[Music] 00:57
hi Lisa hi everyone I'm so excited to be 01:00
here habits are such a powerful part of 01:03
our lives and I can't wait to share some 01:05
tips and stories with you all great to 01:08
have you Anthony let's get started 01:12
because I know our listeners are eager 01:14
to learn how to make 2025 their best 01:15
year yet Anthony let's start with the 01:18
basics why are habits so important and 01:21
why do we struggle to stick to them 01:24
that's a great question Lisa habits are 01:27
like the building blocks of our daily 01:29
lives they shape our routines our 01:31
success and even our happiness the 01:34
problem is that most people focus on big 01:36
goals like losing 20 pound or saving a 01:39
lot of money without creating small 01:42
sustainable habits to support those 01:45
goals for example if someone wants to 01:47
lose weight they might jump into an 01:50
intense workout routine or a strict diet 01:53
but without small habits like drinking 01:57
more water or taking a 10-minute walk 01:59
daily they often burn out quickly that 02:02
makes so much sense so what's the secret 02:06
to building habits that last the secret 02:09
is starting small and being consistent I 02:12
like to call it the 1% rule instead of 02:15
trying to make huge changes overnight 02:19
aim to get just 1% better every day over 02:22
time these small improvements add up to 02:26
big results for example let's say you 02:29
want to read more books in 02:33
2025 instead of setting a goal to read 02:36
one book A Week start by reading just 02:39
one page a day it sounds small but once 02:41
you build the Habit you'll naturally 02:44
start reading 02:46
more I love that small steps can feel 02:47
less overwhelming too but what about 02:51
people who say they don't have time to 02:54
build new 02:55
habits yeah the I don't have time excuse 02:56
the truth is we all have the same 24 03:00
hours in a day it's about prioritizing 03:03
what matters one trick I suggest is 03:06
habit stacking habit stacking that 03:09
sounds interesting can you explain sure 03:12
habit stacking is when you pair a new 03:16
habit with something you already 03:19
do for example if you want to start 03:21
flossing your teeth you can stack it 03:24
with brushing your teeth you brush the 03:27
then you 03:29
floss it becomes one routine another 03:30
example if you want to practice 03:34
gratitude do it while you're having your 03:36
morning 03:38
coffee just think of one thing you're 03:39
grateful for each time you 03:41
sip wow that's so practical I can see 03:44
how stacking habits can make it easier 03:48
to remember and stick with 03:49
them exactly and one more tip don't be 03:51
too hard on yourself if you miss a day 03:55
what matters is getting back on 03:58
track think of Habits Like a garden you 04:01
don't throw away the whole garden just 04:04
because one plant dies you keep watering 04:06
and taking care of it that's a beautiful 04:09
analogy 04:12
Anthony now what about bad habits how do 04:14
we break those in 04:17
2025 great question Breaking Bad Habits 04:20
is about replacing them with better ones 04:23
for example if you're trying to stop 04:26
scrolling on your phone before for bed 04:28
replace that habit with reading a book 04:30
or journaling it's easier to replace a 04:32
habit than to Simply stop it also make 04:35
the bad habit less convenient if you 04:38
tend to snack on junk food don't keep it 04:40
in the house replace it with healthier 04:43
options like fruits or 04:45
nuts that's so true out of sight out of 04:47
mind do you have any personal examples 04:51
of habits you've built or broken sure a 04:53
few years ago I wanted to start medit 04:57
ating at first I struggled to find the 04:59
time but I used habit stacking I 05:02
meditated for 5 minutes right after 05:05
brushing my teeth in the morning now 05:07
it's a natural part of my day and it 05:10
helps me feel calm and 05:13
focused that's 05:15
inspiring but Anthony some people say 05:17
they start a habit and stick to it for a 05:20
while but then they just lose motivation 05:22
what's your advice for staying motivated 05:24
ah motivation is tricky because it comes 05:27
and goes that's why relying on 05:30
discipline and systems is more effective 05:33
than waiting for 05:35
motivation create an environment that 05:37
supports your habits for example if you 05:39
want to work out in the morning lay out 05:42
your gym clothes the night before or if 05:45
you want to eat healthier prepare your 05:48
meals in advance so you're not tempted 05:51
to grab fast 05:53
food that's fantastic advice Anthony 05:55
thank you for breaking it down so so 05:58
[Music] 06:00
clearly Anthony I read somewhere that 06:04
habits make up about 40% of our daily 06:06
actions isn't that incredible it really 06:09
is Lisa and here's another fun fact 06:12
research shows that it takes on average 06:16
66 days to form a new habit not 21 days 06:19
as many people 06:24
believe wow 66 days that's a bit longer 06:25
than I thought but it makes sense good 06:29
things take time right exactly the key 06:31
is to stay patient and celebrate small 06:35
winds along the way even if it's just 06:37
sticking to your habit for one week 06:40
reward yourself I love that idea rewards 06:43
make the process fun and 06:46

[Music]
[Music]
