- Today we're gonna take stock of everything

in our closets and figure out how much it's worth.

- Including our clothes, bags, and shoes.

- So I feel like you forget what the total

just see how much its worth.

- I feel like I'm, at this point in my life,

maybe spending a little bit too much on clothes.

I do a lot of retail therapy where I'm like,

"I'm feeling a little sad today, let's browse online."

- I feel like I'm the opposite though.

I literally always go to the back of

the store to find a good sale.

- So, we're gonna take all of our items

and put them in a spread sheet

and if we can't remember the original price,

or we don't have a receipt, we're going to use a comparable

item from the same brand and use that as the price.

(apprehensive music)

God, I feel like I'm gonna be so off.

- Oh my god, so okay--

- Wait, I forgot shoes.

- Oh yeah, the shoes.

- My guess is very specific.

Okay, my guess is that my closet

is worth 2,983.

- I'm nervous.

I don't know why this gives me anxiety.

I just really wanna be accurate with my number.

- I'm know I'm gonna have to spend less.

There's some stuff from like, a while back ago.

And I feel like a lot of things that

I've only worn once, which is a shame.

This outfit has been there for me

throughout all my job interviews.

I think I've worn it for like, three job interviews.

Usually got 'em with this outfit.

I think this was probably $19.99.

Didn't realize I really liked buying

denim shorts every summer.

Way too short for me, so next.

- [Sara] They all look exactly the same, Shila.

- Why did I buy so many of these shorts?

I don't know why.

Yeah, I didn't know I had an obsession for

denim until I actually looked through my closet.

I've never even worn this.

There's one item that I got,

that I spent a little too much for.

I feel like I spent 80 dollars on this

and I've only worn it for half a day.

You know, it just doesn't--

It just didn't look as good as it did

when I tried it in the fitting room.

Who knows, I might need it for a 70s party.

I got this for like 200, probably almost 300 dollars.

I love Selena Gomez.

She reps Texas, I love her.

And she wore a dress very similar to this.

I've worn it probably a few times since then,

so I've definitely got my money's worth.

Some of these shoes I've had for years.

Years.

Oh, this one!

I've definitely worn this way too many times.

Like, its already falling apart,

but I still find a reason to like, wear them.

These I spent like, I think 19 dollars at Target.

This, I got a really good sell at Urban.

You're not gonna believe how much these cost me.

These cost me three bucks.

That's my closet.

They all just have--

Like, I love wearing black and I feel like they

all have their own uniqueness to it, in the style.

- Floor length.

- Looks like it retailed for like, 299.

- Seems about right.

- How many items do you think you had?

- Um, probably over 100.

- [Sara] 111 items.

- Wow, I was close.

- So, I'm going to take these numbers and crunch them.

And we'll figure out how much money you spent on them.

- Okay, how much do you think?

How much from your analysis?

I don't know, I'm not a scientist.

I'm just gonna add tell the spreadsheets to add it together.

- These are all my precious friends.

I love them very dearly.

(laughs)

I'm a little nervous because who wants

to put a monetary value on friendship.

There's a lot of crop tops.

I have this crazy, billowy sleeve thing that I love to wear.

I mean, I have this.

It's a co-word.

I really love it because it was so hard to get.

Yeah, I don't wear it super often,

but it's really cool, isn't it?

- [Sara] Was it expensive?

- It wasn't cheap.

(laughs)

Okay, this I haven't worn and there's still a tag on it.

This is my favorite jacket that I own.

I feel like it must of been in the 50, 60 dollar range.

And it has these amazing gold tassel-y things.

I wear it all the freaking time.

Probably too much.

This is Zara coat.

I impulse bought this at Zara for

our holiday party two years ago.

However, I wear it all the time now.

Okay, here's a black dress that I bought recently.

Casual black dress.

A little bodycon, off the shoulder black dress.

A velvet off the shoulder black dress

that I wear to fancy things.

A black dress with a cool striped color.

I don't know, I think there's probably

15 or 20 black dresses.

(laughs)

It's a doable amount of things to catalog at least.

and I'm really excited about the next item.

- It's a bondage skirt.

- Like, when you saw it what were you like--

What drew you to this?

- It was unique and it was interesting and it was different.

It seemed like a good way to spice things

up without like, doing too much.

- [Sara] So, we're now looking at your

famous graffiti, sort of pop art crop top set.

How much do you think it was, before you look it up?

(sighs)

Like 120.

The jacket is 87.

And the skirt is 45.

- [Sara] Okay, so you were about right.

- I was close.

We did it.

We finished.

Now what?

- [Sara] Do you wanna know how many items you have?

- I think it might, the upper limit of my guess was 150,

so how many do I have?

- [Sara] 96!

- 96?

- [Sara] Oh, just kidding.

How crazy.

- [Sara] Oh, you do have 96 actually.

- Okay, 90--

(laughs)

I don't have as many things as I think that I do.

- [Sara] I'm going to calculate these numbers.

I'm gonna put them through the system

and we'll see how much it all is.

(keyboard keys clicking)

(laughter)

- You want to drag me?

- Yes, I want to see how much you spend.

(groans)

- That's not terrible.

It is a lot probably for the average person who

like, doesn't do retail therapy the way that I do.

(laughs)

- Again, not terrible for the amount of shoes that I own.

- [Sara] For bags it was 58.89.

- Yeah, I guess that makes sense.

I have two bags.

What's the total?

- [Sara] 3,407 and 33 cents.

(whistles)

- That's a lot of money on things that I wear.

I think that's right in the ball park of what I guessed.

I'm aware of what I spend.

I don't spend a lot at one time.

I just spend a medium amount over many times.

- Remember when you said that I spend a lot on shoes?

- I barely--

I have like, what, how many pairs of shoes?

Not even that much.

Like six pairs?

Guess 400 is probably how much I spend

in like five years, so that's not too bad.

- [Sara] And then bags you had 193.

- Yeah, 193 is not bad.

- [Sara] Then your total is 3,806 and 52.

- Dang.

I guess I spend more than Nina on this.

I mean, I don't think I was too far

off from my original guess.

I think that--

- You were like 1000 dollars off!

(laughs)

- Wait, how much, 3000 what?

- 800.

- Oh (bleeps).

I shop on the on sale section, so this was

kind of a revelation for myself.

I guess it kind of changes my mindset in the sense of

how I shop because I buy a lot of

inexpensive little things and I kind of

wanna start investing in more quality

things and actually wear them more often.

Rather than just have random things in my

closet that I think I might wear.

- You know, my number is probably pretty high,

but again, a lot of those pieces in my

closet I've worn a lot.

They have either happy memories associated with them,

or they make me feel really good about myself.

I feel like having a lot of clothes or things for your

aesthetic is something that's very associated with women.

Is anybody shaming men for having fancy watches

or buying expensive sports cars?

- You know if that outfit, that red top,

or that black shirt really makes you happy

and makes you joyful putting it on,

I think that there shouldn't be any shame in

buying something that makes you feel confident.
