what's up you guys it's Graham here and 00:00
I'm on a mission to find the most unique 00:01
ways to make money and today I think I 00:03
found it hi my name is Josh I'm 21 years 00:05
old my girlfriend Cara and I make $2,500 00:07
a day running a Doggy Daycare zumies is 00:10
a dog boarding and daycare facility um 00:12
so what we do is we keep dogs overnight 00:15
um when parents are going on vacation 00:18
and then we also do daycare so if 00:20
parents are going to work and they don't 00:22
want their pups to stay at home by 00:24
themselves all day they get to play with 00:25
friends how did you come up with the 00:27
idea for zoom 00:29
my dad and I had been talking about 00:30
starting a business forever and I love 00:32
dogs I've always loved dogs just sorry I 00:35
just hit the camera my German Shepherd's 00:37
my baby I got her when I was when I 00:39
turned 15 so we just kind of winged it 00:41
and hoped for the best and we knew that 00:44
there was a demand cuz when we moved 00:46
here there was nothing for our dogs we 00:48
didn't really feel comfortable 00:49
everywhere was very uh very like 00:51
commercialized and we wanted to be like 00:53
a home style very personal all right 00:55
right when you walk in you walk into 00:57
this really white room so we painted 00:58
white on purpose just to make it really 01:00
inviting and make it seem very clean too 01:01
cuz you walk right in and then we don't 01:03
have a desk so we have this thing where 01:05
we're standing so we can really interact 01:07
with the dogs so like we don't we don't 01:09
sit behind a desk we get down with the 01:11
dogs and we pet them and we get to be 01:12
more personable with the customer 01:15
instead of just being like a face behind 01:16
a desk then as we come back this is 01:18
where the dogs will just be running 01:19
through this 01:20
hallway hi hi hi hi hi hey come here 01:21
come here oh there we have five 01:25
grandchildren and we have B and I have 01:28
more pictures on my phone of B than I do 01:32
my grandchild I know that sounds bad 01:34
tell them that I think they know these 01:36
are the executive suites so these are 01:38
all like 4T x 6 ft and these are where 01:40
the bigger dogs stay all the dogs names 01:42
are right here on the top left so this 01:44
dog's name is tip okay um whenever they 01:46
have this black name instead of a red 01:48
name that means they're in group play so 01:49
we'll get to play with them outside oh I 01:51
can't wait what was the cost of the 01:53
buildout of doing something like this 01:55
basically every room you see is like 01:57
2,000 so it's just however many we have 01:58
which we have like 20 so it's whatever 02:01
whatever that is so this is about 02:03
$40,000 worth of roughly so what type of 02:05
person spends it could be you know 02:08
hundreds of dollars a month on a Doggy 02:09
Daycare like this yeah so people that 02:12
work a lot they want their dog to be 02:14
outside they want their dog socialized 02:16
as well as if you're just uh maybe a 02:18
senior citizen and you want to go play 02:20
Bingo or something you can give us your 02:22
dog and we'll socialize them they'll be 02:24
tired when they get home there's a lot 02:26
of benefits of doggy day here they look 02:28
forward to coming so because I'm busy 02:30
doing the day it keeps them exercise 02:33
they eat the staff is very caring I'm 02:36
very pleased did that sound corny oh no 02:38
that was it's all true I need a break so 02:40
they're going to stay here with their 02:43
second family was that good 02:45
enough did I say any poor grammar you 02:47
know I'm from New Orleans you sure you 02:49
didn't hear any poor grammar in there 02:51
cuz we refilm it so we tried to make 02:52
this a really high-end like luxury 02:54
experience for the owners and the dogs 02:55
so the glass fronts really reduced this 02:57
stress they aren't just looking through 02:59
a wire it's way cleaner because we don't 03:00
have to clean between every wire so we 03:03
just get to wipe down the glass sanitize 03:04
it keeps everything really really 03:07
hygienic you don't want sicknesses going 03:08
around kennel cough is a huge thing so 03:11
we do the most with cleaning each room 03:14
has a bunch of these filters here these 03:16
are all UVC lighting it kills all the 03:18
germs it's just one of those extra steps 03:20
we take additional to just cleaning 03:21
purifies the air we just replace these 03:23
filters monthly and it kills all the 03:25
germs so when did you first get 03:27
interested in business at 16 I started 03:29
mobile detailing out of my car and that 03:32
was like my Gateway into it and then my 03:34
senior year of high school I was really 03:37
into video games all of high school so I 03:38
started a video game YouTube channel 03:40
built that thing up uh to like 80,000 03:42
subscribers before we moved so how much 03:45
money did you make from that like I 03:47
think lifetime earnings is like 44,000 03:49
why not continue that cuz it seems like 03:51
if you could make 40 something thousand 03:53
in high school doing that you could 03:56
easily have made hundreds of thousands 03:57
of dollars yeah YouTube was really 03:58
lonely I would just sit in the room all 04:00
day play video games edit when I did 04:02
stuff with video games I started not 04:04
liking video games anymore so it was 04:06
like my hobby or whatever at the time I 04:08
started hating it because it became my 04:11
job this might be a good thing just like 04:12
show you how to get out the door yeah 04:14
okay go for it so like whenever you're 04:16
getting out this door you want to 04:17
position yourself so you could just slip 04:18
right through or else you're going to 04:20
have dogs just like running between your 04:21
feet so you got to go really fast or 04:23
else you're going to have like 10 dogs 04:25
inside really yes so are you ready so 04:26
this area is medium to small dog area so 04:29
it's it's really just for dogs like 04:31
under like 40 lb because it's not huge 04:33
but it's all shaded with this huge 04:35
tree it's all fenced in all of our 04:38
fences are 6 ft tall so the dogs can't 04:40
get out obviously not no one tries but 04:43
if they did try they couldn't they can't 04:46
this is cayenna uh kayen is one of our 04:48
sassiest little babies here she loves to 04:51
talk and give us her little ruse and 04:54
Ruby is probably a fan favorite here at 04:57
zumies uh she is such an angel she loves 05:01
every single person every single dog she 05:04
meets as soon as she meets you she will 05:06
run up to you with the most Wiggly tail 05:08
ever she's our little wiggle Girl by the 05:10
way you probably didn't notice this but 05:11
a lot of the shots filmed in this video 05:13
are filmed with the brand new OnePlus 05:15
open who's sponsoring today's video 05:16
they've recently released their first 05:18
foldable phone which is one of the 05:19
lightest devices in the category making 05:21
it really easy to work with in just 05:23
about any condition in fact they're 05:25
setting the standard for lightness in 05:26
the industry with a foldable phone that 05:28
weighs just like the best-selling iPhone 05:29
Pro Max and features a compact slim 05:31
durable body that holds great in the 05:34
hand even when you're multitasking I've 05:35
been using this throughout the day and 05:37
it's been incredibly easy to use it's 05:38
very durable extremely slim fits easily 05:39
in your pocket and there's patented 05:42
crease minimalism so that you could open 05:44
and close it without worrying about 05:45
functionality I've also really been 05:47
enjoying the filming capabilities of 05:48
this camera so just keep an eye out for 05:49
it throughout the video how did you get 05:51
the money to start it up and how much 05:53
was involved yeah so right when we moved 05:54
here I bought a van cuz my initial thing 05:56
was I wanted to do pressure washing soft 05:58
washing of houses so I bought that van 06:00
we painted it ourselves we did like 06:02
spray cans and whatnot and then we ended 06:04
up selling it once this building came up 06:07
for sale cuz my dad was like hey do you 06:08
want to do that business we've always 06:10
been talking about and I was like 06:11
absolutely so we sold that van Cara sold 06:12
her car at the time so she didn't have a 06:15
car anymore uh we were unemployed we 06:18
just went for it so it was really a leap 06:20
of faith at that time and it's really 06:22
been just a journey ever since we opened 06:23
a year and a half ago how involved is 06:25
Cara in the business Cara's more 06:27
involved than I am at this point she's 06:29
here almost every day cuz she just loves 06:31
the customer so so much where I'm more 06:33
on the back end just doing the marketing 06:36
and whatnot so she decided also not to 06:38
go to college she actually took the leap 06:40
of faith with me she put that trust in 06:43
me and belief in me which I'm forever 06:45
grateful for and she just fully came on 06:47
board and me and her ran this thing just 06:49
us for the first I would say four months 06:51
why do you think she took that leap of 06:54
faith I think you would have to ask her 06:55
how often do you eat here 06:58
once a week at least yeah probably at 07:00
least once a week not more we met in 07:02
high school in an AP government class 07:05
her best friend was the twins with my 07:07
best friend so we always just like ran 07:10
into each other got to know each other 07:13
and started dating so I talked to Josh 07:16
first and I made it my mission for him 07:20
to be my best friend so anytime we would 07:23
see each other I would run up crazy 07:26
enthusias like probably over the top too 07:28
much and I was like oh my gosh hey best 07:31
friend like speaking into existence 07:33
basically until he finally talked back 07:35
to me you cannot tell but Josh in high 07:37
school was very shy and reserved so it 07:40
took a lot it took a lot to break into a 07:43
shell he looked like he wanted to run 07:44
away from me anytime I would run up to 07:46
him but eventually we got there my 07:49
parents worked together and I was very 07:52
skeptical about working with a 07:54
significant other I'll be honest we had 07:55
a lot of conversation about it but I 07:57
don't think it could go any better than 07:59
it does um we definitely both have our 08:01
roles and they work seamlessly together 08:03
I think that we make a really good pair 08:06
and partnership do you ever get tired of 08:08
The Barking no I mean I just go to sleep 08:09
and I just hear barking in my dreams and 08:12
that's really like that's really our 08:13
life just barking and dogs so it doesn't 08:15
get to us hey guys hey guys hey hi I 08:18
actually really like this I don't know 08:23
about the poop and the slobber are the 08:25
two things for me it's a little iffy but 08:28
seems like a very happy place to work 08:31
how often do you step in dog poop daily 08:33
every time every time every 08:37
time a lot every day it's every day 08:40
probably every day oh oh did I step 08:43
in gosh I thought I was going to 08:48
outsmart you on that one whatever this 08:50
is probably the not so nice part about 08:53
this I'm not going to poop just the 08:54
smell of it the texture of it the 08:56
thought of it just just 08:58
like really makes me gag how did you get 09:00
your first client we started going 09:03
around to condos hotels uh HOAs and just 09:05
handing out brochures just trying to get 09:08
people in the door I would say the first 09:10
week it was probably me and Cara and 09:11
like maybe a dog or two that first week 09:13
was really really slow and then we just 09:15
picked up picked up went from 1 to 5 to 09:17
10 and then some days we're at like 30 09:20
40 and it was it just picked up to the 09:22
point where we needed to start hiring 09:24
people and that was a crazy yeah I drove 09:25
by and I saw the sign I was like oh my 09:27
God that's such a cute name so I Googled 09:29
them and I think we were probably in 09:31
like the first week like the first 09:33
customers not first customers but like 09:36
in that first week so when they create 09:38
their profiles they have a little space 09:40
where they let us know how they found us 09:42
most say Word of Mouth Facebook and then 09:43
Google reviews um so even if we're not 09:45
at the very top of that search engine 09:47
they look at our reviews and we do have 09:50
the highest reviews in the county right 09:52
now so this is the bag we give everyone 09:54
for tours so it comes in like a little 09:55
like we tried to inspire it by like the 09:57
Lulu 09:59
B so this has all the pricing front and 10:01
back it's actually a good price 10:04
unlimited daycare 10:06
$250 that's 20 visits per month really 10:07
good price it's a really good price and 10:11
a lot of people take advantage of it it 10:14
was like our grand opening price and we 10:15
haven't we haven't changed it yet but I 10:17
feel like that's way too low it's like 10:18
$12 a day 10:20
yeah not a lot of people use every 10:23
single day so it's kind of like a gym 10:25
model in that sense but we will probably 10:27
raise that that was just for grand 10:29
opening just to get people in cuz the 10:31
daycare really fuels the boarding as 10:32
well people that use us for daycare when 10:34
they go out of town they're going to use 10:36
us for boarding as well who is your 10:37
first employee so our first employee 10:38
he's not with us anymore but he's not 10:41
dead I need to not say that how do I say 10:43
he's not working here anymore so our 10:45
first employee he's not working here 10:47
anymore he was just this random door 10:49
Dash driver he you have a bug on your 10:50
tooth I to too 10:52
our first employee was just just a 10:56
door Dash driver that was delivering for 10:59
us he came in and he was like this is 11:01
awesome can I work here and I was like 11:04
sure cuz we needed help it was right 11:06
before 4th of July we opened in May so 11:08
our first employee was the 4th of July 11:10
and he came on just for a couple days 11:12
here in there and he really just helped 11:14
us get through that holiday and then he 11:15
ended up doing his own thing so he's not 11:17
with us anymore he's alive he just 11:19
doesn't work here he doesn't work here 11:22
anymore yes correct these are all the 11:23
dogs that are checked in for the day 11:25
this is the daycare side and then this 11:26
is the boarding side so there's always 11:28
more borders at the facility at least at 11:30
ours than daycare daycare is going to be 11:33
just daytime mostly play from 7: to 6:00 11:36
so that's going to be in the yards with 11:40
other dogs the overnight care is our 11:43
boarding side so they have their own 11:46
accommodations where they sleep eat go 11:48
about their daily routines and have that 11:51
special time like you would have at home 11:54
where they have their own place to lay 11:56
their head at night really use like a 11:58
hotel it's like a you have room service 11:59
and then you check out you turn it over 12:01
for anyone yeah exactly and that's kind 12:03
of what we wanted it to be like it's 12:05
very cool yeah it's a dog cot this these 12:07
are from Canda the brand and they're 12:09
really they they're like bulletproof so 12:11
dogs can chew on them all day uh the 12:13
rooms are all 4x6 and then the bed takes 12:15
up like probably a fourth of the room so 12:17
they get all that space two dogs can 12:19
comfortably sit on this bed which is 12:21
awesome what point was the business 12:23
making enough money that you realize 12:25
like wait a second this could be 12:26
something big I would say probably at 12:27
the six Monon Mark is when we started 12:29
seeing that because we were full almost 12:31
every weekend uh we had employees we 12:33
couldn't keep up we were just we were 12:35
just having to hire people and hire 12:37
people and hire people and then we ran 12:39
out of space so we decided we have to 12:40
expand or we had to go get another 12:41
location which we chose to uh expand but 12:43
then it's just the community started 12:47
just tooting us up we won the best of 12:49
bay which is like a little award thing 12:51
here um our Google reviews started 12:53
shooting up our Facebook reviews and 12:56
people really showed that they like the 12:57
brand so we just had to keep we have to 12:59
keep going for that you have to be so on 13:01
top of everything cuz if you if you mess 13:03
up one thing it could be like if you 13:05
forget to medicate a dog for example 13:07
it's like if you don't keep charts and 13:09
you don't keep organized you could 13:10
really like mess something up like you 13:12
have to you have to not just be in it 13:14
because you like dogs you have to be in 13:16
it because you're organized you like the 13:17
people you like the dogs you have to 13:18
like every aspect of it not just dogs a 13:20
lot more to it all right Graham it's 13:22
time to do a bath so we're going to be 13:24
doing s's bath he's a big doodle so 13:25
we're gonna want to put an apron on so 13:27
we don't get wet yeah you don't have to 13:29
get his face we can wash his face by 13:30
hand yeah oh we got this oh my 13:32
God so far this is really nice uh it's 13:36
an easy bath but then again I'm getting 13:39
an easy dog I would imagine if it were 13:41
like a little little one who's maybe a 13:43
little feisty would not be as easy as 13:45
this guy 13:47
oh oh gosh so how many washes do you 13:50
usually do in a day uh on it depends on 13:53
the day like a day where there's a lot 13:55
of checkouts and boarding we might do 10 13:57
10 in a day really so you got to yeah 14:00
this bathtub stays occupied pretty much 14:02
at all times just do like three sprays 14:04
boom boom boom this just don't get in 14:06
his eyes I actually really like this and 14:08
I can search for the cheapest place to 14:10
buy it online but Graham how the OnePlus 14:11
op open canvas is powered by Google's 14:14
Android software for foldable 14:16
smartphones with this technology you can 14:18
view three applications simultaneously 14:20
when the device is unfolded an 14:22
experience that even Apple's IOS doesn't 14:23
offer plus when I'm in the middle of 14:25
something with the larger screen I able 14:27
to easily multitask and use apps like 14:28
Google Lens to search for a product and 14:30
then I could buy it in seconds without 14:32
losing my place on the screen it 14:34
honestly feels like I have a mini 14:35
desktop right here in my hand I also 14:36
really like that if you're on a break 14:38
and you just want to relax for a little 14:40
bit you can watch YouTube in a proper 14:41
size that's not on a tiny little screen 14:43
like this makes it so enjoyable and then 14:45
if you want to comment it's so easy all 14:47
the comments are right here at the 14:49
bottom of the screen what are you doing 14:50
with the money that you're making from 14:51
here because it's a substantial amount 14:52
every month how much do you live off of 14:54
we don't take anything we take I think 14:57
it's after tax $7.90 a week so we take 14:59
just a little bit just enough to pay our 15:03
expenses cuz we just want to grow the 15:05
business and get more locations and make 15:07
more impact on everyone in different 15:09
communities as well and that's split 15:11
between the both of you yeah 790 between 15:13
us both less than $400 a week each yeah 15:15
we live comfortable it's we don't really 15:20
notice it we get to do what we want to 15:23
do and you know we've got a car that 15:25
gets us from point A to point B we love 15:29
our house our dogs are happy and 15:31
comfortable so as long as we're comfy 15:32
doesn't really matter how much it's 15:35
hitting the ACT our bank account we're 15:36
pretty much full every single weekend so 15:38
we decided we either need to make a new 15:40
store or renovate back here so this is 15:41
our old big dog yard that we're walking 15:43
into and it's becoming another new 15:46
building which is going to be about 15:48
double the size of the building we were 15:49
in all day they just finished the block 15:51
and they're framing next week and it's 15:53
probably going to be about two more 15:54
months until we're done with it this is 15:55
massive yeah what 4,000 ft yeah 3,800 15:57
roughly I'm close I'm good I got to say 16:01
you are close I had no idea so they're 16:05
going to connect all the concrete up and 16:06
it's just going to be like one seamless 16:08
integration there and so how many dogs 16:10
could you fit back here we're going to 16:12
add 40 of those nicer sweets so it's all 16:14
going to be the nice ones instead of the 16:17
condo ones okay so that'll add 32 of 16:18
those and then we're adding eight new 16:21
rooms I'm really excited for the 16:23
expansion I think that's going to be 16:24
awesome my dogss will be the first ones 16:25
to get to watch the TV in the new doggy 16:28
room so what do you mean TV in the new 16:30
doggy room yeah TV in the new doggy room 16:32
so yeah Stony loves Netflix is there 16:34
actually going to be a TV and yes this 16:36
is my first time hearing about this so 16:38
what is this there's a TV in so there's 16:40
supposed to be like a new condo coming 16:42
for I have two like 100 lb dogs so um 16:44
it's supposed to be like a new Executive 16:47
Suite and they have like their own 16:49
little personal doggy TVs and my dogs 16:50
like love TV so yeah it's going to be 16:52
awesome and so what are their favorite 16:54
shows what do they like watching um 16:55
Stony likes dog YouTube he likes 16:57
watching like little weenie 17:00
dogs play on YouTube he does yeah but 17:01
I've heard dogs love Bluey so we might 17:06
try that out Bluey it's like the current 17:07
kids show really yeah yeah it's like you 17:10
know what Peppa Pig is okay well me 17:12
either um I've never seen Peppa Pig why 17:15
put TVs in it that seems a little bougie 17:18
a little excessive it is bie but it's a 17:21
good background sound dogs they feel 17:23
more at home like maybe they don't watch 17:25
the TV per se dogs might but for the 17:27
most part if they just have that sound 17:30
they'll feel like they're on the couch 17:31
at home so it's like it's a little bit 17:32
of comfort level it's a little bit of 17:34
yeah it could be gimmicky yet in in a 17:36
sense but then what's this going to be 17:38
here so these two doors are leading out 17:40
to playards so this is going to be the 17:42
large dog yard out here just say like a 17:44
fence is going to be like here for 17:47
example yeah and then the small yard 17:48
will be here and we'll also have indoor 17:50
playroom so when it rains when it's hot 17:52
when it's cold it doesn't really get 17:55
cold here but I was wondering wondering 17:56
what you do when it rains when it rains 17:58
we run every dog inside and just hope 18:00
for the best really and it's not fun 18:02
that's why we did this really do you 18:04
ever worry about maybe like not filling 18:05
this up with enough I'm not worried 18:07
about it because we're so full and we 18:10
have to turn away like 15 20 people some 18:12
weekends like the holiday weekend so 18:13
it's like I don't doubt that we're going 18:15
to fill it up and we could even fill up 18:16
this and that would be awesome we have 18:18
the best customers ever here at zumies 18:20
they are so supportive and we would do 18:22
anything for them you can ask them 18:23
anything and they'll let you know 18:25
everybody seems to love our dog so I 18:26
mean he's excited to come here Josh one 18:30
of the owners showed us around he showed 18:33
us the kennels the Playard he explained 18:36
everything he explained the prices so I 18:40
was really excited because I have two 18:42
puppies yeah and how do they like it 18:43
here they love it they look forward to 18:45
coming they send an email every day with 18:49
three pictures a little demeanor happy 18:51
miss mommy needed hugs and two to five 18:54
sentences I mean it's just it's just 18:57
something you know you miss them and you 19:00
want to make sure they're happy and this 19:01
place makes them happy how did you come 19:03
up with the report card that gets sent 19:05
every evening cuz that was something we 19:07
would want like what would we want with 19:08
our dogs we want to know what's going on 19:11
like if if something happens I want to 19:13
know who he who my dog played with that 19:15
day or like a picture of my dog even 19:18
would do wonders and not a lot of places 19:20
do that or they charge you for it we 19:22
just include it with every boarding 19:24
guest just because it's so important to 19:26
us so during the day in the playards 19:28
while dogs are enjoying group play and 19:30
participating in play with their friends 19:33
we send out and take pictures for daily 19:35
reports and then these go home to their 19:37
parents at the end of the night between 19:40
6:00 and 7:00 and these are sent to our 19:41
overnight borders hip had a great day 19:43
playing with her friends her best friend 19:46
was Marlo and then we'll scroll past she 19:50
didn't have any health notes or concerns 19:53
and then we upload our picture for the 19:55
day 19:57
and there it is and that will be sent 19:59
home to her mom shows her a happy nice 20:02
smiling face looks like she enjoyed her 20:05
day and then we just press create and it 20:08
sends on over what are your thoughts 20:10
about running a business with somebody 20:12
you're not married to yet at the end of 20:13
the day marriage is just a legal 20:15
agreement you can have any kind of 20:18
agreement that you want I think you just 20:19
have to have full trust at that point in 20:22
your significant other he trusts me I 20:24
trust him um and I would say if you're 20:26
married maybe that's just kind of a 20:30
safety net that is making you feel 20:32
better um but anything can change in the 20:34
blink of an eye so I feel 100% 20:37
comfortable not being married are there 20:40
plans in the future 20:42
maybe what's your advice for any other 20:46
young entrepreneurs out there who might 20:48
want to do something similar uh take the 20:49
leap of 20:52
faith hold on I got to say more than 20:55
that yeah 20:57
I got to say a little more I got to say 20:58
a little more than that take the leap 21:00
yeah jump off my thoughts overall it's 21:02
it's really impressive it's a really 21:05
good business my biggest concern is 21:07
possibly scaling this and building it up 21:09
in another community that you don't live 21:12
in full time and then I'm worried 21:13
splitting your time between locations 21:15
means that you're going to get less 21:17
FaceTime here it seems as though a lot 21:18
of your customers come here for you guys 21:20
I mean obviously you're in a great 21:22
business but like they love you I think 21:23
regardless they come and they want to 21:26
see your faces they want to talk to you 21:27
and they love the service so replicating 21:29
that somewhere else I think is going to 21:32
be the biggest challenge oh my other 21:33
criticism I think you could raise prices 21:34
so I know your customers probably don't 21:36
want to hear that I'm sorry you know 21:37
what my favorite part of the day was the 21:39
photos that the OnePlus open took they 21:41
were so good and look how big it is it's 21:44
bigger than 21:47
yours oh and by the way I just want to 21:49
say that this has been my first full day 21:51
of using the OnePlus open Non-Stop and I 21:53
have to say it's held up incredibly well 21:55
the front cover cover screen has a 21:57
ceramic guard that's 20% more resistant 21:58
than rectus glass the main display has 22:01
an anti-reflection screen protector it's 22:03
drop tested from 1 and 1/2 m test folded 22:05
400,000 times and that means it's good 22:07
for 100 folds a day for the next 10 22:10
years which realistically I'm never even 22:12
coming close to even in such a chaotic 22:14
environment where the dogs are jumping 22:16
on me constantly the phone performed 22:17
beautifully and the video I mean just 22:19
take a look at this we've also been 22:21
using the portrait mode to take photos 22:23
of the dogs at the end of the day for 22:24
the report card and they came out in I 22:25
love even just opening up in front of 22:28
people and having them look at it and 22:30
just seeing their faces and their 22:31
reactions are really cool so again the 22:32
link is down below in the description 22:35
get one for yourself enjoy thank you so 22:37
much and until next time 22:39

what's up you guys it's Graham here and
I'm on a mission to find the most unique
ways to make money and today I think I
found it hi my name is Josh I'm 21 years
old my girlfriend Cara and I make $2,500
a day running a Doggy Daycare zumies is
a dog boarding and daycare facility um
so what we do is we keep dogs overnight
um when parents are going on vacation
and then we also do daycare so if
parents are going to work and they don't
want their pups to stay at home by
themselves all day they get to play with
friends how did you come up with the
idea for zoom
my dad and I had been talking about
starting a business forever and I love
dogs I've always loved dogs just sorry I
just hit the camera my German Shepherd's
my baby I got her when I was when I
turned 15 so we just kind of winged it
and hoped for the best and we knew that
there was a demand cuz when we moved
here there was nothing for our dogs we
didn't really feel comfortable
everywhere was very uh very like
commercialized and we wanted to be like
a home style very personal all right
right when you walk in you walk into
this really white room so we painted
white on purpose just to make it really
inviting and make it seem very clean too
cuz you walk right in and then we don't
have a desk so we have this thing where
we're standing so we can really interact
with the dogs so like we don't we don't
sit behind a desk we get down with the
dogs and we pet them and we get to be
more personable with the customer
instead of just being like a face behind
a desk then as we come back this is
where the dogs will just be running
through this
hallway hi hi hi hi hi hey come here
come here oh there we have five
grandchildren and we have B and I have
more pictures on my phone of B than I do
my grandchild I know that sounds bad
tell them that I think they know these
are the executive suites so these are
all like 4T x 6 ft and these are where
the bigger dogs stay all the dogs names
are right here on the top left so this
dog's name is tip okay um whenever they
have this black name instead of a red
name that means they're in group play so
we'll get to play with them outside oh I
can't wait what was the cost of the
buildout of doing something like this
basically every room you see is like
2,000 so it's just however many we have
which we have like 20 so it's whatever
whatever that is so this is about
$40,000 worth of roughly so what type of
person spends it could be you know
hundreds of dollars a month on a Doggy
Daycare like this yeah so people that
work a lot they want their dog to be
outside they want their dog socialized
as well as if you're just uh maybe a
senior citizen and you want to go play
Bingo or something you can give us your
dog and we'll socialize them they'll be
tired when they get home there's a lot
of benefits of doggy day here they look
forward to coming so because I'm busy
doing the day it keeps them exercise
they eat the staff is very caring I'm
very pleased did that sound corny oh no
that was it's all true I need a break so
they're going to stay here with their
second family was that good
enough did I say any poor grammar you
know I'm from New Orleans you sure you
didn't hear any poor grammar in there
cuz we refilm it so we tried to make
this a really high-end like luxury
experience for the owners and the dogs
so the glass fronts really reduced this
stress they aren't just looking through
a wire it's way cleaner because we don't
have to clean between every wire so we
just get to wipe down the glass sanitize
it keeps everything really really
hygienic you don't want sicknesses going
around kennel cough is a huge thing so
we do the most with cleaning each room
has a bunch of these filters here these
are all UVC lighting it kills all the
germs it's just one of those extra steps
we take additional to just cleaning
purifies the air we just replace these
filters monthly and it kills all the
germs so when did you first get
interested in business at 16 I started
mobile detailing out of my car and that
was like my Gateway into it and then my
senior year of high school I was really
into video games all of high school so I
started a video game YouTube channel
built that thing up uh to like 80,000
subscribers before we moved so how much
money did you make from that like I
think lifetime earnings is like 44,000
why not continue that cuz it seems like
if you could make 40 something thousand
in high school doing that you could
easily have made hundreds of thousands
of dollars yeah YouTube was really
lonely I would just sit in the room all
day play video games edit when I did
stuff with video games I started not
liking video games anymore so it was
like my hobby or whatever at the time I
started hating it because it became my
job this might be a good thing just like
show you how to get out the door yeah
okay go for it so like whenever you're
getting out this door you want to
position yourself so you could just slip
right through or else you're going to
have dogs just like running between your
feet so you got to go really fast or
else you're going to have like 10 dogs
inside really yes so are you ready so
this area is medium to small dog area so
it's it's really just for dogs like
under like 40 lb because it's not huge
but it's all shaded with this huge
tree it's all fenced in all of our
fences are 6 ft tall so the dogs can't
get out obviously not no one tries but
if they did try they couldn't they can't
this is cayenna uh kayen is one of our
sassiest little babies here she loves to
talk and give us her little ruse and
Ruby is probably a fan favorite here at
zumies uh she is such an angel she loves
every single person every single dog she
meets as soon as she meets you she will
run up to you with the most Wiggly tail
ever she's our little wiggle Girl by the
way you probably didn't notice this but
a lot of the shots filmed in this video
are filmed with the brand new OnePlus
open who's sponsoring today's video
they've recently released their first
foldable phone which is one of the
lightest devices in the category making
it really easy to work with in just
about any condition in fact they're
setting the standard for lightness in
the industry with a foldable phone that
weighs just like the best-selling iPhone
Pro Max and features a compact slim
durable body that holds great in the
hand even when you're multitasking I've
been using this throughout the day and
it's been incredibly easy to use it's
very durable extremely slim fits easily
in your pocket and there's patented
crease minimalism so that you could open
and close it without worrying about
functionality I've also really been
enjoying the filming capabilities of
this camera so just keep an eye out for
it throughout the video how did you get
the money to start it up and how much
was involved yeah so right when we moved
here I bought a van cuz my initial thing
was I wanted to do pressure washing soft
washing of houses so I bought that van
we painted it ourselves we did like
spray cans and whatnot and then we ended
up selling it once this building came up
for sale cuz my dad was like hey do you
want to do that business we've always
been talking about and I was like
absolutely so we sold that van Cara sold
her car at the time so she didn't have a
car anymore uh we were unemployed we
just went for it so it was really a leap
of faith at that time and it's really
been just a journey ever since we opened
a year and a half ago how involved is
Cara in the business Cara's more
involved than I am at this point she's
here almost every day cuz she just loves
the customer so so much where I'm more
on the back end just doing the marketing
and whatnot so she decided also not to
go to college she actually took the leap
of faith with me she put that trust in
me and belief in me which I'm forever
grateful for and she just fully came on
board and me and her ran this thing just
us for the first I would say four months
why do you think she took that leap of
faith I think you would have to ask her
how often do you eat here
once a week at least yeah probably at
least once a week not more we met in
high school in an AP government class
her best friend was the twins with my
best friend so we always just like ran
into each other got to know each other
and started dating so I talked to Josh
first and I made it my mission for him
to be my best friend so anytime we would
see each other I would run up crazy
enthusias like probably over the top too
much and I was like oh my gosh hey best
friend like speaking into existence
basically until he finally talked back
to me you cannot tell but Josh in high
school was very shy and reserved so it
took a lot it took a lot to break into a
shell he looked like he wanted to run
away from me anytime I would run up to
him but eventually we got there my
parents worked together and I was very
skeptical about working with a
significant other I'll be honest we had
a lot of conversation about it but I
don't think it could go any better than
it does um we definitely both have our
roles and they work seamlessly together
I think that we make a really good pair
and partnership do you ever get tired of
The Barking no I mean I just go to sleep
and I just hear barking in my dreams and
that's really like that's really our
life just barking and dogs so it doesn't
get to us hey guys hey guys hey hi I
actually really like this I don't know
about the poop and the slobber are the
two things for me it's a little iffy but
seems like a very happy place to work
how often do you step in dog poop daily
every time every time every
time a lot every day it's every day
probably every day oh oh did I step
in gosh I thought I was going to
outsmart you on that one whatever this
is probably the not so nice part about
this I'm not going to poop just the
smell of it the texture of it the
thought of it just just
like really makes me gag how did you get
your first client we started going
around to condos hotels uh HOAs and just
handing out brochures just trying to get
people in the door I would say the first
week it was probably me and Cara and
like maybe a dog or two that first week
was really really slow and then we just
picked up picked up went from 1 to 5 to
10 and then some days we're at like 30
40 and it was it just picked up to the
point where we needed to start hiring
people and that was a crazy yeah I drove
by and I saw the sign I was like oh my
God that's such a cute name so I Googled
them and I think we were probably in
like the first week like the first
customers not first customers but like
in that first week so when they create
their profiles they have a little space
where they let us know how they found us
most say Word of Mouth Facebook and then
Google reviews um so even if we're not
at the very top of that search engine
they look at our reviews and we do have
the highest reviews in the county right
now so this is the bag we give everyone
for tours so it comes in like a little
like we tried to inspire it by like the
Lulu
B so this has all the pricing front and
back it's actually a good price
unlimited daycare
$250 that's 20 visits per month really
good price it's a really good price and
a lot of people take advantage of it it
was like our grand opening price and we
haven't we haven't changed it yet but I
feel like that's way too low it's like
$12 a day
yeah not a lot of people use every
single day so it's kind of like a gym
model in that sense but we will probably
raise that that was just for grand
opening just to get people in cuz the
daycare really fuels the boarding as
well people that use us for daycare when
they go out of town they're going to use
us for boarding as well who is your
first employee so our first employee
he's not with us anymore but he's not
dead I need to not say that how do I say
he's not working here anymore so our
first employee he's not working here
anymore he was just this random door
Dash driver he you have a bug on your
tooth I to too
our first employee was just just a
door Dash driver that was delivering for
us he came in and he was like this is
awesome can I work here and I was like
sure cuz we needed help it was right
before 4th of July we opened in May so
our first employee was the 4th of July
and he came on just for a couple days
here in there and he really just helped
us get through that holiday and then he
ended up doing his own thing so he's not
with us anymore he's alive he just
doesn't work here he doesn't work here
anymore yes correct these are all the
dogs that are checked in for the day
this is the daycare side and then this
is the boarding side so there's always
more borders at the facility at least at
ours than daycare daycare is going to be
just daytime mostly play from 7: to 6:00
so that's going to be in the yards with
other dogs the overnight care is our
boarding side so they have their own
accommodations where they sleep eat go
about their daily routines and have that
special time like you would have at home
where they have their own place to lay
their head at night really use like a
hotel it's like a you have room service
and then you check out you turn it over
for anyone yeah exactly and that's kind
of what we wanted it to be like it's
very cool yeah it's a dog cot this these
are from Canda the brand and they're
really they they're like bulletproof so
dogs can chew on them all day uh the
rooms are all 4x6 and then the bed takes
up like probably a fourth of the room so
they get all that space two dogs can
comfortably sit on this bed which is
awesome what point was the business
making enough money that you realize
like wait a second this could be
something big I would say probably at
the six Monon Mark is when we started
seeing that because we were full almost
every weekend uh we had employees we
couldn't keep up we were just we were
just having to hire people and hire
people and hire people and then we ran
out of space so we decided we have to
expand or we had to go get another
location which we chose to uh expand but
then it's just the community started
just tooting us up we won the best of
bay which is like a little award thing
here um our Google reviews started
shooting up our Facebook reviews and
people really showed that they like the
brand so we just had to keep we have to
keep going for that you have to be so on
top of everything cuz if you if you mess
up one thing it could be like if you
forget to medicate a dog for example
it's like if you don't keep charts and
you don't keep organized you could
really like mess something up like you
have to you have to not just be in it
because you like dogs you have to be in
it because you're organized you like the
people you like the dogs you have to
like every aspect of it not just dogs a
lot more to it all right Graham it's
time to do a bath so we're going to be
doing s's bath he's a big doodle so
we're gonna want to put an apron on so
we don't get wet yeah you don't have to
get his face we can wash his face by
hand yeah oh we got this oh my
God so far this is really nice uh it's
an easy bath but then again I'm getting
an easy dog I would imagine if it were
like a little little one who's maybe a
little feisty would not be as easy as
this guy
oh oh gosh so how many washes do you
usually do in a day uh on it depends on
the day like a day where there's a lot
of checkouts and boarding we might do 10
10 in a day really so you got to yeah
this bathtub stays occupied pretty much
at all times just do like three sprays
boom boom boom this just don't get in
his eyes I actually really like this and
I can search for the cheapest place to
buy it online but Graham how the OnePlus
op open canvas is powered by Google's
Android software for foldable
smartphones with this technology you can
view three applications simultaneously
when the device is unfolded an
experience that even Apple's IOS doesn't
offer plus when I'm in the middle of
something with the larger screen I able
to easily multitask and use apps like
Google Lens to search for a product and
then I could buy it in seconds without
losing my place on the screen it
honestly feels like I have a mini
desktop right here in my hand I also
really like that if you're on a break
and you just want to relax for a little
bit you can watch YouTube in a proper
size that's not on a tiny little screen
like this makes it so enjoyable and then
if you want to comment it's so easy all
the comments are right here at the
bottom of the screen what are you doing
with the money that you're making from
here because it's a substantial amount
every month how much do you live off of
we don't take anything we take I think
it's after tax $7.90 a week so we take
just a little bit just enough to pay our
expenses cuz we just want to grow the
business and get more locations and make
more impact on everyone in different
communities as well and that's split
between the both of you yeah 790 between
us both less than $400 a week each yeah
we live comfortable it's we don't really
notice it we get to do what we want to
do and you know we've got a car that
gets us from point A to point B we love
our house our dogs are happy and
comfortable so as long as we're comfy
doesn't really matter how much it's
hitting the ACT our bank account we're
pretty much full every single weekend so
we decided we either need to make a new
store or renovate back here so this is
our old big dog yard that we're walking
into and it's becoming another new
building which is going to be about
double the size of the building we were
in all day they just finished the block
and they're framing next week and it's
probably going to be about two more
months until we're done with it this is
massive yeah what 4,000 ft yeah 3,800
roughly I'm close I'm good I got to say
you are close I had no idea so they're
going to connect all the concrete up and
it's just going to be like one seamless
integration there and so how many dogs
could you fit back here we're going to
add 40 of those nicer sweets so it's all
going to be the nice ones instead of the
condo ones okay so that'll add 32 of
those and then we're adding eight new
rooms I'm really excited for the
expansion I think that's going to be
awesome my dogss will be the first ones
to get to watch the TV in the new doggy
room so what do you mean TV in the new
doggy room yeah TV in the new doggy room
so yeah Stony loves Netflix is there
actually going to be a TV and yes this
is my first time hearing about this so
what is this there's a TV in so there's
supposed to be like a new condo coming
for I have two like 100 lb dogs so um
it's supposed to be like a new Executive
Suite and they have like their own
little personal doggy TVs and my dogs
like love TV so yeah it's going to be
awesome and so what are their favorite
shows what do they like watching um
Stony likes dog YouTube he likes
watching like little weenie
dogs play on YouTube he does yeah but
I've heard dogs love Bluey so we might
try that out Bluey it's like the current
kids show really yeah yeah it's like you
know what Peppa Pig is okay well me
either um I've never seen Peppa Pig why
put TVs in it that seems a little bougie
a little excessive it is bie but it's a
good background sound dogs they feel
more at home like maybe they don't watch
the TV per se dogs might but for the
most part if they just have that sound
they'll feel like they're on the couch
at home so it's like it's a little bit
of comfort level it's a little bit of
yeah it could be gimmicky yet in in a
sense but then what's this going to be
here so these two doors are leading out
to playards so this is going to be the
large dog yard out here just say like a
fence is going to be like here for
example yeah and then the small yard
will be here and we'll also have indoor
playroom so when it rains when it's hot
when it's cold it doesn't really get
cold here but I was wondering wondering
what you do when it rains when it rains
we run every dog inside and just hope
for the best really and it's not fun
that's why we did this really do you
ever worry about maybe like not filling
this up with enough I'm not worried
about it because we're so full and we
have to turn away like 15 20 people some
weekends like the holiday weekend so
it's like I don't doubt that we're going
to fill it up and we could even fill up
this and that would be awesome we have
the best customers ever here at zumies
they are so supportive and we would do
anything for them you can ask them
anything and they'll let you know
everybody seems to love our dog so I
mean he's excited to come here Josh one
of the owners showed us around he showed
us the kennels the Playard he explained
everything he explained the prices so I
was really excited because I have two
puppies yeah and how do they like it
here they love it they look forward to
coming they send an email every day with
three pictures a little demeanor happy
miss mommy needed hugs and two to five
sentences I mean it's just it's just
something you know you miss them and you
want to make sure they're happy and this
place makes them happy how did you come
up with the report card that gets sent
every evening cuz that was something we
would want like what would we want with
our dogs we want to know what's going on
like if if something happens I want to
know who he who my dog played with that
day or like a picture of my dog even
would do wonders and not a lot of places
do that or they charge you for it we
just include it with every boarding
guest just because it's so important to
us so during the day in the playards
while dogs are enjoying group play and
participating in play with their friends
we send out and take pictures for daily
reports and then these go home to their
parents at the end of the night between
6:00 and 7:00 and these are sent to our
overnight borders hip had a great day
playing with her friends her best friend
was Marlo and then we'll scroll past she
didn't have any health notes or concerns
and then we upload our picture for the
day
and there it is and that will be sent
home to her mom shows her a happy nice
smiling face looks like she enjoyed her
day and then we just press create and it
sends on over what are your thoughts
about running a business with somebody
you're not married to yet at the end of
the day marriage is just a legal
agreement you can have any kind of
agreement that you want I think you just
have to have full trust at that point in
your significant other he trusts me I
trust him um and I would say if you're
married maybe that's just kind of a
safety net that is making you feel
better um but anything can change in the
blink of an eye so I feel 100%
comfortable not being married are there
plans in the future
maybe what's your advice for any other
young entrepreneurs out there who might
want to do something similar uh take the
leap of
faith hold on I got to say more than
that yeah
I got to say a little more I got to say
a little more than that take the leap
yeah jump off my thoughts overall it's
it's really impressive it's a really
good business my biggest concern is
possibly scaling this and building it up
in another community that you don't live
in full time and then I'm worried
splitting your time between locations
means that you're going to get less
FaceTime here it seems as though a lot
of your customers come here for you guys
I mean obviously you're in a great
business but like they love you I think
regardless they come and they want to
see your faces they want to talk to you
and they love the service so replicating
that somewhere else I think is going to
be the biggest challenge oh my other
criticism I think you could raise prices
so I know your customers probably don't
want to hear that I'm sorry you know
what my favorite part of the day was the
photos that the OnePlus open took they
were so good and look how big it is it's
bigger than
yours oh and by the way I just want to
say that this has been my first full day
of using the OnePlus open Non-Stop and I
have to say it's held up incredibly well
the front cover cover screen has a
ceramic guard that's 20% more resistant
than rectus glass the main display has
an anti-reflection screen protector it's
drop tested from 1 and 1/2 m test folded
400,000 times and that means it's good
for 100 folds a day for the next 10
years which realistically I'm never even
coming close to even in such a chaotic
environment where the dogs are jumping
on me constantly the phone performed
beautifully and the video I mean just
take a look at this we've also been
using the portrait mode to take photos
of the dogs at the end of the day for
the report card and they came out in I
love even just opening up in front of
people and having them look at it and
just seeing their faces and their
reactions are really cool so again the
link is down below in the description
get one for yourself enjoy thank you so
much and until next time
