in my mind right now,
04:53
but I would definitely want to watch,
04:55
the movie which was made in my country.
04:58
To see the way a movie holds, you know?
05:00
Like, when I was...
05:06
When I was kid,
05:09
the movie used to be long.
05:10
Like three hours,
05:12
and there were so many stories,
05:14
so many character.
05:17
The main lead people, also,
05:18
would be like many,
05:20
you know?
05:21
But now,
05:22
in the movie,
05:23
it's quite short.
05:24
And also the main character,
05:26
they are limited.
05:28
They’re not putting the—
05:29
ten main character.
05:31
They're putting, like,
05:32
two, three maximum.
05:33
Maybe because of the budget or whatever it is.
05:35
So yeah,
05:37
that is a difference I feel.
05:38
And also in the story.
05:40
Because in the past time
05:42
the story was related according to that time,
05:43
and now the story is different
05:47
according to the present situation.
05:48
So I'm from Nepal,
05:51
It's in the South Asia
05:53
between India and China.
05:54
And my country is mostly popular
05:57
for the highest peak of the world,
05:59
Mount Everest.
06:01
Many of the people are going in
06:02
my country for that reason.
06:04
So the tourist attraction place
06:07
in my country is...
06:09
There are so many.
06:12
People mostly come for the nature,
06:13
Mount Everest, as I mentioned before,
06:15
and different cultural heritage site.
06:17
And the temples,
06:19
and to see the life of the people as well,
06:21
you know, because mostly people have
06:24
in their mindset,
06:25
like Nepal is a developing country.
06:26
So they want to see how it looks
06:28
from their perspective
06:31
and how it is differ from their lifestyle.
06:33
The tourist attraction is...
06:38
I would say, the nature.
06:40
The nature.
06:42
People coming to see.
06:43
To see the weather,
06:45
beautiful weather,
06:47
the mountains, rivers.
06:48
And also the people of Nepal,
06:50
they are very kind.
06:53
They have a great hospitality.
06:55
They serve to the people like
06:59
they are the God.
07:01
Because it's a saying in my country, like,
07:02
“Treat your guests like they are the God.”
07:04
You know?
07:08
So that is also the main reason why
07:09
the Nepalese people’s hospitality’s differ from
07:11
other people, other country.
07:14
And Nepal have always been the tourist destination
07:17
from a long time.
07:20
Mostly because of the nature, obviously,
07:21
and different medicine herbs
07:24
that we can find.
07:26
You know?
07:28
That’s the end of Part two,
07:29
and we’re going to move on to Part three now.
07:31
Let's talk about museums and art galleries.
07:33
I would not say 100% free, in a way,
07:40
because it's art, you know?
07:43
So you need to pay some contribution
07:46
for the hard work of the people,
07:49
for preserving that thing
07:52
and to creating that thing, in a way, you know?
07:55
But at the same time,
07:58
it should not be expensive in a way that
07:59
people should be thinking like,
08:01
“Should I go to the museum?”
08:03
No.
08:04
It should be,
08:05
like, easily accessed
08:06
and, like,
08:07
just a limited budget
08:08
for the preservation of the item.
08:10
I'm sorry, I didn't get the question.
08:17
What should people...
08:19
What should they do?
08:20
What should they include?
08:21
What things should be in the museums
08:23
or in the art galleries,
08:25
or different promotions, things like that?
08:26
What should they do to make them more popular?
08:29
Make people want to go there more?
08:31
That's so nice question, like,
08:33
I've never thought in that way.
08:34
Because in museum, what we are seeing is the
08:36
rare piece of previous ancient kings...
08:40
You know, that kind of item.
08:44
Or the art, the paintings.
08:46
To make it interesting,
08:48
I think we can make something
08:51
in the digital way, also.
08:53
You know?
08:55
So
08:56
different transition,
08:57
maybe that will captivate the now—
08:59
today's generation.
09:01
Because today's generation
09:02
is mostly about digital things,
09:03
you know?
09:05
So something we can relate
09:06
and to make a content, maybe.
09:08
So yeah.
09:12
Now let's talk about the holiday industry.
09:13
It depends upon the people, actually.
09:23
Because some people are confident
09:25
to go alone wherever they can,
09:27
but some people, like me, I have to think.
09:30
Like, can I just go solo?
09:34
No, I need somebody who can guide me, so if—
09:36
if there is a thing called package,
09:40
then obviously it's easy, you know?
09:41
There will be a guide,
09:44
he have all the plan for you, for the holiday.
09:45
You don't have to stress about
09:48
where to go, how to go.
09:49
So that is like a easy, easy way, in a way.
09:51
But some people are, like, independent.
09:54
They don't want to rely on anybody.
09:56
They want to explore by themselves,
09:57
book a cab by themselves,
10:00
check by themselves,
10:01
check hotel, check places.
10:02
So that is one of the differentiate, you know,
10:04
between these two package.
10:07
The number of people traveling is not the problem,
10:14
but it depends upon the people.
10:17
What kind of people are they?
10:20
If they are creating drama,
10:21
then obviously that will be
10:23
hard for the people who are guiding them,
10:25
or who are the
10:28
regular person around.
10:30
You know, if they create some issue.
10:32
Other than that,
10:34
the number of tourists in our country,
10:35
it won't be a problem.
10:37
But sometimes it's going to be problem, if
10:38
all the hotels are booked,
10:41
there is no place to eat, then
10:42
how are we going to treat them well?
10:44
You know, that would be the issue.
10:46
It could be other impact as well.
10:53
It has a positive impact and negative impact
10:56
at the same time.
10:58
A positive, obviously the revenue generation,
10:59
you know? And...
11:02
They can see
11:04
the beautiful side of our country and
11:06
see the lifestyle, but at the same time
11:09
the negative side would be, obviously, the air pollution.
11:11
And there should be a production of different food items,
11:16
so there are going to be wastes
11:19
and bring the water pollution.
11:20
And things like that.
11:22
Okay, so I'm going to give you some feedback
11:24
on Part one, Part two and Part three.
11:25
I'm going to start off with
11:27
more tactical, more strategic tips.
11:29
Things that could improve
11:31
quite quickly for you,
11:32
And then we'll give you some feedback
11:33
on your grammar, vocabulary,
11:36
pronunciation and your fluency.
11:38
So Part one, you did very well.
11:40
Again, it felt very relaxed,
11:42
it felt like talking to
11:43
you know, a friend or a colleague.
11:44
You're making it a little bit
11:46
more difficult for yourself
11:47
in two different ways.
11:48
The first way is,
11:50
I will often ask you a question
11:52
and you will list every single way
11:54
that you could answer that question.
11:57
So, if I ask you, for example,
11:59
about tourist attractions,
12:01
you won't tell me about Mount Everest,
12:02
you'll tell me about
12:04
every tourist attraction in Nepal.
12:05
So that is just making your life more difficult
12:07
because it turns it into
12:10
a knowledge test.
12:12
So it's a speaking test, not a knowledge test.
12:13
So we want to do things
12:16
that help us speak as clearly
12:18
and as confidently as possible,
12:20
and basically make our job easier.
12:22
So, for example,
12:24
if I ask you a question about tourist attractions,
12:25
pick the one that you find
12:27
easiest to talk about.
12:29
The examiner is not thinking about,
12:30
“is she giving an impressive answer?”
12:33
or “is the knowledge correct?”
12:35
They're thinking about your grammar,
12:36
your vocabulary, your pronunciation,
12:38
and your fluency.
12:40
In general, avoid listing things
12:41
and just pick one easy thing.
12:44
I think that will make
12:45
not just Part one much, much easier,
12:47
but Part two and Part three as well.
12:49
You did have that issue again
12:52
in Part two.
12:54
So, you were listing
12:55
so many different places
12:57
and different things.
12:59
There's a danger that on test day
13:00
you won’t stick to the question
13:02
and you won't answer the question
13:04
because you're listing so many different things.
13:05
My advice for Part two
13:08
and for most of these questions would be
13:10
start your answer with one answer.
13:12
One thing.
13:15
So, for example,
13:16
“Describe a tourist attraction in your country.”
13:17
I'm going to talk about Mount Everest.
13:19
Or a famous resort,
13:21
or a famous...
13:22
It could be a waterfall,
13:23
it could be anything.
13:24
But focus on that one thing
13:25
and go deep on that one thing.
13:28
And then that makes it
13:30
much easier for you to talk about,
13:31
because I think our brains just find it easier
13:32
to talk about one thing
13:35
than to talk about 20 things.
13:36
You did stop halfway through,
13:38
but you recovered very, very well.
13:40
A good examiner will do something like I did,
13:42
which is like, you know,
13:45
“Just talk about one thing.”
13:46
They want you to do well.
13:47
But if that happens again on test day,
13:48
you might get an examiner that just doesn't
13:51
help you in that way,
13:53
which could cause problems.
13:55
So what I would recommend doing
13:56
for Part two is,
13:58
again, pick one thing, but
14:00
look at the bullet points here
14:02
on the cue card.
14:03
You can add more things.
14:05
So more things related to that main topic
14:07
that you find it easier to talk about.
14:09
The other thing you were doing in Part two
14:11
is you were looking down at the page
14:13
and then talking,
14:15
and then looking at the page,
14:16
and then talking...
14:18
Now, the notes are there to help you.
14:19
Yeah.
14:21
But you were using them in a way that
14:21
hindered you.
14:23
That stopped you doing well.
14:24
So what I would recommend doing is
14:26
during the one minute period
14:28
where you're preparing your answer,
14:29
do write down notes,
14:31
think about what you're going to say,
14:32
and then just try and speak
14:34
as naturally as possible.
14:36
And if you run out of things to say,
14:37
then you can glance down.
14:39
Just so they’re there to help you.
14:41
That would
14:42
make you much more fluent
14:43
and help you speak
14:45
for the whole two minutes.
14:46
Part three was also quite good.
14:47
You did develop your answers a little bit.
14:49
It felt like you
14:51
were trying to find the correct answer
14:54
rather than just speaking to me.
14:56
So remember, it's a speaking test,
14:58
there's no correct answer.
14:59
For a speaking test,
15:00
as long as you're answering the question,
15:01
as long as you're talking
15:03
about that topic,
15:04
you can go in many different directions.
15:06
So pick the direction that is easiest
15:07
for you to talk about.
15:09
For example,
15:11
You were trying to be like,
15:18
Does it have air pollution or water pollution?
15:19
Like, just pick one thing to think about.
15:21
So air pollution, you could talk about, you know
15:24
building the resort,
15:28
will obviously pollute the air
15:30
with all the construction
15:31
and then all the cars going—
15:33
transportation going there.
15:35
I really liked the way you asked me
15:36
to repeat the question.
15:38
Not many people do that.
15:39
Okay,
15:40
And you did do that.
15:41
And you can do that.
15:42
So I think,
15:44
I can’t remember exactly what I did, but I think,
15:45
at least one time, when I repeated the question,
15:47
I rephrased it
15:50
yo help you understand it.
15:51
And that’s what a good examiner will do.
15:53
They will understand that there might be
15:55
one or two words that you
15:56
didn't quite understand,
15:58
and they will rephrase it
15:59
to make it easier.
16:01
You can also ask the examiner to explain a word.
16:01
So, for example,
16:04
What do you mean by resort?
16:05
Some people wouldn't know that
16:07
a resort is like a big hotel,
16:09
a big tourist complex.
16:12
Then the examiner will explain that,
16:14
“Oh, a hotel, okay.”
16:16
And then
16:17
you'll be able to answer better.
16:18
So keep doing that.
16:19
If you don't understand questions,
16:20
ask that examiner to repeat the question, or
16:22
“What does that word mean?”
16:25
Or “Can you rephrase that?”
16:26
But you did really, really well.
16:29
You could expand your answers in Part three
16:30
a little bit by using more examples.
16:33
Sometimes examples help you to think
16:35
more clearly.
16:37
So, is there a resort in Nepal?
16:38
Or a resort where you currently live?
16:40
A massive resort or massive hotel?
16:43
Does that have any impact on the environment?
16:45
Human beings find it easier
16:48
to talk about stories and examples
16:49
than to think about these abstract concepts?
16:51
So you can talk about that
16:54
in Part three.
16:55
So I think if you used all of that advice,
16:56
the next time you come in
16:59
and do one of these with us,
17:00
you'll see a big, big improvement
17:02
and you'll do even better.
17:03
I've given you a lot of negative feedback, but
17:04
a lot of the stuff you did was great,
17:06
you know.
17:08
I’m just doing that to help you as much as possible,
17:09
but overall,
17:11
your pronunciation was clear,
17:12
I could understand every word that you were saying,
17:13
nearly all of your grammar was good as well.
17:16
You were making some small grammar mistakes,
17:18
like these ones.
17:20
Most of your vocabulary is good,
17:33
you are able to talk about many different topics,
17:34
without any problem.
17:37
You're not making many
17:39
collocation or vocabulary errors,
17:40
and your fluency is quite good as well.
17:43
There's a few little areas
17:45
where we could help you be more fluent,
17:47
but overall very, very good.
17:48
I'm going to create
17:51
a whole PDF feedback report for you,
17:51
and I'm going to give you your scores
17:54
in that PDF feedback report,

and send that to you.
17:57
You can also download it

18:01
I've included the full feedback report
18:03
and also examples of
18:05
sentence structures, grammar, vocabulary
18:07
that this student used
18:09
that would help you too.
18:10
And I'm also going to include
18:11
lots of extra samples and questions
18:13
for you to practice.

Lyrics & Translation
[English]
So let's start off by talking about
tourist attractions in your country.
Well, I'm from Nepal and
in Nepal we have different
cultural heritage site.
And...
There are like
beautiful nature,
the highest peak of the world,
Mount Everest, you know,
and the birthplace of Gautama Buddha.
So that is one of the main reason
why people are coming in our country,
to see the mountains
and to see the cultural heritage sites.
Yeah. And also, like,
mostly for the Hindu people,
they're coming in
one of the most popular temple
that is called Pashupatinath
And that is one of the, I think,
the greatest place
and people are coming again and again
to worship the Lord Shiva
from different country across.
You know, like
when people come in my country,
they will mostly visit in the place where
everybody knows.
Everybody knows about the areas,
the cultural heritage site
and whatever reason it is.
But from my preference,
I'll suggest you to go in the place where
it is not develop.
Like, go in the place
for trekking.
You know, you will see
the different side of the lives of people.
It will be, like,
not develop place
and you will see how the people live,
what they eat,
what kind of climate they are living, you know.
So that is one of the thing that people must see,
the side of my country.
And it is very beautiful.
Always my own country.
Like...
I haven’t explored my country
in a way that I will go and travel another country for now.
My target will always be to see the
different side of my country,
especially the trekking, I would say.
I love to go in a trekking,
I love to go in the mountains, nature,
so definitely my country.
Now let’s talk about cooking.
The most popular dish is momo.
So it’s a...
Steam...
How I say it?
So this is a...
It’s a steam
covered with
the chicken,
which is marinated,
and they will steam and cook it, basically.
But you can make it in different way,
you can fry it,
you can...
According to the artist.
You know, sauté with the butter...
Like that.
Yes.
Like, Nepalese people are very hospitable
and we do serve people and we
care about them in a way like, you know,
the God is in your house.
So you will find a different hospitality
in my country.
Yes, fast food is very popular.
Mostly the deep fried item, you know,
the people are liking that thing more.
So, yes.
The momo that I mentioned before,
this is also the fast food item.
One of the.
When I was child...
Basically our staple food.
The rice, dhal, curry,
achaar, you know.
This is the go-to food,
so that, I would say,
I used to love it.
And still I do.
Now let's talk about movies.
Okay.
My favorite actor...
Like, I don't have any specific person
to mention that this is my favorite, because
everybody have different acting, you know?
And I adore acting.
So there are so many people I adore.
So particularly one person,
no, it’s nothing like that to mention.
But yeah.
There are many, so
I couldn’t mention one person.
Twice in a month,
because I love cinema.
I love to see how they make the movie,
the acting, obviously.
And yeah, how was the story.
Especially I like the real life based story,
so if it’s something like that,
then I love to watch.
The last movie I saw was...
It’s kind of like fictional,
not real based.
It was War 2.
I went to watch that
because I really like the actor.
It was Hrithik Roshan.
And he's kind of already old,
but the way he maintained himself
and his acting, is something...
You don't want to miss it.
Even though there is not much
in the story to tell.
But yeah,
I went there to watch him basically.
In the future...
Like, there is no particular movie
that's in my mind right now,
but I would definitely want to watch,
the movie which was made in my country.
To see the way a movie holds, you know?
Like, when I was...
When I was kid,
the movie used to be long.
Like three hours,
and there were so many stories,
so many character.
The main lead people, also,
would be like many,
you know?
But now,
in the movie,
it's quite short.
And also the main character,
they are limited.
They’re not putting the—
ten main character.
They're putting, like,
two, three maximum.
Maybe because of the budget or whatever it is.
So yeah,
that is a difference I feel.
And also in the story.
Because in the past time
the story was related according to that time,
and now the story is different
according to the present situation.
So I'm from Nepal,
It's in the South Asia
between India and China.
And my country is mostly popular
for the highest peak of the world,
Mount Everest.
Many of the people are going in
my country for that reason.
So the tourist attraction place
in my country is...
There are so many.
People mostly come for the nature,
Mount Everest, as I mentioned before,
and different cultural heritage site.
And the temples,
and to see the life of the people as well,
you know, because mostly people have
in their mindset,
like Nepal is a developing country.
So they want to see how it looks
from their perspective
and how it is differ from their lifestyle.
The tourist attraction is...
I would say, the nature.
The nature.
People coming to see.
To see the weather,
beautiful weather,
the mountains, rivers.
And also the people of Nepal,
they are very kind.
They have a great hospitality.
They serve to the people like
they are the God.
Because it's a saying in my country, like,
“Treat your guests like they are the God.”
You know?
So that is also the main reason why
the Nepalese people’s hospitality’s differ from
other people, other country.
And Nepal have always been the tourist destination
from a long time.
Mostly because of the nature, obviously,
and different medicine herbs
that we can find.
You know?
That’s the end of Part two,
and we’re going to move on to Part three now.
Let's talk about museums and art galleries.
I would not say 100% free, in a way,
because it's art, you know?
So you need to pay some contribution
for the hard work of the people,
for preserving that thing
and to creating that thing, in a way, you know?
But at the same time,
it should not be expensive in a way that
people should be thinking like,
“Should I go to the museum?”
No.
It should be,
like, easily accessed
and, like,
just a limited budget
for the preservation of the item.
I'm sorry, I didn't get the question.
What should people...
What should they do?
What should they include?
What things should be in the museums
or in the art galleries,
or different promotions, things like that?
What should they do to make them more popular?
Make people want to go there more?
That's so nice question, like,
I've never thought in that way.
Because in museum, what we are seeing is the
rare piece of previous ancient kings...
You know, that kind of item.
Or the art, the paintings.
To make it interesting,
I think we can make something
in the digital way, also.
You know?
So
different transition,
maybe that will captivate the now—
today's generation.
Because today's generation
is mostly about digital things,
you know?
So something we can relate
and to make a content, maybe.
So yeah.
Now let's talk about the holiday industry.
It depends upon the people, actually.
Because some people are confident
to go alone wherever they can,
but some people, like me, I have to think.
Like, can I just go solo?
No, I need somebody who can guide me, so if—
if there is a thing called package,
then obviously it's easy, you know?
There will be a guide,
he have all the plan for you, for the holiday.
You don't have to stress about
where to go, how to go.
So that is like a easy, easy way, in a way.
But some people are, like, independent.
They don't want to rely on anybody.
They want to explore by themselves,
book a cab by themselves,
check by themselves,
check hotel, check places.
So that is one of the differentiate, you know,
between these two package.
The number of people traveling is not the problem,
but it depends upon the people.
What kind of people are they?
If they are creating drama,
then obviously that will be
hard for the people who are guiding them,
or who are the
regular person around.
You know, if they create some issue.
Other than that,
the number of tourists in our country,
it won't be a problem.
But sometimes it's going to be problem, if
all the hotels are booked,
there is no place to eat, then
how are we going to treat them well?
You know, that would be the issue.
It could be other impact as well.
It has a positive impact and negative impact
at the same time.
A positive, obviously the revenue generation,
you know? And...
They can see
the beautiful side of our country and
see the lifestyle, but at the same time
the negative side would be, obviously, the air pollution.
And there should be a production of different food items,
so there are going to be wastes
and bring the water pollution.
And things like that.
Okay, so I'm going to give you some feedback
on Part one, Part two and Part three.
I'm going to start off with
more tactical, more strategic tips.
Things that could improve
quite quickly for you,
And then we'll give you some feedback
on your grammar, vocabulary,
pronunciation and your fluency.
So Part one, you did very well.
Again, it felt very relaxed,
it felt like talking to
you know, a friend or a colleague.
You're making it a little bit
more difficult for yourself
in two different ways.
The first way is,
I will often ask you a question
and you will list every single way
that you could answer that question.
So, if I ask you, for example,
about tourist attractions,
you won't tell me about Mount Everest,
you'll tell me about
every tourist attraction in Nepal.
So that is just making your life more difficult
because it turns it into
a knowledge test.
So it's a speaking test, not a knowledge test.
So we want to do things
that help us speak as clearly
and as confidently as possible,
and basically make our job easier.
So, for example,
if I ask you a question about tourist attractions,
pick the one that you find
easiest to talk about.
The examiner is not thinking about,
“is she giving an impressive answer?”
or “is the knowledge correct?”
They're thinking about your grammar,
your vocabulary, your pronunciation,
and your fluency.
In general, avoid listing things
and just pick one easy thing.
I think that will make
not just Part one much, much easier,
but Part two and Part three as well.
You did have that issue again
in Part two.
So, you were listing
so many different places
and different things.
There's a danger that on test day
you won’t stick to the question
and you won't answer the question
because you're listing so many different things.
My advice for Part two
and for most of these questions would be
start your answer with one answer.
One thing.
So, for example,
“Describe a tourist attraction in your country.”
I'm going to talk about Mount Everest.
Or a famous resort,
or a famous...
It could be a waterfall,
it could be anything.
But focus on that one thing
and go deep on that one thing.
And then that makes it
much easier for you to talk about,
because I think our brains just find it easier
to talk about one thing
than to talk about 20 things.
You did stop halfway through,
but you recovered very, very well.
A good examiner will do something like I did,
which is like, you know,
“Just talk about one thing.”
They want you to do well.
But if that happens again on test day,
you might get an examiner that just doesn't
help you in that way,
which could cause problems.
So what I would recommend doing
for Part two is,
again, pick one thing, but
look at the bullet points here
on the cue card.
You can add more things.
So more things related to that main topic
that you find it easier to talk about.
The other thing you were doing in Part two
is you were looking down at the page
and then talking,
and then looking at the page,
and then talking...
Now, the notes are there to help you.
Yeah.
But you were using them in a way that
hindered you.
That stopped you doing well.
So what I would recommend doing is
during the one minute period
where you're preparing your answer,
do write down notes,
think about what you're going to say,
and then just try and speak
as naturally as possible.
And if you run out of things to say,
then you can glance down.
Just so they’re there to help you.
That would
make you much more fluent
and help you speak
for the whole two minutes.
Part three was also quite good.
You did develop your answers a little bit.
It felt like you
were trying to find the correct answer
rather than just speaking to me.
So remember, it's a speaking test,
there's no correct answer.
For a speaking test,
as long as you're answering the question,
as long as you're talking
about that topic,
you can go in many different directions.
So pick the direction that is easiest
for you to talk about.
For example,
You were trying to be like,
Does it have air pollution or water pollution?
Like, just pick one thing to think about.
So air pollution, you could talk about, you know
building the resort,
will obviously pollute the air
with all the construction
and then all the cars going—
transportation going there.
I really liked the way you asked me
to repeat the question.
Not many people do that.
Okay,
And you did do that.
And you can do that.
So I think,
I can’t remember exactly what I did, but I think,
at least one time, when I repeated the question,
I rephrased it
yo help you understand it.
And that’s what a good examiner will do.
They will understand that there might be
one or two words that you
didn't quite understand,
and they will rephrase it
to make it easier.
You can also ask the examiner to explain a word.
So, for example,
What do you mean by resort?
Some people wouldn't know that
a resort is like a big hotel,
a big tourist complex.
Then the examiner will explain that,
“Oh, a hotel, okay.”
And then
you'll be able to answer better.
So keep doing that.
If you don't understand questions,
ask that examiner to repeat the question, or
“What does that word mean?”
Or “Can you rephrase that?”
But you did really, really well.
You could expand your answers in Part three
a little bit by using more examples.
Sometimes examples help you to think
more clearly.
So, is there a resort in Nepal?
Or a resort where you currently live?
A massive resort or massive hotel?
Does that have any impact on the environment?
Human beings find it easier
to talk about stories and examples
than to think about these abstract concepts?
So you can talk about that
in Part three.
So I think if you used all of that advice,
the next time you come in
and do one of these with us,
you'll see a big, big improvement
and you'll do even better.
I've given you a lot of negative feedback, but
a lot of the stuff you did was great,
you know.
I’m just doing that to help you as much as possible,
but overall,
your pronunciation was clear,
I could understand every word that you were saying,
nearly all of your grammar was good as well.
You were making some small grammar mistakes,
like these ones.
Most of your vocabulary is good,
you are able to talk about many different topics,
without any problem.
You're not making many
collocation or vocabulary errors,
and your fluency is quite good as well.
There's a few little areas
where we could help you be more fluent,
but overall very, very good.
