- Yes we're putting a flag up because it's Memorial Day,

where we remember the people

that have sacrificed their life to serve our country.

So that's what we're gonna do.

And it's also sort of the unofficial beginning of summer,

so like this around the time when summer break starts,

and the summer vacations, and the summer holidays.

This is when it begins.

So, we're getting summer started off right now

by putting up a flag so let's build this thing.

- So I think our house already has these things on it,

which hold the flag in place, so we don't need that.

It's much bigger than I thought it was gonna be.

So we are having a little get together tonight

and I feel like every time we have a get together,

we use it as an opportunity to sort

of enhance our house a little bit.

- Polish things up.

- On my birthday we got two couches.

- On Bailey's birthday, for example,

we had no couches so we got some.

Today we're getting something

that Jessica's been begging for for a long time: light.

- A lamp in our living room because we have no lighting.

We had to bring lamps in from other rooms.

- We did the ole' lamp shuffle, the ole' lamp shuffle.

So today we are in the lighting department

and we are gonna try and find something

to illuminate our fireplace room,

like a nice chandelier, you want a chandelier?

- This would be actually ideal but do you know

how to put this into our ceiling?

- Absolutely not.

I'm not an electrician so I don't know

how to like, have wires go through our ceiling.

I'm not an electrician.

This beautiful lamp post right

in the middle of the living room,

think of the statement we'd be making.

- As long as there's light I'm fine,

I'll do anything, I don't care.

- [Jacob] I want that.

- [Chris] You'll never be able to keep me

from singing "Singin' in the Rain"

and hanging off the bar (baby yells happily)

Can you find a good light for us?

- Yeah.

- [Chris] Ooh, here's what we got, we got some lights.

- [Parker] I like the rainbow one!

- [Chris] Ooh, is that the one? I like that one.

- That's what you've been wanting, right?

I don't think. We'd need you to stand under it all the time.

- Yeah, we can do that!

I'll be like, I'm singing in the rain!

- Jessica was like, "okay, this one's $144,

we'll get that one. But this one over here,

the unattractive one, is less money so maybe we'll do that.

We'll get the less attractive one."

- I don't know.

This is all probably temporary, right?

Someday we'll actually hire an electrician and get

our house to actually work.

No?

- If we keep throwing parties.

Okay so this keeps happening every time we try to

get a light for that room, we get like stumped.

We get totally stumped.

We'll be all, "That's the one!"

And then they're out of stock of the one,

or we see another one and we're like, "That one might

be better, but we're not sure."

- They were out of stock of the two that we decided on.

- And then it's like,

do we get a standing one or do we like,

run a cable across the top of room,

do we get an electrician to come in and put a light in?

- I would've been fine with any of those options,

but they were out of the ones that we were like,

these are the ones, so.

- So, we're going to another store and there's one

that's here that we'll get if we can't find anything

better, right?

That's the plan?

The current plan?

- Yes.

- Okay.

- It's gonna end in a dark room.

- So we went to another store and they were out

of stock of the lights we wanted also.

So now we're back at The Home Depot,

we're gonna get a light that probably won't

work in that room permanently, but it'll work

for today and at least Jessica gets some light tonight.

That's the best I can do.

But, everybody's waiting in the car

except for these two guys.

Yeah, and Duncan's driving. (bubbly horn music)

Duncan, are you driving?

Okay, drive us through.

- [Parker] Duncan, are you driving?

- Yeah.

(child laughs)

- {Christopher] Driving both side, huh?

Where's your driver's license?

- [Chris] Okay, okay.

- All right, look.

Look how dark I am because of the lights.

I should stand in here.

All right, the lights are in place.

It's hard to tell right now because it's day time,

but at night time this room gets really really dark

and those might just help us out a little bit.

Our hope is to have something that's here on

the ceiling at some point.

But today it seemed like too much of a project

and they didn't have the light that we liked the best

in stock so, for today this is what we got going on.

And now we gotta clean up a little bit and get prepped

for a big, barbecue, bash.

All right our friends are here, I got the barbecue going.

Got some corn, we got some hotdogs.

It's a party.

- [Chris] Uh, oh!

Jacob and Parker both have gymnastics, usually and...

- They both have gymnastics?

like today but it is a holiday so the main office

of the gymnastics place is closed.

But because they're on pre-team,

usually, even if it is a holiday, they go

and we're not sure if they have class right now or not.

So we're gonna drive to the gymnasium,

see if there are people there,

and if they need to be in their class practicing

their mad skills.

So there's a chance that we'll go there and turn around.

There's a chance that that they'll do gymnastics.

But, we're bringing some of the party with us.

There we go.

So, let's go see if gymnastics is a thing.

Okay, we just got here to gymnastics

and it's definitely closed so,

back to the party.

We got back home and Jessica had started

a game without me.

- I did!

And we have enough for another player too.

- [Chris] But, not anymore because you've

already started playing

- We haven't gone all the way around.

- [Chris] Okay.

- We can fill you in.

I'm gonna save the world.

Okay, the party is over.

This room is lit a little better than it usually is.

I'm pretty excited about this new lamp
