Hi everyone! Welcome back to another 00:00
mmmEnglish lesson. 00:02
I'm in London at the moment and I decided to contact 00:04
another English teacher who has a channel on Youtube! 00:08
You might know her... It's Lucy from English with Lucy! 00:12
We are going to meet together on camera 00:16
so that you can learn a little bit more 00:19
about how to introduce yourself in English! 00:22
Hello! Hi! It's so nice to meet you! 00:26
Lovely to finally meet you. 00:30
How are you? 00:31
I'm well, how are you? 00:33
I'm good thank you. How are you? 00:34
How are you finding London? 00:36
So far it has been incredible, like I've been, you know, 00:37
working really hard but also having lots of fun as well. 00:42
It's just the weather that's not quite my cup of tea! 00:45
It's not great! It's a bit grey at the moment. 00:48
It's a little bit grey and a little bit drizzly, 00:50
a little bit cold for me! 00:53
I've spent a few days up in Scotland as well, 00:55
which was even colder, so I guess now.. 00:58
What's it like in Australia? 01:00
At the moment we're just going into summer 01:02
so it's starting to get warm. 01:04
I'm envious! 01:06
I'm looking forward to getting back there actually. 01:08
Do you live near the beach? 01:10
I do, yeah! I live in Melbourne right near the beach. Yeah. 01:11
And how long are you going to stay here for? 01:15
Probably just another few days actually 01:17
so I've been here for about two weeks already. 01:19
Do you miss home? 01:22
Not really! It's nice to get out and explore 01:24
and see new things and meet lots of new 01:27
people, like yourself! So yeah. 01:29
Yeah I love travelling. 01:31
Do you? So where have you been traveling recently? 01:32
Well, I used to live in Spain. I got to see quite a lot 01:36
of Spain. I haven't been traveling recently. 01:39
I did go on a holiday to Spain this summer 01:42
but I'm looking to move abroad very soon! 01:45
Really? 01:49
I'm looking to go back to Spain very, very soon. 01:50
I would love to visit Spain! I've never been. 01:53
Haven't you? No. 01:56
Have you been to many other countries? 01:56
I have been... Yeah I've travelled quite a lot. 01:58
I've been to Greece, so you know, warm, beautiful 02:02
beaches, lovely in summer - that kind of thing. 02:05
I went to Greece this summer! I went to Kefalonia, 02:07
one of the islands. 02:11
It is such a gorgeous part of the world. 02:12
The food! And the food! 02:15
It's like a mix of Greek and Italian food together, 02:17
just my two favorites! 02:20
The European summer is lovely. 02:22
It's a shame about the winter! 02:24
I know! I'll make sure that I'm back here 02:26
for the summer next time! 02:28
And you need to visit Spain! 02:30
Yes! 02:32
Spain is my favourite country in the world! 02:33
Yes, I know! It's been on my list for many years. 02:35
And the food there - if you like like the Greek food, 02:39
then you're going to love Spanish food! 02:41
I'm a bit tired of eating Spanish food in restaurants 02:42
anywhere else in the world except in Spain. 02:46
It's just not the same! It's not the same! 02:48
And I'm looking forward to having my first proper 02:51
'siesta' as well! 02:53
Have you never had one before? We need to correct that 02:56
Not officially, no. 02:59
So, I've seen on your channel that you quite like cooking. 03:00
Yes. 03:02
How did you get into that? 03:03
Well to be honest, I learnt a lot of it 03:04
from my my fiancé, Shah. 03:09
So he is an excellent cook and I guess when you 03:11
get in a relationship with someone, 03:15
you have to kind of 'up the ante' a bit 03:17
so he was a really good cook and I needed to 03:19
impress him with my skills! 03:23
Well, cooking for one just, it's not same, is it? 03:25
Actually, I'm awful at cooking for one. 03:29
I always make about six meals worth 03:31
and then I have to end up freezing it, 03:35
which is kind of helpful 03:36
but I'm not good at cooking for one. 03:37
Well I recently moved back with my parents 03:39
for a short while before moving on to another country 03:41
and the best part of it is is being able to cook 03:44
for three other people 03:47
I thought you were going to say that you 03:49
the best part about it is you get like home-cooked meals 03:51
every night! 03:53
No! I make them myself! 03:54
You do it yourself? 03:55
Yeah! That's like my sort of agreement. 03:55
You can have me here, and I'll cook for you! 03:58
What's your specialty? 04:01
Well I did travel in Italy a little bit... 04:03
Actually, I didn't go to Italy, I went to Palermo in Sicily! 04:06
And they taught me how to make a mean risotto! 04:09
But I really like experimenting, so I kind of ask my 04:12
dad and my brother because they're the most 04:17
appreciative: "What do you fancy?" And then I try and 04:18
do it but with a twist! 04:21
So, if they want Mexican, then I'll do some sort of.. 04:23
I like to invent! 04:26
We're quite opposite in that sense, 04:27
I'm very much like a find a really good recipe 04:29
and make the recipe. 04:32
See I like to find a couple of recipes, 04:34
take inspiration from them and then rewrite it myself! 04:36
That sounds interesting and very exciting! 04:39
So, what's your number one recipe then? 04:42
I love cooking Thai food actually! 04:45
I do love a Thai green curry! 04:47
Yeah. 04:49
But I find it hard to find a good paste. 04:50
Well I make all of my pastes myself! 04:53
So, that's why mine are so good! But yeah, it's 04:57
all about the paste, right? So you cook that first, 05:01
then you deal with the rest of it. 05:04
So, you must have lived in quite a few countries then? 05:06
I have, I've definitely travelled and visited a few 05:10
I've only lived in... I was born in Australia 05:13
and I've lived most of my life in Australia 05:16
but I have spent some time living in Vietnam 05:18
and also in Malaysia. 05:22
I've never been to Asia at all! 05:23
Haven't you? 05:26
In fact, I have only ever left Europe twice. 05:26
Once was to go to Jamaica 05:30
and once was to go to Grenada 05:31
Oh, really? You're a Caribbean kind of girl. 05:33
I've lived in, just in Spain. I lived in Madrid 05:36
and I lived in Seville. 05:40
Beautiful part of the world! 05:44
And London and the countryside in England. 05:45
I'm from Bedfordshire. 05:47
What's the countryside like? 05:49
So green that sometimes when I get off the train, 05:51
I have to put my sunglasses on because it hurts my eyes! 05:54
It's beautiful! Lovely in spring and summer. 05:56
Autumn is stunning 06:00
because you get all of the fall of the leaves. 06:01
Yeah. 06:03
And winter's nice. It does snow, occasionally. 06:04
Where I'm from it's quite flat, but if you go further, 06:07
quite flat but if you go further, 06:09
further afield you can go down hills and everything. 06:11
Yeah. 06:13
But I'm looking to live in some other countries, soon! 06:14
Not sure! 06:17
That's one of the things that I love most about teaching 06:19
and meeting new people is there are so many 06:21
opportunities to, you know, travel and go to 06:24
different places, and places that you never really 06:27
expected to go either! 06:29
Yeah! I mean, it's journey, isn't it? You just end up 06:31
doing things that you never, ever imagined 06:34
and meeting lots of random people.. like you! 06:36
Exactly! 06:41
Running into you in London! 06:42
Okay Emma! Well, I would love to show you 06:45
my neighborhood so why don't we go grab a coffee? 06:47
Yeah I'd love to have a little bit of a walk around. 06:49
That sounds great! Let's do it! 06:51
And have a chat? Continue chatting? 06:53
Okay! 06:54
Well, i hope you enjoyed that video about introducing 06:56
yourself to someone that you've never 06:59
met before! 07:01
So there was lots of small talk and 07:02
conversation topics that you can use 07:05
when you first meet someone! So if you 07:07
would like to continue the conversation 07:10
with Lucy and I, she has another video on 07:13
her YouTube channel: English with Lucy 07:16
You can find the link underneath this 07:19
video and in that video we're going to 07:21
be talking about our jobs and what we do! 07:25
