This is the glow up I've been waiting for. 00:00
My friends and I came to Korea on a mission: 00:03
to do all the things to glow up in beauty and 00:06
wellness and of course make some 00:08
precious memories in the process. 00:10
Oh my god there's a ton of people now. 00:14
Yep this is what traveling with your  girlfriends in your 30s looks like. 00:20
Your 30s are when your friends are 00:24
all in different life stages with busy schedules. 00:25
One has two toddlers. 00:28
One's in her second marriage. 00:30
One quit her job and started a new business. 00:31
One is in the process of building her dream home. 00:33
And one can't travel until after Coachella. 00:36
It gets harder to find quality time together. 00:38
So when a girls trip finally makes it out 00:41
of the group chat it's golden. 00:42
Due to our varying schedules  and staggered travel times 00:45
we only had 5 days in Korea where  all five of us were together. 00:48
But we made the most of it. 00:51
So about the glowup here's everything I did. 00:53
First color analysis at Color Place. 00:56
Of course we had to do this in Korea. 00:59
So not only do they help you find 01:01
your color palette they also give you tips 01:03
on your face shape, body shape, fashion, 01:05
makeup, glasses, hair color and even 01:08
celebrity lookalikes that you can pull inspo from. 01:10
I knew I was a warm tone girly but I was 01:13
actually really surprised to find out that 01:15
I'm a deep autumn that looks best in deep 01:16
colors but I can also wear light warm tone 01:19
colors but that's like my second best. 01:22
So autumn is my best color palette 01:24
and my second best is spring like this. 01:26
Yeah I usually wear something like this. 01:29
Okay you have to go very luxurious. Oh wow. 01:34
Okay I need to completely change my style. 01:38
Bye bye. 01:42
Next we got our hair and makeup  done for a beauty photo shoot. 01:44
So I did my hair and makeup at Yoning. 01:47
It's a place that does hair  and makeup for K-pop idols. 01:49
So this place was legit. 01:52
The makeup artist was extremely fast 01:53
and so skilled I was just amazed at how 01:56
my makeup looked and she literally did it so fast. 01:59
It's probably the best makeup look 02:02
I've ever worn hands down. 02:04
After we got our hair and makeup done, 02:06
we felt so pretty and it was time  to do our photo shoot at Octobee. 02:08
So this is a place that my friend found on IG and 02:12
it really was the best vibes  for a group photo shoot. 02:14
It was huge. 02:18
There was a lot of space for  us to just watch each other. 02:19
We were really just hyping each other up 02:22
the whole time and it was super fun. 02:23
Beauty and the lighting. 02:27
A good one. Wow. Oh yes. Oh my god. 02:28
Get it. Get it girl. Oh my god. Work it. 02:35
Oh that's so cute. 02:39
In the end we got to choose our best photos. 02:42
And if it were up to me if I was 02:44
by myself it would be really  hard to select photos. 02:46
But because all of my friends were there, 02:48
it was easy for us to help each other 02:50
choose our best photos. 02:52
So that was a really great experience. 02:54
Honestly would love to do it again. 02:56
They feel different. The photos look so angelic. 03:00
Angelic faces. Oh cute. Oh my god. 03:03
Shoot it. So cute. You look so voluptuous. 03:07
I love it. She's like even more like but 03:11
I really like it though. 03:17
Next on the glow-up list I did my hair 03:24
at Park Jun Labs Gangnam. 03:26
I did the 11step Dohi Scalp Spa 03:28
Shisheido Hair Treatment haircut and digital perm. 03:32
So I went all out and just did everything 03:35
that I wanted because it was worth it. 03:37
So this is what my hair  looked after the whole thing. 03:40
And I kind of needed some time to understand 03:43
how to style this new perm. 03:45
So this is what it looked like later on. 03:47
I wash and try to style a little bit. 03:49
All I did was curl my bangs. Wow. 03:50
A perm is. Wow. It really makes a difference: 03:53
Next we got our nails done at 5x5 Seongsu. 03:57
So this is a contemporary art gel nail place 04:00
where they literally take the time 04:03
to draw on each of your nail. 04:05
So normally I don't do such intricate designs 04:07
but because I'm in Korea and  they're really good at this, 04:11
I wanted to give it a try. 04:13
I also love that they put so many layers of gel 04:15
for this 3D effect and they  last so long I still have 04:17
them now over a month after I got them done. 04:21
After, some of the girls left. 04:24
My friend Judith and I did a second photo shoot. 04:25
This time with Sanho Mansion. 04:28
So I found this place on Instagram. 04:30
I saved them for a while because 04:32
I love the floral concepts that they do. 04:35
I just knew I wanted to do one 04:38
because this floral theme is just so Lavendaire. 04:40
I'm so obsessed with their set  and how they use real flowers. 04:43
And so I'm obsessed with  how these photos came out. 04:47
I think they're the best photos I've ever taken. 04:50
By the way, I did my own  hair for this photo shoot. 04:54
Since I just got my perm, it was so easy to style. 04:57
Literally just boop boop, did it in 15 minutes. 05:00
Moving on to wellness. 05:03
So my friend and I got a health  checkup at Hanaro Medical. 05:04
And it's because it's so much more convenient 05:08
and comprehensive to do a health checkup 05:10
in Korea than anything you would get in the US. 05:12
Plus, you're saving thousands  of dollars and so much time. 05:15
So here's a list of all the tests that you get 05:18
with a basic package. 05:21
And when I arrived, I added some more tests like 05:22
early Alzheimer's detection,  breast cancer detection 05:25
heavy metals tests and so on. 05:28
It's so efficient. You just go door to door 05:30
from like mamogram, gynecologist, 05:32
vision test, hearing test, lung test, ultrasound, 05:34
blood test and so on. 05:36
And we finished all of this  testing in just 2 and 1/2 hours. 05:38
Next is the big climax of this glow up. 05:42
It is getting skin treatments at Fine Clinic. 05:45
So I was most looking forward to this day 05:48
because I did so much research for months 05:50
leading up to this point. 05:53
So this is what I did: 05:54
I didn't know I was going  to do this until that day, 05:56
until my consultation, but I  decided to do a stem cell IV. 05:58
So this is where they draw your blood 06:02
and they put it in a centrifuge and they separate 06:04
the stem cells from your blood 06:06
and then they kind of IV drip 06:08
those stem cells back into your body. 06:11
So this is supposed to give you whole body healing 06:14
and anti-aging from within. 06:17
So it affects your skin, your joints, 06:19
basically any damaged cells  that you have in your body. 06:22
So while the stem cells were dripping 06:25
I moved on to facial treatments. 06:27
So I'll list everything I did on screen. 06:29
Basically I did Oligio which is Korean Thermage. 06:31
Shurink which is Korean therapy. 06:35
So all of these are less intense and cheaper 06:37
than the Western versions. 06:39
I did Rejuran HB+ because I had to try. 06:41
Rejuran is also known as PDRN aka Salmon Sperm. 06:45
It's basically so powerful for  boosting collagen and hydration. 06:49
And I also did Juvelook Volume 06:54
to just boost collagen in the smile lines. 06:55
After the treatments my skin did feel more glowy 06:58
and hydrated but I'm supposed to see full results 07:00
from these treatments in 2 months. 07:04
So I'm still kind of waiting for that. 07:06
A couple days later, I also  removed my eyelash extensions 07:08
and tried a lash perm for the first time. 07:10
So I did a lash perm and  added some point extensions 07:13
which means it's like a natural look. 07:17
I'm still getting used to it because 07:19
I've had lashes for so long 07:20
but I think it's time I took a break. 07:21
Finally, this glow up list would not be complete 07:23
without mentioning all the  skincare and supplement shopping 07:25
we did at Olive Young and Korean Pharmacies. 07:28
Honestly I think my friends and  I just influenced each other 07:31
to shop more because I have never shopped 07:33
so much skincare in my entire life. 07:35
I think we are all well stocked 07:38
for at least the next year maybe more to come. 07:39
What is it? what is it? what is it? 07:46
78. 78. Lifted. 07:50
What do you have in here man it's like a break. 07:56
After my friends left. 08:01
I had a couple days solo where I explored 08:02
the palace Hanok village and  scenic places like Seoul Forest. 08:04
The main lesson I got from this trip is 08:08
to cherish the people in your life 08:10
and the moments that you share together 08:12
because all of that time is a blessing. 08:14
I just finished watching the anime Frieren 08:18
which I loved so much. 08:20
There was a quote where one of the characters 08:22
bid farewell to the group  to embark on solo travel. 08:24
He said something like: 08:27
"It gets quiet fast when you're alone." 08:28
It's so true how the energy shifts immediately 08:31
after you say goodbye and now you're alone 08:34
in your own energy. 08:36
It's almost like you forgot  how it felt for a while 08:37
since you were in that social energy. 08:40
On my own, I spent time quietly exploring, 08:42
taking photos and one of the days found myself 08:45
journaling in a cafe for a couple hours. 08:48
Traveling alone allows me to hear myself 08:50
more clearly without the  distractions of everyday life. 08:53
I get to use this time to really  reflect on what matters to me 08:56
what's important and how I want to use my time 09:00
from this point onward. 09:03
I love that I'm not really on Instagram 09:05
or social media when I'm traveling. 09:07
I'm in my own bubble and just 09:09
experiencing the world as it comes 09:11
in the present moment in front of me. 09:13
I'm too occupied to check what's online. 09:16
And I find that even coming back 09:18
it's not like I missed much. 09:20
Everything I needed was always in front of me, 09:22
not somewhere else to be found. 09:25
This video is kind of a prequel to my China trip. 09:38
So in the next vlog I'll be traveling to 09:41
Suzhou and Shanghai to see my dad after 6 years. 09:43
It was a heartfelt and healing experience and 09:47
I'm looking forward to sharing  that with you all very soon. 09:49
Thank you so much for your  patience and for being here. 09:52
Sending you so much love 09:54
and I'll see you in the next one. Bye 09:55
