effective ways to practice speaking 00:21
English alone and to help us with this 00:23

[Music] 00:41
episode welcome Bob hi Lisa thank you 00:45
for having me I'm really excited about 00:48
today's topic because I know a lot of 00:50
Learners struggle with speaking English 00:53
when they don't have a partner to 00:56
practice with but the good news is you 00:58
don't need a 01:01
partner there are many creative ways to 01:03
practice alone that's right so if you're 01:05
ready to take your English speaking 01:09
skills to the next level stay with us 01:10
until the end let's get 01:13
[Music] 01:15
started all right Bob let's jump right 01:19
into it what is the first way people can 01:22
practice speaking English alone the 01:25
first way is thinking in English 01:28
this is one of the easiest ways to 01:30
practice and you can do it anywhere for 01:32
example when you wake up in the morning 01:36
try to describe your day in 01:38
English instead of saying I need to 01:41
brush my teeth in your native language 01:44
say it in English that's a great tip I 01:47
do this when I'm cooking I say things 01:50
like now I'm cutting the vegetables next 01:52
I will fry them it really helps me to 01:55
stay in the English mindset 01:57
exactly the more you think in English 02:00
the easier it becomes to speak 02:03
fluently all right let's move on to the 02:06
second way talking to yourself ah I love 02:09
this one some people might think it's 02:13
weird to talk to yourself but it 02:15
actually 02:16
works yes you can stand in front of a 02:17
mirror and have a conversation with 02:21
yourself pretend you're introducing 02:24
yourself to someone new say things like 02:26
hi my name is Bob I love teaching 02:30
English what about you and then answer 02:32
your own question that sounds fun and if 02:36
you make mistakes no one will hear you 02:40
so you don't have to feel shy 02:42
exactly it's a safe way to build 02:45
confidence now let's talk about the 02:48
Third Way reading out loud oh this one 02:50
is so helpful when you read a book an 02:54
article or even a social media post post 02:57
read it out loud instead of in your head 03:00
it helps with pronunciation and fluency 03:03
yes and you can even try to act like a 03:06
Storyteller add some emotions and 03:09
expressions while reading for example if 03:11
the sentence says the little boy was 03:14
very happy don't just read it flatly say 03:17
it with 03:21
excitement that's a great tip all right 03:22
what's the fourth way the fourth way is 03:25
shadowing 03:29
this means listening to a native speaker 03:30
and repeating what they say as quickly 03:33
as 03:35
possible oh I've tried this with 03:36
podcasts and movies I pause after each 03:38
sentence and try to copy the speaker's 03:41
pronunciation and Rhythm yes it's a 03:43
great way to improve pronunciation and 03:46
intonation if you do this every day you 03:49
will sound more natural when you speak 03:53
English that's amazing and finally 03:55
what's the last way the last way is 03:58
recording yourself many people feel 04:01
nervous when speaking but if you record 04:04
yourself and listen to it you can hear 04:06
your mistakes and improve that's a great 04:09
idea sometimes we don't realize how we 04:13
sound until we listen to 04:15
ourselves exactly and over time you'll 04:17
notice your progress so don't be afraid 04:20
to try 04:24
it these are fantastic tips Bob but I 04:24
have a question 04:29
what if someone doesn't feel motivated 04:30
to practice alone how can they stay 04:32
consistent that's a great question Lisa 04:35
motivation is key one way to stay 04:38
motivated is to set small achievable 04:41
goals for example decide to practice 04:44
speaking for just 5 minutes a day once 04:47
it becomes a habit you can increase the 04:50
time that makes sense if the goal is too 04:54
big people might feel overwhelmed and 04:57
give up exactly another trick is to 04:59
reward 05:03
yourself if you practice speaking every 05:05
day for a week treat yourself to 05:07
something you enjoy maybe a nice coffee 05:09
or watching your favorite show in 05:12
English I love that idea and what about 05:14
using technology are there any apps or 05:18
tools that can help 05:20
absolutely there are many apps like Elsa 05:23
speak speechling and even Google 05:26
translates voice feature you can speak 05:29
into these apps and they will give you 05:32
feedback on 05:35
pronunciation that's so useful and 05:36
another idea is to keep a speaking 05:39
journal every day you can record a short 05:42
voice note about your day your thoughts 05:45
or even a new word you 05:47
learned yes that's an excellent idea and 05:49
over time you'll have a record of your 05:54
progress which can be really motiv ating 05:56
wow these extra tips are so helpful 06:00
thank you Bob for sharing so much 06:03
valuable 06:05
[Music] 06:06
advice now it's time for a fun fact did 06:10
you know that even native English 06:14
speakers talk to 06:16
themselves really yes studies show that 06:17
talking to yourself can help you think 06:21
clearly solve problems and even boost 06:23
your confidence so when you practice 06:26
speaking English a alone you're not just 06:28
improving your language skills you're 06:30
also training your brain that's 06:32
fascinating so Learners shouldn't feel 06:35
embarrassed about talking to themselves 06:38
it's actually a smart way to learn 06:40
exactly so everyone keep practicing and 06:43
don't be 06:47
[Music] 06:48

今天我们有一个非常有趣的话题
适合所有英语学习者
你有没有想过练习英语口语
但没有人可以聊天?别担心,在这一期节目中
我们将分享五个简单有效的
方法来独自练习英语口语
为了帮助我们,今天我们邀请了一位特别嘉宾
English alone and to help us with this

他帮助了很多学生提高口语技能

节欢迎鲍勃,嗨丽莎,谢谢你邀请我
我对今天的话题真的很兴奋
因为我知道很多学习者
在没有练习伙伴时
挣扎于英语口语
但好消息是,你不需要伙伴
有很多创造性的方式
可以独自练习,对,没错
如果你准备好将英语口语技能提升到一个新层次
那就跟着我们到最后吧
让我们开始
until the end let's get
[Music]
this means listening to a native speaker
太棒了,最后
是什么方式?
最后一种方式是录制自己
很多人说话时会紧张
但如果你录下来听,可以听到自己的错误并改进
这是一个很好的想法,有时候我们
不知道自己听起来怎么样,直到听自己的声音
没错,随着时间,你会注意到进步
所以别害怕试试
这些是极好的建议,鲍勃,但我想问一个问题
如果有人独自练习没有动力怎么办?
他们怎么保持一致性?
这是一个很好的问题,丽莎
yourself and listen to it you can hear
动力很关键,一个保持动力方式是
idea sometimes we don't realize how we
[Music]
没错,如果你每天试试这些方法
你的口语技能会进步很多
非常感谢鲍勃分享这些惊人建议
themselves really yes studies show that
我的荣幸,希望大家觉得这些建议有用
