all right y'all welcome back to Rome 00:01
reviews I'm Rome and this is xiaomi 15 00:02
Ultra and what we'll be doing today is 00:05
just going ahead and uh wiping it and 00:08
setting it up from nothing 00:10
so um this is going to be new to me so 00:15
I'm going to stumble a little bit but 00:17
we'll figure it out together and I'll 00:19
try to clean it up as much as I can and 00:20
edit so let's jump into it we're going 00:22
to go in oh and I just want to show you 00:25
that I have set the device up um I got 00:27
Google play store installed and all the 00:30
Google apps and everything so I am 00:32
actually undoing all of the work that 00:35
I've done so far but that's fine CU it 00:38
this will be a good learning experience 00:41
so let's get into it so I'm going to go 00:43
in and I'm going to hit factory reset 00:46
erase all data and I'm going to put my 00:50
pen in one 00:52
second all right I'm going to do factory 00:54
reset and I'm going to put my pen in 00:56
again all right reset will reset all the 00:58
data on your device including photos 01:01
songs notes blah blah blah blah blah and 01:03
it won't let me hit next until a few 01:05
seconds okay make sure our important 01:08
items are backed up okay and we're 01:11
wiping all right so the phone has been 01:15
wiped and we're back at the screen is 01:17
loading and we're going to go through 01:20
this initial setup so what I'm going to 01:22
do is uh since this is the Chinese 01:24
version of the shiai 15 Ultra and I have 01:27
the Chinese version of the Vivo X200 Pro 01:29
here I'm going to try to transfer my 01:33
files because when I was trying to 01:35
transfer things D during the actual 01:37
setup um I was having issues with the uh 01:40
Vivo X200 um Chinese 01:44
version and transferring files from the 01:47
X20 the Vivo x uh x43 Pro uh Global 01:50
version it just wouldn't work um I once 01:55
I got into the OS I could download a 01:58
file manager and transfer all the files 02:00
but anyway I just want to do like doing 02:03
an initial setup because the initial 02:04
setup pulls everything so we're going to 02:06
try that now so let's do English 02:09
immediately all right connect the 02:13
network I have a SIM card you know what 02:15
I'm going to do Wi-Fi because I'm going 02:18
to be transferring files so one moment 02:20
all right we got Wi-Fi 02:23
connected all right let's keep 02:26
going text size I'm I'm fine with the 02:28
smallest setting that's fine terms and 02:31
conditions probably should read that but 02:35
I'm not location emergency 02:37
location automatic system updates I 02:40
think I'm going to turn that off simply 02:43
because I know that um hyper OS the 02:45
changes vary so greatly and it impacts 02:49
the OS so heavily and sometimes I've 02:52
read a lot of stuff online about like 02:55
just people not really being happy with 02:57
the updates afterwards so so I would 02:59
like to verify that before I update so 03:00
let's okay let's keep going me browser I 03:03
don't care about the browser I don't use 03:07
I'm not going to use the native browser 03:09
on here I don't know what dooen 03:11
is content Center the app provis Ranger 03:13
information nah I'm okay me home welcome 03:17
to sh me home you can use this app to 03:20
add control I don't know me video search 03:22
super me 03:25
AI I don't think the AI is going to work 03:26
but I'll leave it on just for later 03:29
purposes use as a new device import from 03:31
old device so here's what I was talking 03:33
about so let's move the xiaomi box out 03:36
of the 03:40
way and I'm going to put the Vivo X200 03:41
next to 03:44
it all 03:47
right and we're going to import from old 03:50
device and let's see let's see how this 03:53
works so I'm not going to read any of 03:56
this 03:58
I'm going to do 04:00
Android allow me mover to access photos 04:02
yeah why not allow all the time okay I'm 04:06
going to scan that Q QR 04:09
code all right so it basically made me 04:12
install the Mi mover app on the uh Vivo 04:15
X200 we going to 04:18
agree this is going to be the old 04:20
device remove 04:24
restrictions fingerprint 04:26
uh I don't know why I would need 04:31
whatever whatever only this 04:33
time allow 04:37
allow 04:39
allow allow full access cuz it's going 04:42
to be moving everything over so 04:44
allow goodness these phones are really 04:51
strict on what they allow so you have to 04:53
go in and allow everything manually but 04:56
we're going to keep moving 04:58
all 05:02
right my great 05:03
data whatever 05:07
allow so we're going to do 05:10
next searching for new 05:12
device there we go xiaomi 15 Ultra 05:19
connect switching to highspeed transfer 05:25
Channel interesting 05:28
all right so we'll see how long this 05:31
takes I'm going to transfer everything 05:33
like 05:35
everything so we'll see how it works out 05:37
especially since Google services has not 05:40
been set up on this new uh phone yet so 05:42
it should be 05:45
interesting uh oh connection interrupted 05:46
I don't know why connect 05:49
again open migr data why this this 05:53
device is so much cooler than this one 05:58
like color-wise so much cool okay 06:00
anyway 06:05
connect hopefully this won't be a 06:06
problem but I just want you guys to see 06:09
this stuff live so let me move all this 06:10
out of the 06:12
way all right move this in Center 06:14
next important reading confirm do not 06:20
turn off Wi-Fi okay your device must 06:23
might get hot okay that's fine 06:26
all right so it's transferring so what 06:29
I'll do is I want to turn the brightness 06:32
up on 06:34
my uh 06:35
see it keeps losing connection for some 06:37
reason oh you know 06:40
what are they on the same Wi-Fi I'm 06:42
curious about that anyway it says 52 06:46
minutes so what we'll do is we'll be 06:48
right back once once we make a little 06:50
progress okay all right so I know that 06:52
initially said 50 minutes but it's 06:55
jumped up uh significantly in roughly 06:58
about five minutes or so so this is 07:01
going to be fairly quick so just wanted 07:03
to give you guys an update we're still 07:06
making progress uh everything is still 07:07
working it was disconnecting uh a couple 07:09
times because the phones are dis there 07:12
dis they are connecting directly to each 07:14
other so that's what's going on but it 07:17
seems to have stabilized and it's still 07:20
progressing I haven't seen that pop up 07:22
anymore so we'll be back in a minute all 07:24
right all right so I got a message on 07:28
the Vivo X200 that the file transfer had 07:30
completed but I still see it working on 07:34
the shiai 15 Ultra so uh I'm just going 07:37
to let it finish doing its thing and 07:40
then I think it's just because it's 07:42
downloading the actual apps uh that it 07:44
needs to apply that data that it moved 07:46
over to so yeah we're just going to let 07:49
it keep working and I'll be back in just 07:51
a bit all right so it looks like the 07:53
xiaomi just finished up so we're going 07:57
to keep moving all right let's see what 08:00
we got I'm going to move the X200 out of 08:02
the way oh did it got a little warm but 08:04
not bad at all let's see this one did 08:06
get a little warm as well quite a bit 08:09
okay not too bad so let's go ahead I'm 08:12
going to move it down Center that a 08:16
little bit Zoom you guys in some see if 08:17
we can focus that up make sure we're 08:20
nice and clear all right let's keep 08:22
moving sign in I think I'm going to skip 08:25
this I don't have a sh me account so I 08:28
skip that for 08:31
now I skipped the fingerprint lock and 08:33
all that for 08:35
now uh I'll continue record your 08:37
greeting H interesting I'mma skip it for 08:40
now mobile network operator I've read 08:43
and agreed which I 08:45
haven't learn navigation I'm going to do 08:49
full screen gestures from the very 08:51
beginning because I don't use the 08:53
buttons anymore um I said it in the 08:55
comments but I like as much screen real 08:57
estate as I possibly could have which is 09:00
what initially triggered me to go to 09:02
full screen gestures so that's where 09:03
we're going to keep 09:06
going setup is complete let's see what 09:07
we're working with so this is my first 09:10
time actually seeing uh how xiaomi looks 09:14
from the very beginning because I 09:17
ordered this phone from Geek wheels and 09:18
they went in and powered it on and set 09:20
up the Play Store and everything like 09:22
that so I didn't get to see all of the 09:23
bloatware that came that comes on the 09:27
device now what you will see is a lot of 09:29
these apps are actually my apps 09:31
so interesting so I got to go and clean 09:35
all of this up um I don't like all of my 09:38
apps being on my home screen because I 09:41
just like to organize it a certain way 09:42
but I do see some 09:44
uh some of that blo way in here so I see 09:47
that Chinese app right 09:50
there Chinese app right there okay so 09:52
what we're going to do is I'll clean all 09:55
this up later but what I want to do 09:58
right away is go ahead and jump into 09:59
settings 10:03
and we're going to figure out how to get 10:04
the Play Store set up so let's let's do 10:08
Google let's just search Google oh what 10:11
is it doing it wasn't typing in 10:15
there so here we are we got a hiccup 10:18
already so let's see what's going on so 10:21
let's come out let's go back 10:24
in yeah it's not typing anything in 10:26
there that's weird 10:28
oh it was typing but it just wasn't 10:32
populating weird Okay so basic Google 10:35
services additional settings accounts 10:38
and sync basic Google services it's 10:39
enabled 10:42
okay so let's do Play 10:44
Store and let's see cuz I'm just 10:49
stumbling through just trying to figure 10:51
this out with you 10:53
guys I think the phone is still doing 10:56
some work in the back ground which is 10:58
why it's acting kind of odd okay that's 10:59
fine so I'm going to go to hm let's 11:02
figure it out let's go to uh get 11:06
apps 11:09
Google let's see let's see what comes up 11:14
when you type in 11:17
Google Google Play Store right there all 11:19
right so this is pretty simple on this 11:22
phone actually you don't have to do uh 11:24
deal with micro G or anything like that 11:26
I think you have to deal with micro a 11:28
lot with the Huawei devices because 11:29
Huawei is banned in the US 11:31
but let's go ahead and it says update 11:35
not install which is 11:39
interesting okay let me figure this out 11:41
and we'll be right 11:43
back all right we're back so the app 11:44
right here Google Play Store open and 11:48
what I'm going to do is sign in and we 11:50
have lift off people so we're good to go 11:52
so what I'm going to do is I'm going to 11:55
go through set up my credential IAL 11:57
anything I feel like that stands out 12:00
that you may need to do afterwards we'll 12:01
I I'll start back up and we'll add that 12:04
in okay all right I'll be right back all 12:06
right so I was able to open the Google 12:09
Play Store and get logged in with my 12:11
credentials and everything 12:14
so what I want to test out is let's see 12:16
I'm just going to find like a Google app 12:21
let's see if it downloaded 12:23
messages that's my you know what hold on 12:26
let me take about this um yeah messages 12:28
is right there says my default 12:31
app yep there we go so it pulled all my 12:36
messages over which is great so let's 12:40
see what else we want to check out uh 12:44
how 12:47
about YouTube music that's another 12:48
Google app let's see if it logs it logs 12:51
Us in automatically so once you install 12:53
the Play Store and log in with your 12:55
credentials it'll automatically pull 12:56
that information over to the other apps 12:58
now I have seen cases not on this phone 13:00
but on other devices where it will 13:03
prompt you afterwards to verify yourself 13:05
on in certain apps so just be ready for 13:09
that but otherwise I think we are good 13:11
to go so what I'm going to do is go 13:14
through clean up all this bloat wear and 13:15
then we'll come back for either the 13:17
close to final result or the final 13:20
result we'll see how I feel is I'm 13:21
working through all right be back in a 13:23
moment oh you know what I wanted to 13:25
touch bases on uh as I was getting 13:27
started it made me remember that xiaomi 13:30
has a 13:33
very iPhone like approach to their 13:34
devices and their software so as you can 13:37
see all of my apps are on the home 13:41
screen so what we need to do is go in 13:42
and set up the app drawer so we can get 13:45
all this stuff off off of our home 13:47
screen so go to settings and you're 13:49
going to go to home 13:53
screen and I think yeah here we go so 13:55
home screen with app drawer that's what 13:59
you want to turn on and another thing 14:01
you want to turn on I'm not going to do 14:03
it right now I'm actually going to show 14:05
you because like I said very Apple like 14:06
approach so we going to leave the screen 14:08
up but we're just going to swipe up and 14:10
what you'll notice is okay let's just 14:12
get rid of the 14:14
calendar I'm going to get rid of it and 14:16
you'll see it shifts all the apps around 14:18
I do not like that at all I do not want 14:21
it shifting apps around uh because once 14:24
I organize my apps the way that I want 14:27
them I want them to stay put so what you 14:28
want to do is let's go back into that 14:31
and you see Place us see not Place new 14:33
apps on definitely want to turn that off 14:36
but uh let's 14:38
see I had to stumble around to find this 14:40
the first time so give me one 14:43
moment okay here we go so back on the 14:46
home 14:48
screen um so if we go 14:49
in and we go back to home 14:53
screen you'll see fi sales of UN 14:55
installed apps you want to turn that off 14:59
I mean if you don't want your apps 15:01
moving around you want to turn that off 15:03
okay so now when you delete an app let's 15:06
go ahead and remove Gallery CU I'm not 15:09
going to use the default gallery app you 15:10
see nothing 15:12
moved that that was very important to me 15:14
that saved that protected my sanity when 15:16
I found it that when I found it found 15:18
that so yeah um what was the other thing 15:21
I wanted to touch on oh home screen 15:25
search bar I'm not going to use the 15:27
default search bar on this phone so I 15:29
turned that off and it that gives you 15:32
back a little a little bit more uh 15:34
screen real estate so I turn it off 15:36
remove and you'll see it's gone and you 15:39
see your apps shifted down a little bit 15:41
okay so going back into settings let's 15:44
go to home 15:47
screen let's see app Vault I don't know 15:49
what that is I'll learn like I said I 15:53
will be learning this phone this my 15:55
first xiaomi device so let's 15:56
see home screen layout ah there we go 16:00
4x6 4x7 and 5 by9 now I uh there was a 16:04
suggestion in here where you have to get 16:09
rid of that home screen search bar in 16:10
order for these options to pop up I'm 16:12
going to go as many apps as I can on the 16:14
screen cuz I like a lot of you know a 16:17
lot a lot of room to work with so we're 16:19
going to do that and I think that's it 16:21
for 16:26
now um I'll be back after I finish 16:26
setting up the device and cleaning up 16:29
some things and we'll talk all right I 16:31
had to jump back in cuz xiaomi has this 16:33
very satisfying thing that it does so if 16:35
you pinch on the screen you can select 16:38
multiple apps at one time so let's 16:40
see and when you hit the the remove 16:45
button look I I know it's not that big 16:52
of a deal but I am easily play 16:55
so let's do it one more 16:59
time ah I don't know why I like that so 17:03
much but anyway just want to show you 17:06
guys that I'll be 17:07
back all right so on the xiaomi device 17:10
if you're not a fan of the default 17:13
keyboard that comes on here what you can 17:15
do is install gboard which I've already 17:17
done is pulled it all over from the 17:20
X200 go in here enable and you're going 17:22
to go to current 17:25
keyboard no no no manage keyboards yeah 17:27
and you have to turn gboard 17:30
on 17:32
yeah and then go to man Uh current 17:35
keyboard and switch you'll see they put 17:38
it real small down here other keyboards 17:40
you'll 17:44
CH maybe I tapped it okay gboard okay 17:45
and now that'll be your default keyboard 17:51
so let me show you g board down here now 17:53
we're in business all all right 17:57
so all right so I've made a bit of 17:59
progress on here 18:02
so I got all my apps pretty much set up 18:04
where I want to be I still got a few 18:08
more to do but I just wanted to touch 18:09
bases so got my always on display set up 18:11
let's go to the lock screen nice and 18:15
let's go into the 18:18
phone lovely all right so I haven't set 18:20
up my fingerprint and my face unlock yet 18:22
but you know this just regular stuff 18:25
that you do on the phone so uh if that's 18:26
something you want to see just let me 18:30
know in the comments below but um here 18:31
we are got my phone a little organized 18:33
now I haven't logged into all of my apps 18:36
yet but I do have a couple of widgets 18:38
set up um the only thing that I wish I 18:39
had done before I changed the phone to 18:42
the app drawer was completely uninstall 18:44
all of the bloatware because now I have 18:48
to go into the app drawer every single 18:51
time and I'll show you what I mean so 18:53
let's see that let's get rid of that 18:55
uninstall that 18:57
and I just have to stay here and do that 18:59
one by one where I feel like if it were 19:00
if it was actually like the Apple or the 19:03
iPhone uh the way I had it previously 19:05
you can go in and uninstall multiple 19:07
apps I believe um or I could just be 19:09
talking so I could be absolutely wrong 19:12
but this is not so bad but I really 19:15
would prefer to have done this before I 19:18
turned on my app drawer but at least it 19:21
doesn't kick you out of your app drawer 19:23
after each removal of of an app so not 19:26
too 19:30
bad but there's quite a lot of bloat 19:31
Weare on these phones on the Chinese 19:34
versions of these phones so just be 19:36
aware that you will have a little work 19:38
to do um after setting this device up so 19:41
I'll spend some time doing that 19:44
afterwards but as far as my home screen 19:47
goes it's pretty much set up I still 19:48
have a few more apps I need to put on my 19:50
home uh on my third 19:52
screen but otherwise it's all good um I 19:54
hope this helped you guys uh with 19:58
setting up your xiaomi phone if you 20:00
decide to order one um and I can't think 20:02
of anything else I really want to touch 20:05
bases on the only thing I find weird 20:07
about this phone well one of the things 20:09
I find weird about this phone 20:10
is it if you noticed at the beginning of 20:12
the video it had a settings icon on a 20:16
Settings app on the home 20:18
screen um and then um when I went in 20:20
here I had to actually uh add this 20:24
shortcut up here so I can quickly get to 20:26
set since I removed the app on my home 20:28
screen so that's another little weird 20:30
thing about this phone I can't find a 20:33
quick way and I know there's probably 20:35
like a button combination or shortcut or 20:37
that I double tap the power button if I 20:41
hold the power button what happens it 20:43
opens me uh AI okay uh let's press power 20:45
and volume up that's how to turn the 20:50
phone off okay and I'm sure that uh 20:52
Power and volume down is going to be 20:55
screenshot 20:57
all right 20:58
so I'm not entirely sure how to get to 21:00
settings on this phone um that just 21:04
brings you to your notifications and 21:06
status 21:08
bar so I'm not entirely sure uh if 21:09
anybody knows uh feel free to drop a 21:12
comment down below uh to help me out 21:14
like I said I'm very new to xiaomi so 21:17
I'm still learning but I did find a way 21:20
I found a workaround so it's not that 21:22
big of a deal but I just wish they had 21:24
it to where you could just drop it down 21:26
and on settings like up here somewhere 21:28
but not a deal breaker by any means but 21:31
anyway really appreciate you guys tuning 21:34
in for this video and how to set up the 21:36
xiaomi 15 Ultra feel free to like And 21:38

Lyrics & Translation

[English]
all right y'all welcome back to Rome
reviews I'm Rome and this is xiaomi 15
Ultra and what we'll be doing today is
just going ahead and uh wiping it and
setting it up from nothing
so um this is going to be new to me so
I'm going to stumble a little bit but
we'll figure it out together and I'll
try to clean it up as much as I can and
edit so let's jump into it we're going
to go in oh and I just want to show you
that I have set the device up um I got
Google play store installed and all the
Google apps and everything so I am
actually undoing all of the work that
I've done so far but that's fine CU it
this will be a good learning experience
so let's get into it so I'm going to go
in and I'm going to hit factory reset
erase all data and I'm going to put my
pen in one
second all right I'm going to do factory
reset and I'm going to put my pen in
again all right reset will reset all the
data on your device including photos
songs notes blah blah blah blah blah and
it won't let me hit next until a few
seconds okay make sure our important
items are backed up okay and we're
wiping all right so the phone has been
wiped and we're back at the screen is
loading and we're going to go through
this initial setup so what I'm going to
do is uh since this is the Chinese
version of the shiai 15 Ultra and I have
the Chinese version of the Vivo X200 Pro
here I'm going to try to transfer my
files because when I was trying to
transfer things D during the actual
setup um I was having issues with the uh
Vivo X200 um Chinese
version and transferring files from the
X20 the Vivo x uh x43 Pro uh Global
version it just wouldn't work um I once
I got into the OS I could download a
file manager and transfer all the files
but anyway I just want to do like doing
an initial setup because the initial
setup pulls everything so we're going to
try that now so let's do English
immediately all right connect the
network I have a SIM card you know what
I'm going to do Wi-Fi because I'm going
to be transferring files so one moment
all right we got Wi-Fi
connected all right let's keep
going text size I'm I'm fine with the
smallest setting that's fine terms and
conditions probably should read that but
I'm not location emergency
location automatic system updates I
think I'm going to turn that off simply
because I know that um hyper OS the
changes vary so greatly and it impacts
the OS so heavily and sometimes I've
read a lot of stuff online about like
just people not really being happy with
the updates afterwards so so I would
like to verify that before I update so
let's okay let's keep going me browser I
don't care about the browser I don't use
I'm not going to use the native browser
on here I don't know what dooen
is content Center the app provis Ranger
information nah I'm okay me home welcome
to sh me home you can use this app to
add control I don't know me video search
super me
AI I don't think the AI is going to work
but I'll leave it on just for later
purposes use as a new device import from
old device so here's what I was talking
about so let's move the xiaomi box out
of the
way and I'm going to put the Vivo X200
next to
it all
right and we're going to import from old
device and let's see let's see how this
works so I'm not going to read any of
this
I'm going to do
Android allow me mover to access photos
yeah why not allow all the time okay I'm
going to scan that Q QR
code all right so it basically made me
install the Mi mover app on the uh Vivo
X200 we going to
agree this is going to be the old
device remove
restrictions fingerprint
uh I don't know why I would need
whatever whatever only this
time allow
allow
allow allow full access cuz it's going
to be moving everything over so
allow goodness these phones are really
strict on what they allow so you have to
go in and allow everything manually but
we're going to keep moving
all
right my great
data whatever
allow so we're going to do
next searching for new
device there we go xiaomi 15 Ultra
connect switching to highspeed transfer
Channel interesting
all right so we'll see how long this
takes I'm going to transfer everything
like
everything so we'll see how it works out
especially since Google services has not
been set up on this new uh phone yet so
it should be
interesting uh oh connection interrupted
I don't know why connect
again open migr data why this this
device is so much cooler than this one
like color-wise so much cool okay
anyway
connect hopefully this won't be a
problem but I just want you guys to see
this stuff live so let me move all this
out of the
way all right move this in Center
next important reading confirm do not
turn off Wi-Fi okay your device must
might get hot okay that's fine
all right so it's transferring so what
I'll do is I want to turn the brightness
up on
my uh
see it keeps losing connection for some
reason oh you know
what are they on the same Wi-Fi I'm
curious about that anyway it says 52
minutes so what we'll do is we'll be
right back once once we make a little
progress okay all right so I know that
initially said 50 minutes but it's
jumped up uh significantly in roughly
about five minutes or so so this is
going to be fairly quick so just wanted
to give you guys an update we're still
making progress uh everything is still
working it was disconnecting uh a couple
times because the phones are dis there
dis they are connecting directly to each
other so that's what's going on but it
seems to have stabilized and it's still
progressing I haven't seen that pop up
anymore so we'll be back in a minute all
right all right so I got a message on
the Vivo X200 that the file transfer had
completed but I still see it working on
the shiai 15 Ultra so uh I'm just going
to let it finish doing its thing and
then I think it's just because it's
downloading the actual apps uh that it
needs to apply that data that it moved
over to so yeah we're just going to let
it keep working and I'll be back in just
a bit all right so it looks like the
xiaomi just finished up so we're going
to keep moving all right let's see what
we got I'm going to move the X200 out of
the way oh did it got a little warm but
not bad at all let's see this one did
get a little warm as well quite a bit
okay not too bad so let's go ahead I'm
going to move it down Center that a
little bit Zoom you guys in some see if
we can focus that up make sure we're
nice and clear all right let's keep
moving sign in I think I'm going to skip
this I don't have a sh me account so I
skip that for
now I skipped the fingerprint lock and
all that for
now uh I'll continue record your
greeting H interesting I'mma skip it for
now mobile network operator I've read
and agreed which I
haven't learn navigation I'm going to do
full screen gestures from the very
beginning because I don't use the
buttons anymore um I said it in the
comments but I like as much screen real
estate as I possibly could have which is
what initially triggered me to go to
full screen gestures so that's where
we're going to keep
going setup is complete let's see what
we're working with so this is my first
time actually seeing uh how xiaomi looks
from the very beginning because I
ordered this phone from Geek wheels and
they went in and powered it on and set
up the Play Store and everything like
that so I didn't get to see all of the
bloatware that came that comes on the
device now what you will see is a lot of
these apps are actually my apps
so interesting so I got to go and clean
all of this up um I don't like all of my
apps being on my home screen because I
just like to organize it a certain way
but I do see some
uh some of that blo way in here so I see
that Chinese app right
there Chinese app right there okay so
what we're going to do is I'll clean all
this up later but what I want to do
right away is go ahead and jump into
settings
and we're going to figure out how to get
the Play Store set up so let's let's do
Google let's just search Google oh what
is it doing it wasn't typing in
there so here we are we got a hiccup
already so let's see what's going on so
let's come out let's go back
in yeah it's not typing anything in
there that's weird
oh it was typing but it just wasn't
populating weird Okay so basic Google
services additional settings accounts
and sync basic Google services it's
enabled
okay so let's do Play
Store and let's see cuz I'm just
stumbling through just trying to figure
this out with you
guys I think the phone is still doing
some work in the back ground which is
why it's acting kind of odd okay that's
fine so I'm going to go to hm let's
figure it out let's go to uh get
apps
Google let's see let's see what comes up
when you type in
Google Google Play Store right there all
right so this is pretty simple on this
phone actually you don't have to do uh
deal with micro G or anything like that
I think you have to deal with micro a
lot with the Huawei devices because
Huawei is banned in the US
but let's go ahead and it says update
not install which is
interesting okay let me figure this out
and we'll be right
back all right we're back so the app
right here Google Play Store open and
what I'm going to do is sign in and we
have lift off people so we're good to go
so what I'm going to do is I'm going to
go through set up my credential IAL
anything I feel like that stands out
that you may need to do afterwards we'll
I I'll start back up and we'll add that
in okay all right I'll be right back all
right so I was able to open the Google
Play Store and get logged in with my
credentials and everything
so what I want to test out is let's see
I'm just going to find like a Google app
let's see if it downloaded
messages that's my you know what hold on
let me take about this um yeah messages
is right there says my default
app yep there we go so it pulled all my
messages over which is great so let's
see what else we want to check out uh
how
about YouTube music that's another
Google app let's see if it logs it logs
Us in automatically so once you install
the Play Store and log in with your
credentials it'll automatically pull
that information over to the other apps
now I have seen cases not on this phone
but on other devices where it will
prompt you afterwards to verify yourself
on in certain apps so just be ready for
that but otherwise I think we are good
to go so what I'm going to do is go
through clean up all this bloat wear and
then we'll come back for either the
close to final result or the final
result we'll see how I feel is I'm
working through all right be back in a
moment oh you know what I wanted to
touch bases on uh as I was getting
started it made me remember that xiaomi
has a
very iPhone like approach to their
devices and their software so as you can
see all of my apps are on the home
screen so what we need to do is go in
and set up the app drawer so we can get
all this stuff off off of our home
screen so go to settings and you're
going to go to home
screen and I think yeah here we go so
home screen with app drawer that's what
you want to turn on and another thing
you want to turn on I'm not going to do
it right now I'm actually going to show
you because like I said very Apple like
approach so we going to leave the screen
up but we're just going to swipe up and
what you'll notice is okay let's just
get rid of the
calendar I'm going to get rid of it and
you'll see it shifts all the apps around
I do not like that at all I do not want
it shifting apps around uh because once
I organize my apps the way that I want
them I want them to stay put so what you
want to do is let's go back into that
and you see Place us see not Place new
apps on definitely want to turn that off
but uh let's
see I had to stumble around to find this
the first time so give me one
moment okay here we go so back on the
home
screen um so if we go
in and we go back to home
screen you'll see fi sales of UN
installed apps you want to turn that off
I mean if you don't want your apps
moving around you want to turn that off
okay so now when you delete an app let's
go ahead and remove Gallery CU I'm not
going to use the default gallery app you
see nothing
moved that that was very important to me
that saved that protected my sanity when
I found it that when I found it found
that so yeah um what was the other thing
I wanted to touch on oh home screen
search bar I'm not going to use the
default search bar on this phone so I
turned that off and it that gives you
back a little a little bit more uh
screen real estate so I turn it off
remove and you'll see it's gone and you
see your apps shifted down a little bit
okay so going back into settings let's
go to home
screen let's see app Vault I don't know
what that is I'll learn like I said I
will be learning this phone this my
first xiaomi device so let's
see home screen layout ah there we go
4x6 4x7 and 5 by9 now I uh there was a
suggestion in here where you have to get
rid of that home screen search bar in
order for these options to pop up I'm
going to go as many apps as I can on the
screen cuz I like a lot of you know a
lot a lot of room to work with so we're
going to do that and I think that's it
for
now um I'll be back after I finish
setting up the device and cleaning up
some things and we'll talk all right I
had to jump back in cuz xiaomi has this
very satisfying thing that it does so if
you pinch on the screen you can select
multiple apps at one time so let's
see and when you hit the the remove
button look I I know it's not that big
of a deal but I am easily play
so let's do it one more
time ah I don't know why I like that so
much but anyway just want to show you
guys that I'll be
back all right so on the xiaomi device
if you're not a fan of the default
keyboard that comes on here what you can
do is install gboard which I've already
done is pulled it all over from the
X200 go in here enable and you're going
to go to current
keyboard no no no manage keyboards yeah
and you have to turn gboard
on
yeah and then go to man Uh current
keyboard and switch you'll see they put
it real small down here other keyboards
you'll
CH maybe I tapped it okay gboard okay
and now that'll be your default keyboard
so let me show you g board down here now
we're in business all all right
so all right so I've made a bit of
progress on here
so I got all my apps pretty much set up
where I want to be I still got a few
more to do but I just wanted to touch
bases so got my always on display set up
let's go to the lock screen nice and
let's go into the
phone lovely all right so I haven't set
up my fingerprint and my face unlock yet
but you know this just regular stuff
that you do on the phone so uh if that's
something you want to see just let me
know in the comments below but um here
we are got my phone a little organized
now I haven't logged into all of my apps
yet but I do have a couple of widgets
set up um the only thing that I wish I
had done before I changed the phone to
the app drawer was completely uninstall
all of the bloatware because now I have
to go into the app drawer every single
time and I'll show you what I mean so
let's see that let's get rid of that
uninstall that
and I just have to stay here and do that
one by one where I feel like if it were
if it was actually like the Apple or the
iPhone uh the way I had it previously
you can go in and uninstall multiple
apps I believe um or I could just be
talking so I could be absolutely wrong
but this is not so bad but I really
would prefer to have done this before I
turned on my app drawer but at least it
doesn't kick you out of your app drawer
after each removal of of an app so not
too
bad but there's quite a lot of bloat
Weare on these phones on the Chinese
versions of these phones so just be
aware that you will have a little work
to do um after setting this device up so
I'll spend some time doing that
afterwards but as far as my home screen
goes it's pretty much set up I still
have a few more apps I need to put on my
home uh on my third
screen but otherwise it's all good um I
hope this helped you guys uh with
setting up your xiaomi phone if you
decide to order one um and I can't think
of anything else I really want to touch
bases on the only thing I find weird
about this phone well one of the things
I find weird about this phone
is it if you noticed at the beginning of
the video it had a settings icon on a
Settings app on the home
screen um and then um when I went in
here I had to actually uh add this
shortcut up here so I can quickly get to
set since I removed the app on my home
screen so that's another little weird
thing about this phone I can't find a
quick way and I know there's probably
like a button combination or shortcut or
that I double tap the power button if I
hold the power button what happens it
opens me uh AI okay uh let's press power
and volume up that's how to turn the
phone off okay and I'm sure that uh
Power and volume down is going to be
screenshot
all right
so I'm not entirely sure how to get to
settings on this phone um that just
brings you to your notifications and
status
bar so I'm not entirely sure uh if
anybody knows uh feel free to drop a
comment down below uh to help me out
like I said I'm very new to xiaomi so
I'm still learning but I did find a way
I found a workaround so it's not that
big of a deal but I just wish they had
it to where you could just drop it down
and on settings like up here somewhere
but not a deal breaker by any means but
anyway really appreciate you guys tuning
in for this video and how to set up the
xiaomi 15 Ultra feel free to like And
subscribe to and you know just to see
future content like this all right I
will catch you guys in another one later
