[Music] 00:06
I am currently standing in front of my 00:19
apartment because I'm about to do a tiny 00:21
Korean apartment tour for the first 00:23
time. Uh, it's been about six months 00:25
since I moved in here, so I have been 00:27
waiting for a long time until making 00:30
this video. Uh, but I know these videos 00:32
are really, really popular on YouTube 00:34
and I watch this video a lot, especially 00:35
when I move. So, I thought I would just 00:37
give it a go and show you guys my tiny 00:39
Korean apartment. So, without further 00:42
ado, do you want to come inside? The 00:44
first thing I want to show you is my 00:46
entrance, which is the typical Korean 00:48
little square. So, you can take off your 00:51
shoes. And then, um, behind all these 00:53
bags, there is a shoe cabinet. And it's 00:56
a bit messy because I have quite a lot 01:00
of shoes. I think this is originally for 01:01
umbrellas, but I use that for my high 01:04
boots. And then I have these two 01:06
drawers, which one is for makeup, and 01:07
another one I use for accessories. I 01:12
have everything from sunglasses to hair 01:14
clips and belts and hats in here. I also 01:18
added these 01:21
hooks so that I have a place to store my 01:23
bags because it's quite a small 01:26
apartment. And then the best thing for 01:27
me about the entrance is this big mirror 01:29
that was glued on the wall when I moved 01:31
in. So, um I have this that I can use 01:33
for makeup in the morning. And this 01:38
light is actually quite good for doing 01:39
your 01:40
makeups. So, when I moved in, there was 01:42
already this mosquito screen installed, 01:44
which is really nice for when I want to 01:47
have my door open. So I don't have any 01:48
mosquitoes coming in and out. So I'm 01:50
really happy about that because I really 01:52
like to air out everything. Hanging rack 01:54
which I use for jackets, both my jackets 01:56
and if I have like friends over, they 01:59
can put their jacket as well. So from 02:01
this entrance area, you just go straight 02:02
directly into the kitchen. Uh which I 02:05
don't mind. And it's quite a big kitchen 02:08
compared to what you see in standard 02:11
small Korean apartments. So I'm really 02:14
really happy about that. And that was 02:16
definitely one of the things that made 02:18
me choose and decide on this apartment. 02:20
First of all, one of my favorite 02:22
features of this kitchen is that there's 02:23
a big sink because whenever I have to 02:25
wash like big salad leaves or when I 02:27
make kimchi or when I make something 02:29
that's like big and messy, I hate having 02:30
to compress myself. So, the fact that 02:33
this is like huge and I can wash 02:35
everything comfortably just makes it so 02:37
nice for me. And what I really love 02:39
about the water 02:41
is this feature. 02:45
just like a proper 02:48
hose. I have a little matcha station 02:52
where I make um matcha in the morning. I 02:56
also have some normal green tea in here. 03:00
It's just tea 03:02
bags. The kitchen is also equipped with 03:03
this really nice gas stove for cooking, 03:06
obviously. 03:08
Um, it's going to make me sound so 03:10
picky, but having a gas stove was one of 03:13
my main conditions for the kitchen. I 03:15
don't know why, but for some reason, I 03:18
can't really wrap my head around cooking 03:19
with induction. I feel like the food 03:21
just becomes better when I can use gas. 03:22
So, uh, the fact that this has like 03:26
three huge gas outlets just makes me 03:28
very fulfilled when I cook. It's also 03:32
equipped like most Korean apartments 03:35
with a washing machine in the kitchen. 03:37
That is just completely normal LG 03:39
washing machine. Nothing special about 03:41
it. But it is very convenient that I can 03:42
do my laundry at home. Let me show you 03:45
what's in the cabinets. My plates and 03:47
dishes are just normal white ones. I 03:49
have no idea where they're from. I got 03:51
them as a present from my previous boss. 03:52
The real ones would know that I bought 03:55
these at a flea market in my 03:56
neighborhood uh some time ago, but 03:58
they're just really cute small cups. 03:59
Normal mixing bowls from Daisol. I have 04:01
this huge soup bowl that I use a lot for 04:04
uh when I make like warm soups in the 04:07
winter like miso or some kind of Korean 04:09
chik or any kind of stew. It's so big 04:12
and beautiful. And then I have all these 04:14
like smaller Japanese dishes. Some 04:16
dehydrated citrus fruits which my best 04:19
friend Michelle actually sent from 04:21
Denmark. Her dad her dad made these from 04:23
fruits at home. They have a dehydrating 04:26
machine and we used them for like fancy 04:28
cocktails. So, the fact that she sent me 04:30
some so I can have like a fancy cocktail 04:32
here in Korea is so nice. So, this is 04:34
where I keep dry ingredients. And I can 04:37
just show you a few things. There's 04:39
everything in here like kitchen scale, 04:41
kimbab roll, beans for my protein, 04:43
decaffeinated instant coffee. This one 04:46
is good. In the CU Canadian store, they 04:49
have these spicy sea what is it? Spicy 04:51
seafood soup flavored protein chips. And 04:54
they're honestly so good. I bought like 04:56
three. You can see I bought like three 04:59
packs of these for when my mom is 05:01
arriving. She's going to visit me soon 05:02
and I know she's just going to love 05:04
these with like as like kind of a 05:05
healthy snack. So, I'm stocked up on 05:07
these. If you ever come here, like if 05:09
you ever ever see these and see you, you 05:10
can try these. And they're quite spicy. 05:12
So, I really really enjoy these. Let's 05:14
do a fridge tour, shall we? So, in here 05:15
is just, you know, obviously all of my 05:18
food. I have my favorite go-to soy 05:19
yogurt. I have the matcha that I showed 05:22
you. If you don't know, you should put 05:26
your matcha in the fridge. I have some 05:27
Scandinavian shrimps that I was gifted. 05:29
I have some Danish honey that I brought 05:31
from home. Then I have tofu, sweet 05:33
pumpkin, avocados, potatoes, chicken 05:36
breast, radishes, apple cider vinegar, 05:38
jalapenos, all of my whole grains like 05:41
brown rice, etc. Miso paste, water. I 05:43
also have a very spicy wasabi. When I 05:46
was apartment hunting, it was really, 05:49
really difficult to find an apartment 05:51
that had like a big size fridge. They 05:53
all had those kind of mini like what is 05:55
it like mini bar type of things that you 05:58
see in hotels and whatever or at least 06:00
like half size with no fridge and that 06:02
was just not really the vibes for me. I 06:05
remember when I stepped in this 06:07
apartment I just immediately saw the gas 06:08
stove and the fridge and I was like okay 06:10
I'm moving in. I don't care. And then 06:12
the bathroom is an extension with the 06:15
entrance. So, um, when you walk in, you 06:18
just see the sink right away and the 06:22
mirror and you see me. So, this mirror 06:25
was also installed when I moved in, 06:28
which is very pleasant. The cabinet was 06:30
also installed. I don't know why the 06:32
hell there is these 06:34
gold stripes in it. I hate that. But, 06:36
nonetheless, I love having a cabinet 06:39
that's already installed. So, another 06:41
pro for me and another like condition 06:43
was that I could separate the toilet and 06:46
the sink from the shower. And as you can 06:49
see, I can do that here quite well. So, 06:52
I'm very very happy about that. I bought 06:55
this um product shelf in Daiso and just 06:59
basically glued it onto the wall. It's 07:02
like one of those adhesive ones. And 07:04
here I just have my cleansing foam, 07:06
shampoo, body lotion, like a scalp 07:09
scrub. Uh, I use this too for apple 07:11
cider vinegar, which is like a good 07:13
treatment for your scalp. I don't know 07:15
how you call this, but to wipe down the 07:16
walls, uh, after showering because I 07:18
don't like having a moldy bathroom. So, 07:20
I like to just get the water off of the 07:22
walls and the floor right away. And then 07:25
there is a teeny tiny window, which is 07:26
really good for circulation. And then 07:28
from here, you can see that I have like 07:30
hand soap and toothpaste and everything. 07:32
Put up this like fancy um, dust bag. I 07:34
also have this like heater because in 07:37
the winter gets so cold. There's no 07:39
heating in the bathroom. I only found 07:40
that out like after I had moved in. So 07:42
when you shower in the winter, it's 07:45
literally like taking a shower in the 07:47
Antarctica. So I bought this heater and 07:49
when I shower in the winter, I I turn on 07:51
the heating like 10 minutes before my 07:53
shower and then the room is like fine. 07:55
But yeah, so far it's been fine. So 07:57
behind this curtain you find my bed. I 08:01
also have my closet at the same space, 08:06
which is very small. I would have loved 08:10
a bigger closet, but that was just not 08:14
in the cards for this place, so I guess 08:15
I have to do with that. This closet was 08:17
already installed when I moved in. I 08:19
have glued up this whiteboard to the 08:21
cabinet, which I use for planning my 08:24
studies and my work and my YouTube 08:27
videos and my day and to-do list and to 08:29
buy list and everything. And then across 08:31
from my bed is my desk area, which I 08:34
think is probably my favorite area of 08:38
the house because this is where I spend 08:40
all of my time. I have all of my books 08:43
that I'm reading and my Korean studying 08:45
books, my journals and like writing 08:47
books for notes and a few pens, my 08:49
glasses, of course, my laptop that I 08:53
use, my big camera. And then I also have 08:56
like a very cute selection of items that 08:59
I want to show you. seashell that I 09:01
found out in Inchan. There is this 09:03
really nice like this beach with a lot 09:04
of really huge seashells for some 09:06
reason. So, I picked up this one and I 09:08
cleaned it and took it home and now I 09:10
like use it for jewelry and I just think 09:13
it looks so cute and it's really pretty 09:15
and shiny. This holder for incense, 09:17
these aroma sticks that you can burn in 09:20
your house and then they provide like a 09:22
really nice fragrance. It's from a brand 09:24
called Omu and they do like really cute 09:26
interior and like like house goods and 09:28
stuff. They have a store as well, I 09:30
think, in Unuk area. So, if you're ever 09:32
in Korea, you should definitely check 09:34
out this brand. I also have a little 09:36
package that I need to open. It's um a 09:39
really, really beautiful silver ring. 09:43
It's from a new Korean brand of silver 09:45
jewelry. It's called Yu 09:48
ujwelry.com. And it's basically like 09:51
very niche and kind of bold but timeless 09:55
jewelry pieces. and they do silver only 09:59
and everything is handmade here in 10:03
Korea. If you want to find something for 10:04
yourself that's like that you're not 10:06
going to see elsewhere. This is really 10:08
good. Um I love this brand. You really 10:09
should check it out if you are in the 10:11
look for timeless silver jewelry. So do 10:13
that. As you can see, there's so much 10:16
good daylight and sunlight in my 10:18
apartment. And that is just another 10:19
thing I absolutely love about this 10:21
place. I love that I can feel the sun 10:23
and the air and I can hear the birds 10:26
chirp and everything. times actually 10:27
when I wake up around 8 or 9 the sun is 10:29
like shining me directly in the face 10:31
which I actually don't mind a natural 10:33
way of waking up. Yeah. So this is my 10:36
desk area. Also this is an IKEA table 10:38
and this one is actually not I can still 10:40
move this tabletop around. So sometimes 10:43
when I have people over I just twist it 10:45
and then we can sit like and use it as a 10:47
dining table rather than a desk. Uh 10:49
because in that way I save some space 10:51
from not having like two big tables like 10:53
dining table and a desk. Another 10:55
cabinet. I take no responsibility over 10:58
this place. This is just under my desk. 11:01
The only thing it's sitting here is my 11:03
feet. So, I don't care about this mess. 11:04
Sorry. So, when I moved into the 11:07
apartment, I knew that it would kind of 11:09
bother me that I couldn't separate the 11:10
bedroom from the kitchen. So, that's why 11:12
I installed these curtains. Uh, so I can 11:15
like actually pull it all the way 11:18
through and then the kitchen area is 11:20
separated from the bedroom. Or at least 11:23
it feels like that. I just found these 11:24
kind of adhesive curtain rod holders. So 11:26
if I want to have a more living space, I 11:29
just move my curtain from here to there. 11:31
And then obviously the bedroom is 11:34
smaller, but then I have more space out 11:35
here. Let me try to pull them all the 11:37
way through so you can see how it looks. 11:39
So it looks like that when I pull them 11:40
through. So you know, it gives the 11:42
illusion of of a separated space even 11:44
though it's not. So that's a little hack 11:46
from me to you. If you also live in a 11:49
one room, if you and you don't know how 11:50
to separate your spaces without making 11:52
like jewels or holes in the walls, a 11:53
curtain and adhesive curtain rod 11:56
stickers are the way to go. Yeah, they 11:58
also give a little bit of a romantic 12:01
female feminine vibe in here. Especially 12:03
when I go to sleep, it makes me feel 12:05
like a little bear 12:07
hibernating. Another thing that was 12:10
really important for me is keeping my 12:12
air clean. So, I got this air purifier 12:14
from Samsung. As you can see, I also 12:16
have this balcony out here, which is 12:18
another like big big big big big big 12:19
bonus of this apartment. I don't think I 12:21
would have been able to live here if I 12:23
didn't have this because um it's just so 12:25
good for drawing like laundry, having a 12:28
cup of coffee in the morning, airing out 12:30
the space, you know, getting some 12:31
vitamin D. I have put this little 12:33
um like lantern that lights up really 12:36
beautifully in the evening. And then I 12:39
am decorating this ugly glass window 12:41
over there with like photo booth photos 12:44
and birthday cards and whatever. There's 12:46
also a mosquito screen which you can do 12:48
like that. And then mosquitoes can't 12:51
enter my actual house. Yeah, I I love 12:52
this 12:55
[Music] 12:57
space. Wait, let me put my sunglasses 13:02
on. So, for this apartment, I pay $500 a 13:04
month, which is excluding utilities, but 13:08
they are usually not very high. They're 13:11
usually around, I would say, less than 13:13
$50. The neighborhood is in my dream 13:16
neighborhood, and there's a lot of 13:19
really nice cafes and restaurants. I 13:21
remember before I came back to Korea, 13:23
before I even looked for an apartment, I 13:25
was kind of checking uh Chikbang, which 13:27
is the website I use to find apartments. 13:29
I'm going to write like how you can find 13:31
it here on the video. Um, but I was 13:33
checking Chikbang like every week, every 13:35
day, just to see how the market is. And 13:36
at the time in this specific 13:38
neighborhood, like nothing ever came up. 13:40
And that's just usually how it is. It is 13:41
very, very competitive. It's very hard 13:43
to even get a place here. And it's also 13:44
quite expensive because it is so 13:46
popular. So, for me to find this like 13:48
$500 little gem, it was completely like 13:50
perfect for me. It came at the perfect 13:53
time. On the first day of my apartment 13:54
hunting, I saw this apartment as the 13:56
last one. and I was just immediately 13:58
like I signed a contract right away 14:00
because I just knew that the area and 14:02
the vibe and the balcony and the 14:04
daylight is just not something you can 14:05
find anywhere. Uh, also the view is 14:07
really really nice here and I live very 14:09
close to like a nature area. So I go and 14:12
work out there like several times during 14:14
the week. So the neighborhood for me is 14:16
just perfect. As I said, I found the 14:18
apartment on Tikbang and I went to see 14:20
it with a local Bungan which is like a 14:23
real realtor agent. Um there's so many 14:26
realtor agent offices in like any 14:28
neighborhood of soul. So you can always 14:30
just search like pongan and then you can 14:32
find like a budongan office in the area 14:34
where you want to be and usually they 14:36
also know the other pongans in the area. 14:38
So they have like an interconnected 14:41
little bubble where they like control 14:42
the neighborhood and the rentals. If you 14:45
ask me that's the most effective and 14:48
efficient way to find a house here in 14:50
soul if you want to rent longterm. 14:51
Obviously, if you're here like 14:53
shortterm, something like Airbnb or even 14:55
Craigslist or like Facebook groups is 14:56
like better, like for an exchange or 14:58
something. If there's anything I didn't 15:00
cover in this video that you're curious 15:01
about in terms of like finding a house 15:02
in Korea or this apartment or in 15:04
general, like if you need any tips and 15:06
tricks, leave me a comment. I would be 15:07
happy to answer any questions. This is 15:09
my third apartment in Korea and I have 15:11
lived in a lot of sharehouses and a lot 15:13
of Airbnbs in several different 15:15
neighborhoods. So, I can probably answer 15:17
the majority of questions related to 15:19
housing. So, feel free to ask me 15:21
anything. And I also want to say that 15:23
the reason why I'm showing you this 15:25
apartment right now is because I'm 15:26
currently filming an apartment makeover 15:28
video because my mom is visiting Korea. 15:30
So, I need my apartment to be top tier. 15:33
Need to make this apartment a bit more 15:36
crisp and delicious. So, for that 15:38
reason, I'm going to film an apartment 15:40
makeover where I add some interior and 15:42
some something has to happen here for it 15:44
to be more welcoming to my mom. Uh, so 15:46
my mom is visiting Korea in a month from 15:48
now, and that's also going to be 15:50
documented here on my YouTube to see 15:52
like a Danish mom's first experience in 15:54
Korea. So, for that reason, I'm going to 15:56
be doing a 30-day Korean apartment 15:58
makeover and see how ready I can get 16:00
this place until my mom arrives. So, if 16:03
you're interested in seeing that, please 16:05
subscribe because I have such fun plans 16:06
for showing my mom's stay here in Korea 16:10
and like her reaction to my apartment 16:12
and to Korea and everything. I'm going 16:13
to be doing an updated version with the 16:15
apartment makeover and then after that I 16:17
will be sharing my mom's experience here 16:19
in Korea. So yeah, more content about 16:20
apartments to come and more like mom 16:23
visiting Korea content to come. So stay 16:25
tuned for that. So without further ado, 16:27
I will see you in my next video. Thank 16:29
you so much for stopping by today. Bye. 16:31

[Music]
I am currently standing in front of my
apartment because I'm about to do a tiny
Korean apartment tour for the first
time. Uh, it's been about six months
since I moved in here, so I have been
waiting for a long time until making
this video. Uh, but I know these videos
are really, really popular on YouTube
and I watch this video a lot, especially
when I move. So, I thought I would just
give it a go and show you guys my tiny
Korean apartment. So, without further
ado, do you want to come inside? The
first thing I want to show you is my
entrance, which is the typical Korean
little square. So, you can take off your
shoes. And then, um, behind all these
bags, there is a shoe cabinet. And it's
a bit messy because I have quite a lot
of shoes. I think this is originally for
umbrellas, but I use that for my high
boots. And then I have these two
drawers, which one is for makeup, and
another one I use for accessories. I
have everything from sunglasses to hair
clips and belts and hats in here. I also
added these
hooks so that I have a place to store my
bags because it's quite a small
apartment. And then the best thing for
me about the entrance is this big mirror
that was glued on the wall when I moved
in. So, um I have this that I can use
for makeup in the morning. And this
light is actually quite good for doing
your
makeups. So, when I moved in, there was
already this mosquito screen installed,
which is really nice for when I want to
have my door open. So I don't have any
mosquitoes coming in and out. So I'm
really happy about that because I really
like to air out everything. Hanging rack
which I use for jackets, both my jackets
and if I have like friends over, they
can put their jacket as well. So from
this entrance area, you just go straight
directly into the kitchen. Uh which I
don't mind. And it's quite a big kitchen
compared to what you see in standard
small Korean apartments. So I'm really
really happy about that. And that was
definitely one of the things that made
me choose and decide on this apartment.
First of all, one of my favorite
features of this kitchen is that there's
a big sink because whenever I have to
wash like big salad leaves or when I
make kimchi or when I make something
that's like big and messy, I hate having
to compress myself. So, the fact that
this is like huge and I can wash
everything comfortably just makes it so
nice for me. And what I really love
about the water
is this feature.
just like a proper
hose. I have a little matcha station
where I make um matcha in the morning. I
also have some normal green tea in here.
It's just tea
bags. The kitchen is also equipped with
this really nice gas stove for cooking,
obviously.
Um, it's going to make me sound so
picky, but having a gas stove was one of
my main conditions for the kitchen. I
don't know why, but for some reason, I
can't really wrap my head around cooking
with induction. I feel like the food
just becomes better when I can use gas.
So, uh, the fact that this has like
three huge gas outlets just makes me
very fulfilled when I cook. It's also
equipped like most Korean apartments
with a washing machine in the kitchen.
That is just completely normal LG
washing machine. Nothing special about
it. But it is very convenient that I can
do my laundry at home. Let me show you
what's in the cabinets. My plates and
dishes are just normal white ones. I
have no idea where they're from. I got
them as a present from my previous boss.
The real ones would know that I bought
these at a flea market in my
neighborhood uh some time ago, but
they're just really cute small cups.
Normal mixing bowls from Daisol. I have
this huge soup bowl that I use a lot for
uh when I make like warm soups in the
winter like miso or some kind of Korean
chik or any kind of stew. It's so big
and beautiful. And then I have all these
like smaller Japanese dishes. Some
dehydrated citrus fruits which my best
friend Michelle actually sent from
Denmark. Her dad her dad made these from
fruits at home. They have a dehydrating
machine and we used them for like fancy
cocktails. So, the fact that she sent me
some so I can have like a fancy cocktail
here in Korea is so nice. So, this is
where I keep dry ingredients. And I can
just show you a few things. There's
everything in here like kitchen scale,
kimbab roll, beans for my protein,
decaffeinated instant coffee. This one
is good. In the CU Canadian store, they
have these spicy sea what is it? Spicy
seafood soup flavored protein chips. And
they're honestly so good. I bought like
three. You can see I bought like three
packs of these for when my mom is
arriving. She's going to visit me soon
and I know she's just going to love
these with like as like kind of a
healthy snack. So, I'm stocked up on
these. If you ever come here, like if
you ever ever see these and see you, you
can try these. And they're quite spicy.
So, I really really enjoy these. Let's
do a fridge tour, shall we? So, in here
is just, you know, obviously all of my
food. I have my favorite go-to soy
yogurt. I have the matcha that I showed
you. If you don't know, you should put
your matcha in the fridge. I have some
Scandinavian shrimps that I was gifted.
I have some Danish honey that I brought
from home. Then I have tofu, sweet
pumpkin, avocados, potatoes, chicken
breast, radishes, apple cider vinegar,
jalapenos, all of my whole grains like
brown rice, etc. Miso paste, water. I
also have a very spicy wasabi. When I
was apartment hunting, it was really,
really difficult to find an apartment
that had like a big size fridge. They
all had those kind of mini like what is
it like mini bar type of things that you
see in hotels and whatever or at least
like half size with no fridge and that
was just not really the vibes for me. I
remember when I stepped in this
apartment I just immediately saw the gas
stove and the fridge and I was like okay
I'm moving in. I don't care. And then
the bathroom is an extension with the
entrance. So, um, when you walk in, you
just see the sink right away and the
mirror and you see me. So, this mirror
was also installed when I moved in,
which is very pleasant. The cabinet was
also installed. I don't know why the
hell there is these
gold stripes in it. I hate that. But,
nonetheless, I love having a cabinet
that's already installed. So, another
pro for me and another like condition
was that I could separate the toilet and
the sink from the shower. And as you can
see, I can do that here quite well. So,
I'm very very happy about that. I bought
this um product shelf in Daiso and just
basically glued it onto the wall. It's
like one of those adhesive ones. And
here I just have my cleansing foam,
shampoo, body lotion, like a scalp
scrub. Uh, I use this too for apple
cider vinegar, which is like a good
treatment for your scalp. I don't know
how you call this, but to wipe down the
walls, uh, after showering because I
don't like having a moldy bathroom. So,
I like to just get the water off of the
walls and the floor right away. And then
there is a teeny tiny window, which is
really good for circulation. And then
from here, you can see that I have like
hand soap and toothpaste and everything.
Put up this like fancy um, dust bag. I
also have this like heater because in
the winter gets so cold. There's no
heating in the bathroom. I only found
that out like after I had moved in. So
when you shower in the winter, it's
literally like taking a shower in the
Antarctica. So I bought this heater and
when I shower in the winter, I I turn on
the heating like 10 minutes before my
shower and then the room is like fine.
But yeah, so far it's been fine. So
behind this curtain you find my bed. I
also have my closet at the same space,
which is very small. I would have loved
a bigger closet, but that was just not
in the cards for this place, so I guess
I have to do with that. This closet was
already installed when I moved in. I
have glued up this whiteboard to the
cabinet, which I use for planning my
studies and my work and my YouTube
videos and my day and to-do list and to
buy list and everything. And then across
from my bed is my desk area, which I
think is probably my favorite area of
the house because this is where I spend
all of my time. I have all of my books
that I'm reading and my Korean studying
books, my journals and like writing
books for notes and a few pens, my
glasses, of course, my laptop that I
use, my big camera. And then I also have
like a very cute selection of items that
I want to show you. seashell that I
found out in Inchan. There is this
really nice like this beach with a lot
of really huge seashells for some
reason. So, I picked up this one and I
cleaned it and took it home and now I
like use it for jewelry and I just think
it looks so cute and it's really pretty
and shiny. This holder for incense,
these aroma sticks that you can burn in
your house and then they provide like a
really nice fragrance. It's from a brand
called Omu and they do like really cute
interior and like like house goods and
stuff. They have a store as well, I
think, in Unuk area. So, if you're ever
in Korea, you should definitely check
out this brand. I also have a little
package that I need to open. It's um a
really, really beautiful silver ring.
It's from a new Korean brand of silver
jewelry. It's called Yu
ujwelry.com. And it's basically like
very niche and kind of bold but timeless
jewelry pieces. and they do silver only
and everything is handmade here in
Korea. If you want to find something for
yourself that's like that you're not
going to see elsewhere. This is really
good. Um I love this brand. You really
should check it out if you are in the
look for timeless silver jewelry. So do
that. As you can see, there's so much
good daylight and sunlight in my
apartment. And that is just another
thing I absolutely love about this
place. I love that I can feel the sun
and the air and I can hear the birds
chirp and everything. times actually
when I wake up around 8 or 9 the sun is
like shining me directly in the face
which I actually don't mind a natural
way of waking up. Yeah. So this is my
desk area. Also this is an IKEA table
and this one is actually not I can still
move this tabletop around. So sometimes
when I have people over I just twist it
and then we can sit like and use it as a
dining table rather than a desk. Uh
because in that way I save some space
from not having like two big tables like
dining table and a desk. Another
cabinet. I take no responsibility over
this place. This is just under my desk.
The only thing it's sitting here is my
feet. So, I don't care about this mess.
Sorry. So, when I moved into the
apartment, I knew that it would kind of
bother me that I couldn't separate the
bedroom from the kitchen. So, that's why
I installed these curtains. Uh, so I can
like actually pull it all the way
through and then the kitchen area is
separated from the bedroom. Or at least
it feels like that. I just found these
kind of adhesive curtain rod holders. So
if I want to have a more living space, I
just move my curtain from here to there.
And then obviously the bedroom is
smaller, but then I have more space out
here. Let me try to pull them all the
way through so you can see how it looks.
So it looks like that when I pull them
through. So you know, it gives the
illusion of of a separated space even
though it's not. So that's a little hack
from me to you. If you also live in a
one room, if you and you don't know how
to separate your spaces without making
like jewels or holes in the walls, a
curtain and adhesive curtain rod
stickers are the way to go. Yeah, they
also give a little bit of a romantic
female feminine vibe in here. Especially
when I go to sleep, it makes me feel
like a little bear
hibernating. Another thing that was
really important for me is keeping my
air clean. So, I got this air purifier
from Samsung. As you can see, I also
have this balcony out here, which is
another like big big big big big big
bonus of this apartment. I don't think I
would have been able to live here if I
didn't have this because um it's just so
good for drawing like laundry, having a
cup of coffee in the morning, airing out
the space, you know, getting some
vitamin D. I have put this little
um like lantern that lights up really
beautifully in the evening. And then I
am decorating this ugly glass window
over there with like photo booth photos
and birthday cards and whatever. There's
also a mosquito screen which you can do
like that. And then mosquitoes can't
enter my actual house. Yeah, I I love
this
[Music]
space. Wait, let me put my sunglasses
on. So, for this apartment, I pay $500 a
month, which is excluding utilities, but
they are usually not very high. They're
usually around, I would say, less than
$50. The neighborhood is in my dream
neighborhood, and there's a lot of
really nice cafes and restaurants. I
remember before I came back to Korea,
before I even looked for an apartment, I
was kind of checking uh Chikbang, which
is the website I use to find apartments.
I'm going to write like how you can find
it here on the video. Um, but I was
checking Chikbang like every week, every
day, just to see how the market is. And
at the time in this specific
neighborhood, like nothing ever came up.
And that's just usually how it is. It is
very, very competitive. It's very hard
to even get a place here. And it's also
quite expensive because it is so
popular. So, for me to find this like
$500 little gem, it was completely like
perfect for me. It came at the perfect
time. On the first day of my apartment
hunting, I saw this apartment as the
last one. and I was just immediately
like I signed a contract right away
because I just knew that the area and
the vibe and the balcony and the
daylight is just not something you can
find anywhere. Uh, also the view is
really really nice here and I live very
close to like a nature area. So I go and
work out there like several times during
the week. So the neighborhood for me is
just perfect. As I said, I found the
apartment on Tikbang and I went to see
it with a local Bungan which is like a
real realtor agent. Um there's so many
realtor agent offices in like any
neighborhood of soul. So you can always
just search like pongan and then you can
find like a budongan office in the area
where you want to be and usually they
also know the other pongans in the area.
So they have like an interconnected
little bubble where they like control
the neighborhood and the rentals. If you
ask me that's the most effective and
efficient way to find a house here in
soul if you want to rent longterm.
Obviously, if you're here like
shortterm, something like Airbnb or even
Craigslist or like Facebook groups is
like better, like for an exchange or
something. If there's anything I didn't
cover in this video that you're curious
about in terms of like finding a house
in Korea or this apartment or in
general, like if you need any tips and
tricks, leave me a comment. I would be
happy to answer any questions. This is
my third apartment in Korea and I have
lived in a lot of sharehouses and a lot
of Airbnbs in several different
neighborhoods. So, I can probably answer
the majority of questions related to
housing. So, feel free to ask me
anything. And I also want to say that
the reason why I'm showing you this
apartment right now is because I'm
currently filming an apartment makeover
video because my mom is visiting Korea.
So, I need my apartment to be top tier.
Need to make this apartment a bit more
crisp and delicious. So, for that
reason, I'm going to film an apartment
makeover where I add some interior and
some something has to happen here for it
to be more welcoming to my mom. Uh, so
my mom is visiting Korea in a month from
now, and that's also going to be
documented here on my YouTube to see
like a Danish mom's first experience in
Korea. So, for that reason, I'm going to
be doing a 30-day Korean apartment
makeover and see how ready I can get
this place until my mom arrives. So, if
you're interested in seeing that, please
subscribe because I have such fun plans
for showing my mom's stay here in Korea
and like her reaction to my apartment
and to Korea and everything. I'm going
to be doing an updated version with the
apartment makeover and then after that I
will be sharing my mom's experience here
in Korea. So yeah, more content about
apartments to come and more like mom
visiting Korea content to come. So stay
tuned for that. So without further ado,
I will see you in my next video. Thank
you so much for stopping by today. Bye.
