2025 00:25

2025. 00:52
And what better time to reflect on the 00:54
year than at the beginning of the last 01:00
month of the year. Join me in reflecting 01:06
on the ups and downs, the highs and lows 01:13
of the year. This year was full of new 01:22
experiences, 01:28
good and bad, achievements 01:30
and regrets. 01:35
moments of joy 01:39
and moments of 01:42
learning. I think what I am most 01:44
proud of from this year was 01:51
deciding to create my Tik Tok channel. 01:57
Making the decision 02:04
to record myself one day and speak 02:07
slowly 02:13
and then to see the reaction 02:16
of all the people who loved my video. It 02:21
was a pivotal 02:27
moment in my life. 02:30
a lifechanging 02:34
moment 02:36
to then create my YouTube channel 02:38
shortly after 02:43
onto creating an English community 02:45
with people from all around the world 02:50
learning English. 02:56
This year has been crazy. 02:58
So many ups and downs, 03:03
but learning from both the achievements 03:07
and the failures, 03:13
finding the beauty in every moment 03:16
because that's what life is. 03:22
It can't all be good, but 03:27
that's what makes those good moments 03:33
so 03:38
special. 03:40
That's what keeps us positive 03:42
and grateful. 03:46
Knowing that even in the worst moments, 03:48
there will always be better moments. 03:55
Tell me, 04:02
what are you the most grateful for 04:04
from this year? What is the best thing 04:10
you achieved 04:17
this year personally, 04:19
professionally, 04:23
spiritually, 04:26
mentally, 04:28
physically, 04:30
or anything that made you feel 04:32
amazing. 04:37
Now it's hard to define 04:40
what achievement 04:46
is. 04:48
Achievement can look very different for 04:50
everyone. 04:55
What's achievement to you could be 04:57
failure to someone else. Whatever is a 05:01
failure to you could be an achievement 05:06
for someone else. For instance, 05:11
if I was doing a presentation 05:16
in front of a group of people 05:20
and I 05:25
stuttered a lot and I was nervous 05:27
and maybe I forgot 05:33
a few topics I was going to talk about, 05:36
but to me 05:41
that's still a huge success. It's a huge 05:44
achievement 05:51
because I was able 05:52
to speak 05:57
in public 05:59
and I never thought I would get over my 06:01
fear 06:08
of public speaking. 06:09
Now for someone else, 06:13
the presentation went wrong. 06:17
They messed up and stuttered. 06:21
They might consider it 06:26
a failure. 06:30
But now let's think who is going to be 06:32
able to see the positives, 06:38
the bright side to everything that 06:42
happens to them. Well, I am 06:46
because I can see it as an achievement, 06:52
not a failure. I think it's important to 06:58
notice 07:03
your small achievements. 07:05
Give yourself credit. 07:09
If you look for something, you'll find 07:14
it. 07:18
So, look for small achievements 07:20
throughout the day. 07:24
Give yourself credit for all those 07:27
little things that go unnoticed. 07:31
Notice them. 07:36
Don't let them go 07:39
unnoticed. 07:42
What's a small achievement 07:45
you had today? Now 07:49
regrets 07:54
from this year 07:55
to why did I do that? Regrets. 07:58
Let me say I hate regretting. 08:03
Ever since I was a little girl, 08:09
I have always hated regretting. 08:14
I have always said 08:19
I don't regret anything 08:22
because everything 08:26
absolutely everything happens for a 08:29
reason. 08:35
Everything that you've done wrong, 08:36
right, even the worst of decisions, 08:40
the worst of situations 08:47
made you the person that you are today. 08:50
And you wouldn't be the person you are 08:57
if it wasn't for those mistakes, 09:01
no matter what it is. When I was younger 09:06
and I would get in trouble with my 09:11
parents or my teachers, 09:15
I would never regret it, 09:20
but I would learn from it. 09:24
Just like right now, 09:29
I had to do this to be the person I am 09:32
today. 09:39
All the mistakes, 09:41
all the disregard, 09:43
maybe things that made the people I love 09:47
feel sad. 09:51
Regretting it only makes it worse. So 09:54
yes, I do learn from my mistakes, 09:59
but I don't regret them. I am the 10:05
perfect version of myself today. 10:10
And we are all the perfect versions of 10:15
ourselves 10:21
right now. Next year I will grow 10:22
and change 10:28
and I will probably make more 10:31
mistakes, 10:35
but 10:37
I will continue to be the perfect 10:39
version of myself. 10:43
I say perfect because we are all exactly 10:46
where we need to be. 10:52
We are exactly who we need to be right 10:55
now. Everything 11:01
will come and go 11:04
as it should 11:08
and all we can do 11:11
is flow with it and enjoy every moment 11:15
we can. So 11:22
like I said, I have no regrets from this 11:26
year. Everything that must happen 11:32
will happen. 11:37
What's your take 11:39
on regrets? 11:42
Do you agree or disagree with me? 11:45
Tell me why. 11:50
I would love to hear your take on this. 11:53
This year was full of feelings. 11:58
Feelings like happiness, 12:04
excitement, 12:07
fear, 12:09
hope, 12:11
love. 12:12
I started my year with a breakup. 12:14
I had to cancel my trip to New Zealand. 12:21
Then I started my slow English podcast, 12:26
going viral on Tik Tok and creating my 12:32
YouTube channel. 12:37
Then I traveled to Brazil for carnival. 12:40
Then I lived at the beach in Mexico 12:46
for a while. 12:51
I had my dream trip with my sister, 12:53
traveling to China, Japan, and Thailand. 12:59
And now I'm back for the holidays. 13:05
Christmas, New Year's, 13:11
three kings, 13:14
and I will be close to my family for 13:16
these special moments. 13:22
I have great expectations 13:26
and big dreams 13:31
for next year. 13:34
What were some of the feelings you had 13:37
this year? 13:42
What were some experiences 13:44
you had this year? Now, 13:47
even though New Year's is right around 13:52
the corner, 13:58
I've got to say, 14:01
I've never been a big fan of New Year's. 14:04
I've never been a fan of the saying 14:10
new year, new me. 14:16
It seems so unnecessary, 14:19
especially 14:25
during the winter, 14:26
like 14:30
the absolute worst time of the year to 14:31
start 14:37
fresh. 14:39
It's too cold to start exercising, 14:40
going on walks, 14:46
taking on new hobbies. 14:50
You naturally 14:54
just want to hibernate 14:57
during the winter. 15:01
It's cold. 15:04
You just want to be bundled up. 15:06
beneath the sheets, 15:11
eating, 15:13
reading books, and watching movies. 15:15
I think if you really want a fresh 15:20
start, 15:26
then start in the spring. 15:28
What better time to start fresh 15:32
than spring? 15:37
Spring is literally the season when the 15:40
world starts again. 15:45
The flowers are blooming 15:49
and so are you. 15:53
I also kind of hate the pressure 15:56
of starting fresh on New Year's. 16:03
needing to make 12 wishes. 16:08
Eat 12 grapes 16:14
all in one minute. 16:16
Wearing something red so that your year 16:20
goes well. 16:24
counting down to midnight because 16:26
the world will change completely the 16:32
minute we're in 2026. 16:36
It doesn't make any sense to me and it 16:41
just frustrates me. I get really anxious 16:45
when I feel under pressure. 16:51
Maybe I sound like the Grinch of New 16:56
Year's right now, but I have always just 17:00
hated feeling under pressure. 17:05
Feeling like something needs to go 17:10
right. 17:14
Otherwise, 17:16
everything will go wrong. 17:18
It makes me anxious 17:22
and I prefer 17:25
to not play these games with my mind. 17:28
I would rather keep my 17:33
peace of mind. 17:39
And to me, it doesn't even prove 17:42
anything. 17:46
Those first seconds of the year don't 17:48
define the rest of your year. I had the 17:54
worst New Year's last year 18:01
and so many good things happened to me 18:05
this year. 18:11
I don't even know what else I would ask 18:13
for. I got everything I ever dreamed of. 18:18
So, 18:24
new year, new me, new beginnings. 18:27
No, 18:32
no, 18:34
don't wait for tomorrow. 18:35
Don't wait for New Year's. 18:40
Don't even wait for spring. You can 18:43
start today. 18:47
On second thought, start right now. 18:50
Take control 18:56
and decide what you want to do 18:59
and do it. Like Nike says, just do it. I 19:03
always do what I want when I want to do 19:09
it. I don't wait for the right moment. 19:14
Sorry, I know I'm going on a tangent 19:21
about how much I hate New Year's, 19:26
my issues with New Year's, but I also 19:31
just like sleeping early. 19:37
And maybe you'll say, "Oh, 19:41
you're too young to be acting that way, 19:44
but I like sleeping early. 19:51
I don't like waiting to eat until 12 19:55
a.m. 20:01
and then staying up all night." 20:03
Truthfully, 20:08
if I could choose what to do on New 20:10
Year's, 20:14
I would watch a movie with my family, 20:16
eat dinner at a normal time, 20:21
wash my face, and go to sleep, 20:26
and wake up the next morning 20:31
and just 20:34
crochet. day. 20:36
Read a book, 20:39
lay in my hammock, 20:42
maybe go for a swim, 20:45
and start the year feeling 20:50
fresh, 20:54
not 20:56
tired and hung over. 20:57
So, that's all I have to say about that. 21:01
This video was a little bit different 21:07
from my normal content, 21:12
but if you enjoyed it as much as I did, 21:15
then leave a like and I will know you 21:20
want more videos like this. 21:25
Thanks for listening guys and I hope you 21:29
understood most of what I said. 21:33
If you did, congratulations to you. 21:38
If you didn't, continue practicing. You 21:43
will reach your goals. 21:47
See you next week. Have a wonderful day. 21:51
Bye. 21:54

Key Grammar Structures

  • Would you agree?

    ➔ Tag Question

➔ Used to invite agreement. The auxiliary verb 'would' is used with 'you' to form the tag. It expects a 'yes' or 'no' response. The speaker is seeking confirmation of a shared feeling or opinion.

  • Making the decision to record myself one day and speak slowly...

    ➔ Gerund as Subject Complement

➔ The gerund 'Making' functions as the subject complement, describing what the speaker's decision *was*. It follows the verb 'to be' (implied here). It emphasizes the *act* of making the decision.

  • What's achievement to you could be failure to someone else.

    ➔ Subjunctive Mood (implied)

➔ The sentence expresses a hypothetical situation. The 'could be' implies a possibility that is dependent on perspective. The subjunctive mood is often used to express wishes, doubts, possibilities, or hypothetical situations. The structure highlights the subjective nature of achievement and failure.

  • Give yourself credit for all those little things that go unnoticed.

    ➔ Reflexive Pronoun

➔ The reflexive pronoun 'yourself' indicates that the action of 'giving credit' is directed back to the subject ('you'). It emphasizes self-acknowledgement and self-appreciation.

  • Everything that you've done wrong, right, even the worst of decisions...

    ➔ Relative Clause with 'that'

➔ The clause 'that you've done wrong, right, even the worst of decisions' modifies 'Everything'. 'That' acts as a relative pronoun introducing the clause and referring back to 'Everything'. It provides further information about what 'everything' encompasses.
