[English]
Hi guys, it's Sid and welcome back.
It is currently 8:37 on a Saturday night
and I am having the best Saturday night
doing what I do best, scrolling on
Pinterest. You guys might think I'm
joking right now, but like this is
actually true. I've been specifically
saving a lot of things to my outfits
board. So, I thought why not film a
video of me trying to thrift the outfits
that I pinned. What often happens I
realize [clears throat] is I just save a
lot of the same thing. Like you can find
consistent themes throughout my board.
One of them being clearly a lot of
layering. I love layering and for some
reason I don't ever put in the efforts
to do it. So, I'm thinking getting some
long sleeve basics of things that I
could easily layer. I've also been
saving a ton of fall jackets. I love
this brown color, but I also like this
kind of more beige color as well.
Jackets for me are hit or miss, so we'll
see if we'll see how that goes. Speaking
of layering, one thing I've noticed a
lot of that I've been saving are tops
layered [music] over lace bralettes. I
love a good lace bralette. And the
problem is not the fact that I don't
need a lace bralette, but what I need is
something that I could layer over where
you can see underneath. Like a tank or
this button down tee, something where I
can style it nicely. I also really want
to see if they have any skirts. I really
like these ones. I wear the same mini
skirt that I have all the time and it's
getting a little redundant. In terms of
bags, I notice I'm saving a lot of stuff
that has some texture. Either suede,
which is pretty basic, [music] but so
beautiful. also really having liking
this weave pattern. Obviously Bottega's
known for that, but I also really love
these going out tops. There's so many
that are really cute, but it's just
something that I actually need. [music]
I feel like I have the same two tops
that I wear when I go out. I think I'll
know it when I see it type [music]
thing. And then I don't know, that's
kind of what I have saved at the moment.
It's so interesting when you take a look
at your Pinterest board from afar
[music] because often you do notice
these overall themes of things that
you're saving that you don't even
realize you're doing it. And I just want
to see what I can find second hand at
like a thrift store or vintage store.
So, I have the list of things that I
need or at least that I'm looking for
and I'm going to head to a couple of the
stores
>> [music]
>> tomorrow morning and I'll see you in the
morning.
>> [music]
[music]
>> Okay, I made it to Brooklyn. My first
stop is this place called L Train
Vintage and for some reason I can't
remember if I've been here. I think I
have. I'm also sort of regretting this
haircut because it's so short. Why did I
cut it this short? I don't know. I was
impulsive.
>> [music]
[music]
>> Okay, we really started from the bottom
here because this thrift store ended up
being a fail. I got nothing. For a
second I actually was interested in this
jacket, but then I realized there was a
giant hole in the arm. Special shoutout
though to the Minnesota Twins. I knew I
didn't want to buy anything just to buy
something. So, I guess it can only go up
from here. Okay, to be honest so far no
good. I do want to stick to my promise
to myself. I'm not going to like buy
something just to buy it. We're going to
keep going. Stay optimistic. I'm at this
place called Awoke Vintage in Brooklyn.
One of you guys came up to me actually
in the previous store. I was asking her
about this place and she said it was
pretty good, but it is a little bit more
expensive [music] cuz it's more of a
vintage store than a thrift store. We'll
see. I have no idea what to expect,
[music] but yes, before you ask I did
find this place on TikTok.
And I have no shame.
>> [music]
>> So, thank [music] goodness I didn't give
up because this is where I started to
see the light, okay? I will take a
TikTok rack very seriously, and I'm glad
I did because there were several people
who posted about this vintage shop on
there. I do have to say though, this is
more of a vintage store. The prices just
aren't [music] as cheap as a traditional
thrift store, but I was still excited to
see some cool second-hand things
starting with this Ralph Lauren jacket.
It really wasn't the fall theme jacket
that I was looking for, but it was also
a kid size. It was like an extra large
size in kids, so it kind of just like
fit me weird. I also tried on this
leather jacket which again, I don't
know. I couldn't put my finger on it,
but jackets are just like always tough
for me. And then I started to get a
little discouraged because I tried on
another shirt, and I wanted it to fit
tighter than it did. Passed on that.
Also didn't like this shirt, but this is
where things turned around. This shirt,
I think is the coolest shirt I've ever
thrifted. I love the sewn collar. I love
the flowers. I love everything about
[music] this, and it was only $35, which
I don't know if I should be saying only
35. Also found this jean skirt, which I
thought fit me pretty well.
Suddenly my spirits are lifted. I had a
much higher rate of success there.
Although it was more expensive, I think
it was worth it. I really love what I
got, and honestly like I recommend that
store. If you guys are ever in the area,
it was worth all of the hype and more.
>> [music]
>> I got hungry and thirsty, so I went to
Partners. It is uncomfortably [music]
quiet in here, but that doesn't stop me
from doing my favorite thing ever,
filming in public. I've been really in
my [music] black iced tea lemonade
Arnold Palmer era. I hate saying that
word. It's just so good and refreshing
like midday, so got one of those. I'm
also really hungry, and the kitchen was
closing in 3 minutes, so I felt very
pressured, and I asked the barista what
she recommended, and she recommended the
breakfast sandwich. And it comes with a
little cup of fruit. It's honestly a
little sad. There's like barely anything
in there. This channel slowly day by
day, week by week turns into a food
review channel and I don't really know
how I feel about that.
I can't tell if I'm just really hungry
or if it's a really good breakfast
sandwich. I'm feeling a lot better now
that I've had some success. I'm going to
revisit my Pinterest boards, remember
why I'm out here. Like this is serious.
This is serious work. I stopped at one
more vintage shop, Bedford Vintage. I
couldn't resist because again, TikTok
drew me in. This is like the same old
story, but they had really cool like
mesh detailed tops. And this one, when I
saw it immediately, I ran to the fitting
room with it. I love the wide neckline
and I also just love the pattern. This
was sort of what I was envisioning for a
going out just dinner top. It was $50.
So I knew I had to go to an actual
thrift store with thrift store prices
and I walked into Buffalo Exchange. Saw
this bag which I thought really fit
exactly what I was looking for in terms
of the woven style. They also had quite
a few long sleeves which I thought were
potentially nice for layering. Now don't
be fooled because this top threw me for
a loop at first and I thought this was
never going to happen, but I had a
little patience and persistence. I sort
of like tucked it in and I thought,
wait, this could actually work. Um I
love making this whole thing dramatic.
Anyways, then I went and I saw this
jacket. So basically, this was a massive
success. Shoutout Buffalo Exchange. Okay
guys, I'm back. Not to brag, but I do
think we did really well. And since the
second I got home, the only thing I can
think about is putting these outfits
together. Sometimes if I buy new pieces
and I don't spend the time putting
together outfits, I don't really know
how like what to wear stuff with. So
[music] I want to take a second, put
some outfits together based on
everything that I just got. Of course
using my style board as kind of a
reference. The art of styling is
definitely a skill. I used to be quite
bad at this.
And that makes it sound like I'm now
good at it. I wouldn't say that, but
I've definitely improved. And I think
more The more you style, the more you
kind of know and figure out what you
like and what you don't like. And it's
going to be kind of like a little mini
haul, cuz I'm going to show you guys
everything that I bought. First thing
I'm going to style is this long-sleeve
black top. Now, this was something you
guys know I almost didn't get because
when I first put it on my body, it
swallowed me.
That sounds weird. Okay. I did give it a
second chance. Once I sort of played
around with this and tucked it in, fixed
the sleeves, [music]
I thought this could be really cool to
layer like so. Since I've been really
loving a lot of layered pieces on
Pinterest, I thought this would be
perfect to do it with. This is the base
that we have. I'm thinking
jeans. Okay, jeans were definitely the
move. I threw on these Levi's that I
really love. Something I love that is
just such a classic easy thing to do is
throw on heels with jeans. And these
heels, I think will go so perfectly with
this top, right? I can't tell if I want
to do a belt with this. I actually don't
know how much I like the belt with this.
I think I kind of want to just keep it
really dressed [music]
down without it. Okay, so scratch the
belt. The secret to a good baggy tee, in
my opinion, is really figuring out the
art of tucking it properly. Sometimes
I'll just like stick it in the bottom of
my bra. I feel like I just always have
to play around with it a little bit
until it sits just right. Finishing it
off with this beautiful new bag that I
just got. Don't be fooled though, I did
not buy this. I'm trying out this thing
where I rent bags from It's called
Vivrelle. Okay, finishing touch, some
sunglasses. I just found these in the
bottom of my drawer. I don't even know
where I got them, but this is the final
look.
>> [music]
>> Okay, next thing I got that I want to
style is this top. This is from the
brand Vince. It was $20. This is one of
those pieces that I liked it 10 times
better once I put it on. Sometimes it's
opposite. Sometimes something looks good
and then I put it on and it's worse.
[music] It's super simple, very similar
to a lot of like the button-downs that I
had pinned on my board. I'm thinking
it'd be cool to wear this unbuttoned a
little bit and put like a lace bralette
under for some detail. This is
definitely making the whole outfit a
little bit sexier, but I kind of like
it. You guys know I just I love a good
lace bralette, especially recently, as
you guys know. Since I'm wearing the
black, I want to sort of bring out the
black a little bit more with some pants.
>> [music]
>> These low-rise pants from Reformation
are perfect with this. I'm going to try
these black flats with this. I got these
from Quince a while ago. Okay, I know
I'm going to get roasted in the
comments. People hate when I don't wear
color.
And I don't blame them. I've been really
trying. I love a good simple outfit. I
have this little clutch. It's actually
supposed to be a makeup bag, but I kind
of like it as my little clutch purse
going out.
>> [music]
>> I don't know how I almost forgot to show
you guys this jacket that I picked up.
This was the last thing that I saw as I
was leaving the thrift store. Obviously,
you know I really wanted a nice fall
jacket and this I thought was perfect.
It's actually a men's jacket, which
sometimes they look better on. It's the
perfect color that I was looking for,
sort of this like cream beige. It has
this sort of [music] snakeskin crocodile
print to it. I think it'll go with so
much stuff, like even with what I'm
wearing right now, it's perfect.
>> [music]
>> My favorite thing that I got is
something that I didn't even really plan
to get or it wasn't on my Pinterest
board. I know it kind of defeats Does it
defeat the purpose of the video? I don't
know. I loved the color. You can kind of
see it has like a little bit of
stitching right here and it has some
more color. It's more fun. Trying to
spice things up, add a little bit more
color to my wardrobe even though there's
literally five singular red flowers on
it. No idea how I'm going to style this.
So, let's do that right now. I don't
think even if I tried I could put into
words how much I love this top. It's
just so cool. It was also $35 which I
was pretty happy about considering it's
a from a vintage store. I decided to put
some really casual jeans on. These are
my go-to pair. I wear these like every
day. They're from Abercrombie. I liked
this little brown vintage Coach bag with
it and then I think I'm going to try it
with these little brown heeled
flip-flops.
Somehow I almost forgot that I also got
this jean skirt. This
I don't regret it. Regret's a strong
word, but it was pretty expensive, okay?
I think it was like $59.
So, this is like not a thrifted skirt,
but it is a really good just simple
classic staple piece that I honestly
probably I'm going to wear really often.
I do almost like it with this top. This
could even be an outfit in itself. Um I
think I lied to you guys. I think this
top might actually be my favorite. This
is just like the most flattering
silhouette of a top. I love the neckline
on this. I love the little floral
pattern. It just gives a little bit of
character and I've been trying to find
more tops that are nice for going out
that aren't just like plain. It was 50
bucks. So, I'm not going to say it was a
steal. I just paired this with some
black slacks again, the same ones as
earlier, and then some little black
heeled booties. And then to finish it
off, the only bag that I got thrifting
was this one. This was $16. I just
really liked it. I was immediately drawn
to this when I saw it on the rack and I
just realized that this goes really well
with this top because you can see there
is some of this exact shade of green in
the top. I would say this is my ideal
going out outfit.
Okay, guys, that is everything that I
got. I think this was a massive success.
I feel like I really stuck to my boards.
I got a lot of good staple pieces that I
think I'll make a ton of use out of. Let
me know if you guys like these videos. I
love making them. Love you guys. Thanks
for watching and I'll see you in my next
video. Bye.
