get up here. And as we were passing each 01:13

walking all of this. But the subway was 01:16
pretty productive. I came up with a 01:19
loose plan kind of. Let's walk and talk. 01:21
We're burning daylight. So, the plan, I 01:23
decided I want to start this journey by 01:26
just covering some serious ground 01:28
because the length of Manhattan is 13.4 01:30
mi. However, I'm not going to do it in 01:33
13.4 miles because the spots that I kind 01:36
of want to hit, you know, we're going to 01:38
do a decent amount of this and it's 01:40
actually going to be closer to 16 miles. 01:42

reminds me a lot of Prospect Park in 04:02
Brooklyn where I have spent a lot of 04:04
time. One of my favorites in the city. 04:06

hills this far north of Manhattan, you 04:11
see, versus lower Manhattan where I 04:13
live. It's pretty flat, but uh we're 04:15

Washington Bridge, which is cool. We're 04:28

streets I walked on daily. They all 22:27
represent some chapter of my life where 22:29
I had some of my biggest wins, my 22:31
biggest fails. I learned who I was and 22:33
who I wasn't. It doesn't usually hit me 22:35
quite as acutely as it did on this walk. 22:37
Just how much this city has shaped me. 22:40
Step by step, block by block, it felt 22:42
like I was stitching all those versions 22:44
of myself together. It reminded me of 22:46
how far I've come and how much further 22:48
there still is to go. And these 22:49
buildings are just pretty insane as 22:52

who did the vessel from Hudson Yards and 22:56
Little Island, which I was going to take 22:58

Hello. Good morning. This is Taylor.
Today I woke up and I decided I want to
walk the entire length of Manhattan, New
York City because why the heck not? I
got two working legs, comfy shoes, and a
concerning amount of confidence. So,
let's do it together and go see some
really, really iconic parts of New York
City along the way, shall we?

We made it. So, we are at the tippity
tippity top of Manhattan. That's Inwood
Hill Park right over there. It took me
like an an hour on the express train to
get up here. And as we were passing each
stop, I was like, I'm going to be
walking all of this. But the subway was
pretty productive. I came up with a
loose plan kind of. Let's walk and talk.
We're burning daylight. So, the plan, I
decided I want to start this journey by
just covering some serious ground
because the length of Manhattan is 13.4
mi. However, I'm not going to do it in
13.4 miles because the spots that I kind
of want to hit, you know, we're going to
do a decent amount of this and it's
actually going to be closer to 16 miles.
So,
16 miles. You wish you were only walking
16 miles today. Think again, loser. And
you know, 16 miles I'm kind of like,
well, that's a long way obviously, but
I'm just walking. No problem. No, I'm
already a pretty big walker. Like, I
walked 11,000 steps yesterday. Kind of a
lot. That's only 5 miles. Today, we're
doing 16. And we're doing like things
along the way, too. It's just not one
straight route. So, anyways, that's why
I decided, wow, this is beautiful.
That's why I decided I'm just going to
commit to doing 4 and 1/2, 5 miles
before we do anything crazy. cuz the
second I start popping into bodegas for
snacks, it's over. And I am very
prepared for my lower back and my feet
to be a bit sore by the end of the day.
But it's all good in the name of
adventure. Am I right?

Started walking the wrong direction for
like 15 minutes. God, I'm trying to be
aware of my surroundings. And I look up
and this street is now 218th, but I
could have sworn I started at 28th. We
need these numbers to get smaller, you
see. And they're getting bigger.
Whatever. I got a little warm up and
turning back. That's crazy. I'm very
rarely like that disoriented. Never in
New York. Almost never. You know what
that experience taught me? That I needed
a coffee. First impressions though, this
area is very interesting. So like to be
very clear, this is all brand new
territory for me. I've never been up
here before.
Couldn't have done this on a better day.
Wait, should we go to the spring floor?
That actually felt good. Couldn't have
done this on a more perfect day. It's
only a high of 79 today and it's still
in the '9s. Okay, so first impressions
of my first 2 miles almost. So cool. I
just really, really love exploring the
brand new places that I've never been
within my own city, especially. I've
pretty much only heard Spanish being
spoken. So, there's definitely we're
going to walk through a lot of different
diasporas today. And that's like such a
great part about New York. I'm excited
to see it all in one day.
We got the old and the new. Still,
walking along this really nice park. It
reminds me a lot of Prospect Park in
Brooklyn where I have spent a lot of
time. One of my favorites in the city.
Didn't realize we were in San Francisco.
I did hear the rumors that there were
hills this far north of Manhattan, you
see, versus lower Manhattan where I
live. It's pretty flat, but uh we're
walking up the we're walking up a hill
as you can see. Can you tell? I think
you can tell.
All right, just passed the George
Washington Bridge, which is cool. We're
making progress, but I realize how much
further I still have to go. Cuz if you
look on a map, that bridge is like, it
still looks like it's at the tippy top,
but you know, we're feeling good. We're
complaining a lot for no reason. This is
fun. I'm having a good time.

We're at mile 4 roughly. I went from
Broadway to Amsterdam for a change of
scenery cuz Broadway admittedly gets a
little cray cray. It's like super busy
and kind of have to navigate around
people and time is kind of the essence.
I worked backwards on my timing for this
trying to plan being at the very
southern tip right around sunset and
that's of course baking in that I'm
going to stop for food in the bathroom
and like filming and stuff but even
still I'm cutting it a little tight as I
do
when I want to see I'm just on my way
back home little drunk and alone but I
rack you even though it's Friday night

>> Yeah, perfect. Thanks. All right, we are
in Harlem. We're making our way, guys. I
was getting a little peckish. Makes
sense. Didn't eat very much this
morning, so I just bought a full bag of
cherries that I'm going to pick at. It
was $4. Pretty good if you ask me. We
are, let's see, what street are we on?
146th Street. And our first stop is
about 30 blocks away on 116th Street.
It'll take about 30 minutes. So, I'm
just going to eat a bunch of cherries.
We'll see how many I eat in 30 minutes.
And also talk soon. All right, first
bathroom break of the day. First of all,
LA wishes, but yeah, I got to pay. Well,
I don't carry cash. Also, look,
not a bathroom in quotations. That makes
me think it's a bathroom. You know,
that's basically like saying, "Oh, guys,
trust me, it's not a bathroom."
And then it was a closet. Um, they got
me. Good thing it's not an emergency,
but you know, keep an eye out. I'm sure
there's a bathroom in there or whatever
that big establishment is.
We made it to our first stop. This is
Columbia University. And for those who
don't recognize these iconic buildings,
I haven't been here since I toured
Columbia. When I was in high school, I
came to the East Coast and looked at a
bunch of the schools. I did always love
this campus, and it'd be really cool to
go to college in New York City, I
imagine. Anyways, all right. All right.

Howdy. So, I thought I would take a wee
bit of a breather and actually chitchat
with you guys for a sec cuz we've
actually made some serious ground. And
we're now in the part of Manhattan that
I'm familiar with. So, I I feel like,
you know, that's a win. We've done more
of this than I expected. So, anyways,
thought I would take this moment to go
over my goals with you guys for today's
challenge. Goal number one, I just want
to prove to myself that I can do
something totally pointless, but very
challenging. Not that I have any doubt
that I can do that. I know I can, but
I've just had an itch lately to do
something really hard. It's important to
do hard things. Might as well make a fun
adventure of it, right? Goal number two.
I want to get a little sweet treat at
some point today. I already got a sweet
treat with the cherries, but I have a
different one in mind around mile 12.
It's going to be awesome. Goal number
three. Even though this is obviously a
very active day, I also want to treat it
as an opportunity to slow down a little
bit and notice the details of this
amazing city that I call home. I also
want to walk a lot of these miles in
complete silence and just let my ideas
and thoughts come and go as they please.
So, that's goal number three. Just just
be in touch with my surroundings. Goal
number four, I want to find the single
most New York thing, New York moment
possible and capture it on camera.
Shouldn't be too hard, but honestly, a
lot of those moments happen in the
subway. And we're not taking the subway
today, so we'll see. And goal number
five, have fun. But actually, this is
supposed to be fun. I'm just It's not
that serious. Without further ado, let's
go get an iconic cup of coffee not too
far away. Also, I completely snuck onto
this campus. Not on purpose. Like, I
wasn't I mean, yes, I walked on on
purpose, but by the time I came in, I
realized you need a pass to be here. But
I'm not causing any trouble, but maybe
don't do what I did. all these like
academics and prospective students
walking past me filming myself putting
sunscreen on. It's okay. I paid my dues.
I went to college. Not this college.
So, I guess I didn't I didn't pay any
dues. All right, y'all. Just left a few
minutes ago, but we're already
approaching our next check-in point.

Diner, which is cool. I've never Well,
I'm sure I have seen it. I just didn't
realize that this is what it was. I'm
not going to eat here cuz I'm not quite
ready for a full meal. But let's get a
cup of coffee and charge the phone a

Fun fact about me, there are a few
things that I love more than diner
coffee. Unless it's burnt, but it's this
one's not burnt. All right, that was a
nice little pit stop. Two full cups of
diner coffee. Nice little refuel.
Arguably, I should probably get some
food in me soon. I have a spot in mind
and it's about another
30 blocks.
Also, how am I feeling at this point?
Thank you for asking. Good. You know, my
Strava is showing that I'm almost 8
miles in. I'm going to rack up the miles
today. Final guess, I would put mileage
by the end of the day, not including,
you know, waking up and getting to the
subway to get to the top. I just mean
for the adventure, I put that mileage at
about 18. Is that too high? Maybe. We'll
see. 17.8. Final answer.
I'm officially squarely in the upper
west side. I'm on the same like
latitude. Actually, a bit further down
now than the very very top of Central
Park. For those who have been to New
York, you know how big Central Park is.
So, we still got a ways to go. I'm not
even halfway done. I'm not even halfway
done here.

You know, I've been absolutely craving
some fish food. That's not going to be
my little sweet treat. The sweet treat
comes much later. Guys, I'm getting
teased left and right by other sweet
treats. I mean, believe me, this is some
of my favorite ice cream, but I'm
holding off. I'm getting real food soon
in about
17 blocks. Excited. It's an iconic spot.
And then a sweet treat much later. Got
to hold off.

territory. What I do love about the
Upper West Side is I think it really,
really combines the old and the new
quite well. All right, I'm not going to
lie, the two cups of coffee with not too
much food has made me a little shaky.
And nothing has weted my appetite more
than the smell of popcorn walking past
that AMC. We made it.
Iconic New York City grocery store,
deli,
and and and other things, too.

order a bagel with cream cheese and
locks. However, I did meet a new friend

These remind me of kind of a combination
of the Victorian style homes in San
Francisco and then ones that you'll see
in like Kensington and London. So
beautiful. I've actually not seen too
many of these in New York, this kind of
style, but I really, really like it.

in there, but this is the American
Museum of Natural History in Central
Park. Yeah. I just thought I'd walk by
it to show y'all, even though we
obviously do not have time to go in.
Matter of fact, I needed to hustle a
little bit if I'm being honest with you.
Um, but here, take a look at the Central
Park Towers. All right. They're still
kind of far away. Um, but we can see
them. I think I'm going a little a
little crazy cuz I'm seeing pigeons
everywhere and I'm just saying pon.
There were two of them playing and I
said do pon. I don't speak French. Wow,
that's epic. Oh, and uptown. That's
where we came from. Way up there. Wa.

because cuz I want to. I thought I would
show you guys what I packed for today. A
little what's in my bag section. I
wanted to do backpack even though it's
not cute. I'm a backpack girl. I like to
go handsree. Water of course, which I
refilled along the way. Have some right
now while I'm thinking about it. Hat.
The goal of course was to pack light.
So, I took what I normally carry in here
out and put in the only things I needed.
Okay, I left a few things in here. I
have chapstick. I brought my phone
charger, obviously, cuz I have and will
continue to need to charge that phone
over the course of the day. That's all
I'm filming on. I brought band-aids just
in case. Although, I don't even feel the
slightest bit of a blister coming on,
which is nice. I got the information
from that guy at Zars. Pepper spray just
in case. Besides that, these are just
things I've accumulated over the day.

The heaviest thing I'm carrying is my

Besides that, this is it, guys. That's
it. Anyway, quick morale check-in. I'm
feeling great. My legs like they're a
little tired, but they don't hurt, you
know? And my strava shows that I've
walked 12 miles. So, once again, a lot
of zigzags. And it's currently 5:13 p.m.
Sunset is around 8:00. Yeah, I don't
think we're tracking to be by the bottom
tip by 8, but that's okay. I'd rather
hit the cool spots and have a good time
along the way than rush for sunset and
skip cool things, you know. All right,
without further ado, let's keep going.
But I'm glad we got to sit here for a
bit. This is Sheep Meadow and it's just
the coolest view ever from any park that
I can think of, you know, urban park
that is. Okay, enough chitchat.

That is the billboard I was on once upon
a time. I never really talked about that
in a YouTube video. Anyways, pretty
neat.

Like a walk in the lake of Manhattan if
I didn't walk through Time Square. No,
this is insane. Now this is slowing down
my pace.
[Music]

I'll make you want a sunny day.
>> On 42nd Street, you will see why this
street is special to me, or at least
holds a place in my heart very shortly.
The next day you told me,
>> "Oh my gosh, some of you who are
longtime viewers might recognize my
background." This is my first apartment
in New York City. This is the first
place I lived. And I'm going to stop in
and see if my old door men are still
there and if they remember me. And I
don't know, I kind of wanted to take a
little mini walk down memory lane while
doing this. So, here we are. I never
revealed like out loud where I live, but
this is Silver Towers in Hills Kitchen,
New York City on 42nd and 11th Avenue.
Great first place to live. Here we go.
Let's see.
>> Oh, hi. I just wanted to say hi. I was
in the neighborhood. Do you remember me?
>> Oh, well, I'm good. It's good to see
you. A, that was sweet. Tomas, the Mador
man, who I was the closest with, wasn't
there, but Elise, who I also knew pretty
well, was there, and we chatted for a
few minutes. Anyways, little walk down
memory lane. We're actually walking down
memory lane for a second. Here, I'll
show you. We are walking that way
towards my old office. When I first
moved here, the building that we were
just in, all these other ones in Hudson
Yard, they weren't even built. And now
they are totally filled out and I'm not
up in this area very often. So, it's my
first or second time seeing it like
fully built. All of these really, well,
not all of them. I worked in one of
them, but you know. Okay. And then this
is the Javit Center which is just a
freaking huge center where a lot of
conventions host and all that funny.
This is where I spoke on my very first
panel as part of my YouTube career. And
that felt like a very full circle moment
for me because I used to live over there
and I spoke here but I used to work in
consulting here. So it just it felt like
a very full circle moment when I was
here again. That's my old office. It
weirdly feels like it was just
yesterday, but also a lifetime ago at
the same time that this was my walk to
work. It feels more like a lifetime ago
than just yesterday. But you might
recall baby Taylor did some vlogs right
here. And here I am 4 years after
moving.

Crazy. All right, little update. I am in
the Hudson Yards Mall for a little bit
charging my phone. It's at 32% and we
got to make it all the way to the bottom
tip and I need like 50% for that. Also,
morale check-in. I'm sitting by the
bathroom. Feeling pretty good. I will
admit I'm starting to get just a little
bit of soreness in like these areas, but
still no acute pain.
Sent on the ground eating cherries. Feel
like a feral cat. When people walk by, I
just want to go. And we back. Farewell
office. Farewell vessel. We're taking
the high line down, baby.
And there's my friend Sherban's
apartment. See all the saunas? And then
there's a bunch of ice baths right
beyond that wall there. I'm not even
doxing him. He posts a lot of videos
from there. Anyway, I just think
I've always thought it is so cool. It's
a repurposing of like half a railroad
that used to run through here. Now
they've just built some really, really
awesome real estate. I mean, this is
crazy. This is a Zaha building. I
remember reading all about it the first
time I saw it. I actually talked about
it in a video years ago. That's a cool
example of one. But then you also have
old things, too. So, it's just a cool
combination once again of the old and
the new. I think I'm pretty drawn to
places that do both really well. It was
especially during this part of the walk
that the challenge started to feel less
like a physical feat and more like a
walk through a portal into my past.
Sounds cheesy, but it's true. The
apartment where I lived in my early days
in the city, the office where I worked
long hours in consulting, the city
streets I walked on daily. They all
represent some chapter of my life where
I had some of my biggest wins, my
biggest fails. I learned who I was and
who I wasn't. It doesn't usually hit me
quite as acutely as it did on this walk.
Just how much this city has shaped me.
Step by step, block by block, it felt
like I was stitching all those versions
of myself together. It reminded me of
how far I've come and how much further
there still is to go. And these
buildings are just pretty insane as
well. These are by the same architect
who did the vessel from Hudson Yards and
Little Island, which I was going to take
you guys to, but I don't think we'll go
there after all. All right, y'all. I'm
going to be honest with you. I was fully
prepared to go into Chelsea Market,
which is iconic. I thought I'd be ready
to eat again by now cuz the last time we
had a real piece of food was at Zars up
on 80th Street. But I'm just not that
hungry. partially number one because I
just ate like 30 more cherries on the
ground from the mall. And then B, I'm
still saving myself for that sweet
treat. Yeah, you remember that? Still
haven't got it. We're on our way. We're
really close, actually. New Yorkers, you
might be able to guess where we're
going. It's in West Village. Classic New
York spot. Little sweet treat. Little
pickme up. I'm excited. And that's a
second stomach. Okay, I know I said I
wasn't hungry. Dessert. Separate
stomach. Guys, I got to tell you,
couldn't be more thrilled with the
weather. Oh, Starbucks Reserve Roaster.
Fun fact, you know how you can get your
free birthday drink, whatever you want
from Starbucks on your birthday. Well,
if you live in a city with a Starbucks
reserve, you can also get one of those
drinks as your free birthday drink. And
those ones cost a lot. So, kind of a fun
hack. I did that last year. I wasn't
sure if it was going to work and it did.
I got a big old fancy drink.

I've always loved this cobblestone area
and meat packing. I just think it's
really, really pleasant,

guys. It's golden hour. We have an hour
and 3 minutes until proper sunset. We'll
see where we get
beautiful cobblestone streets in the
West Village. All right, we are nearing
our sweet treats. I'll give you a hint.

>> Okie dokie. We bit of a time crunch at
this point to make it to the bottom by
sunset, but uh I got to sit for a sec
and eat my sweet treat.
If you guys don't know, Magnolia Bakery,
banana pudding in New York City is
pretty much as classic as you can get.
And you guys might be like me where you
think, "Oh, banana pudding, like how
good can it be?" Maybe you don't even
like it. That's what I thought until I
had this. Seriously, it is just I mean,
it's ridiculously good.
Also, just like such a quaint
neighborhood. Oh my god.
All right, we'll take the rest on the
road. But sweet treat succeeded. All
right, this is Perry Street in the West
Village. It's the one with Carrie
Bradshaw's really, really nice town
home. It's on that street. This whole
entire area really is quintessentially
most cute New York City. Okay, making
our way. We're actually going to pass my
very first apartment when I interned in
the city. I don't consider that my first
real apartment cuz I only lived there
for a summer when I was interning in
finance the summer after my sophomore
year.

I showed you guys in my fall vlog, but I
used to live right here for reference.
That's Three Lives Bookstore. That's the
Vanloo. It's on the corner. And it was a
really, really fun place to live.
Although I was too young, I think, to
live in this area. Kind of need more
disposable income to live here, but it
was very fun nonetheless.

And then that is Stonewall which is a
major historic site for LGBTQ rights.
>> Quick pit stop. Feel like I have to come
here. I'm walking the length of
Manhattan. It's like Time Square. go all
in or we will end up wondering.

>> We're going a couple streets out of the
way cuz I want to go down my favorite
street in Soho where I think you get the
best view of the quintessential crown
molding high ceiling art lofts that Soho
is so famous for. I mean, here you can
already see the cobblestones and and
some of my favorite architecture. So,
and here is the shot. This is my
favorite shot to get. I just think that
these ones all in a row are so cool. And
then you get the Jenga building in the
background, too. This is a bit of an
eyesore today. It's not usually like
that, but I'm glad we walked down the
street. A little morale check-in. My
feet hurt. They do. Once again, I
wouldn't say it's like a super nagging
acute pain, but um the fatigue is
definitely hitting these puppies. You
know, I'm very thankful for them though.
They take me far and wide. They take me
fast when I want them to. I don't know.
I could get emotional if I thought about
it too hard. I'm at an age and hopefully
I will be an age for a long time where I
could just kind of do this at the snap
of my fingers when I want to and to be
physically able to do so and to have a
fiery enough spirit. Whatever. We don't
have to get into that. But I'm very
thankful for my legs today.

Crossing Canal. Major milestone if you
ask me cuz Canal is like pretty far
south. We're getting there, guys. The
World Trade Center is looking bigger and
bigger. Not so far out of reach anymore.
No, we're not in Chicago. But they have
a beam here, too. Kind of cool, huh?

I look funny.
Okay, that's enough. Wasting my battery
on silliness. had to come by. Passing
through Tribeca. This is Staple Street
Sky Bridge and it's just kind of an
iconic Tribeca landmark. All right,
we're not there yet, but this is very
rewarding. It's so close and we're
actually going a bit beyond, but it is a
very, very helpful beacon. This is a
very, very pleasant walk and there's a
nice breeze. It almost feels like a warm
fall day, but a fall day at that. We've
made it to the Oculus. It is quite the
site. It was opened to the public in
2016. Designed by Valencia, Spainborn
architect Santiago Kalatraa. And I know
it ended up being twice as expensive as
the budget allowed for. Classic. And
it's right across from ground zero.
These are the two footprints of where
the Twin Towers used to be. Roped off
after a certain hour, but it is a very,
very well done memorial. The 9/11 museum
is also very well done. Highly recommend
a visit if you want to go. And then here
is the Freedom Tower. It is so big. It
is just so big. When you look up at it,
you almost lose balance.
We are past the World Trade Center that
is behind us. We're almost there, guys.
I'm actually You'd think I'd be taking
it easy here at the end. Uh-uh. I'm
actually debating jogging cuz it's
getting dark. Not for safety. Like,
there's plenty light. There's plenty of
people out. I just want to be able to
get a good shot at the end. We just hit
the 20 mile mark.
I didn't come this late for nothing. You
actually are jogging the rest of the
way. Thank you, legs. Thank you, lungs.
Thank you, New York. Thank you all the
cool people in the city. I'm coming for
you.
Okay, I'm not going to film the whole
rest of the way, but I promise I'm doing
it.
I see it. And we're doing it.
I actually feel pretty good. I'm
jogging. There's no ground.

Oh my god, I'm so sweaty. Jeez. That's
the Statue of Liberty, believe it or
not. And this is me at the very, very
tip now.
Wow.

Oh my god. I don't even know what to
say. We did it. Goal number one was to
prove to myself that I could do
something totally pointless but very
challenging. Did I meet that goal? Hell
yeah, I met that goal. I actually never
questioned that I would finish. But I
think I underestimated how hard it would
be. My legs and feet held up as good as
I could have hoped. 21 miles. Oh, did I
even tell you guys I clocked in at 21
miles total. And what did I guess? 17.8.
Final answer. 17.8 and I thought 18
would be a crazy guess. I'm closer to a
marathon than a half marathon today,
which is kind of crazy. And I know some
people run that all the time. Good for
them. That is not the kind of exercise I
do. So, this was very challenging for
me, but so incredibly rewarding. Goal
number two, sweet treat. Obviously, I
hit that goal. I have the magnolia
pudding. Actually, I ate it all. Goal
number three was that even though this
was going to be an active day, I wanted
to also take it as an opportunity to
slow down, notice the details around me,
just really be in touch with my
surroundings. Did I achieve that goal? I
did. I will say though that I think it
made me realize, if I may say so, I'm
already pretty good at this. It's not
that uncommon that I'll run into a pole
or something cuz I'm just looking up and
noticing the buildings and the
architecture and all that good stuff
around me. But aside from patting myself
on the back, I think that what it did
was just like it reinforced my love for
the city and all the different kinds of
people in it and the different
neighborhoods and how they each have
such distinct personalities. It is just
remarkable and it was an absolute
pleasure to walk through. It just gave
me a very very deep reinforcement and
appreciation for New York. Goal number
four. Did I find the most New York
moment possible and capture it? Ooh, you
know, I might not have reached that
goal. What did I see?
I'm just replaying it all in my head. I
saw a lot. Say I failed this goal.
That's okay. A New York moment. Can I
capture it? Can I capture it? I got it.
That was pretty New York. Goal number
five was to have fun. I had a lot of
fun. Today is one for the books. I know
I'm going to remember this forever. I
know I'm going to refer back to it a
lot. Whenever I go somewhere in the
future that I went to today, I know I'm
going to say, "Oh, I did that on my
turtle walk." I just know I am. Turtle
walk for close friends and family.
