NARRATOR: Between once upon a time and happily ever after,

rivals meet, and legends are forged.

Welcome to the Great Hall of Rivals, where we're celebrating

the legend of an innocent princess

and the vengeful mistress of evil who targeted her from afar.

[TWINKLING SOUND] What's that?

[TWINKLING SOUND]

Oh, yes.

I suppose this is a rivalry you wouldn't want to sleep on.

Yes, very good.

Now speaking of not sleeping, Aurora was

a baby when this story began.

Born to loving parents who adored her,

she was to live a charmed life, and even one day,

marry a handsome prince, until Maleficent

showed up unexpectedly.

The mistress of all evil was deeply offended

that she had not been invited to the celebration

of Aurora's birth.

So Maleficent cursed Aurora to prick her finger on a spinning

wheel before her 16th birthday.

Well, yes, that may seem like a very small curse,

but you didn't let me get to the fact

that once she pricked her finger,

Aurora would be sent into an eternal slumber.

So very serious indeed.

And so Aurora's parents decided to hide the princess away

in the forest, under the protection

of three good fairies, until her 16th birthday safely passed.

It's there that the princess grew up, eventually learning

that destiny can always find you, even in the most unlikely

of places.

And true love found her.

Oh no, not the owl, though he is quite a dancer.

But I was talking about Prince Philip.

Meanwhile, with Aurora's 16th birthday fast approaching,

the three fairies were busy preparing a celebration for her

without the use of their magic.

[TWINKLING SOUND]

I've never seen a cake quite that wobbly before either.

Oh.

And to wear for the party, they made her a beautiful pink dress.

Oh, perhaps some magic may help after all.

Back on the forbidden mountain, Maleficent

became desperate to find her and fulfill the curse.

And it's then that one of her minions

spotted the fairies' magic in the forest.

So with Aurora found, Maleficent used her evil magic

to lure the princess to the cursed spinning wheel,

and then imprison the one person who could save her.

Our hero was helpless, but not hopeless,

for those who loved her would stop at nothing to save her.

And even as Maleficent's hatred and malice grew and grew,

with love on their side, they had

everything they needed to defeat the mistress of evil

once and for all.

And in doing so, they showed that cruelty

in any shape or form was no match for true love.

And Aurora showed that with true love on your side,

you can overcome even the darkest curse.

As you can see, the battle between these two rivals

turned this story into a true legend.

And with this rivalry behind her,

Aurora and Phillip lived happily ever after.
