- Hey, Mamas! Jordan Page here, 00:05
and this is Millennial Moms. 00:07
♫ Happy New Year, happy, happy new year 00:09
It's 2017. 00:12
I've got a lot of fun video ideas in my head, 00:14
and the first one, it is my best shopping tips and secrets. 00:16
Don't forget to subscribe and give this video a thumbs up, 00:22
and now let's get on with it, shall we? 00:24
Alright, my first tip is my favorite 00:26
and one that many people do not know. 00:28
Are you ready? 00:30
Did you know that January and June, 00:31
the first J months of the year, 00:34
are for most stores their best sales of the entire year, 00:36
including Black Friday and Christmas? 00:40
I know, right? 00:43
It's true. 00:45
Be sure to start at the back of the store. 00:45
That's right, that's where their clearance, 00:49
sale racks, closeouts, last-chance items, 00:50
nine times out of 10, 00:54
the best deals can be found in the back. 00:55
But, there's a catch, and that is 00:57
don't be sticker-blind. 00:59
Just because something has a sale sticker on it 01:00
doesn't necessarily mean it's a great deal. 01:02
Sometimes stores will jack up the price 01:06
before marking them down. 01:08
If it's really not that much cheaper 01:09
than a full-price item, 01:11
you may wanna go with the full-price item 01:12
because if there are store coupons, 01:14
they can usually be used on that full-price item 01:16
and not the sale item. 01:19
One of my personal shopping tips 01:20
is to try something on 01:22
even if it looks terrible on the rack. 01:24
Uh, actually, especially if it looks terrible on the rack. 01:26
Let's be honest, your body is not shaped like a hanger. 01:30
If you think you might like it, 01:33
if the price is right, try it on, 01:34
you may be surprised and end up loving it. 01:36
And honestly, the clothes that look super weird on the rack 01:39
are usually the ones that go on sale first. 01:42
When you go shopping, do your hair and do your makeup. 01:44
I know this seems super weird, 01:46
but, guess what, you're gonna be staring at yourself 01:48
in a mirror all day long in changing rooms. 01:50
If you are not feeling confident, 01:53
then you're probably going to walk away 01:55
thinking everything looks terrible on you. 01:56
Do your makeup, do your hair, feel good about yourself, 01:58
and then as you try on clothes, 02:00
you'll have a better perspective about 02:02
how it looks on your body 02:04
and you won't be caught up by the fact 02:05
that you're just, like, not very put together that day. 02:06
I always like to wear a fitted undershirt 02:09
that's either white or black and leggings. 02:11
That way I don't have to completely undress. 02:14
I can throw pants, shorts, skirts, anything on 02:16
over the t-shirt and the leggings. 02:19
It makes for a faster process 02:21
and you can see if, with the t-shirt and leggings, 02:23
maybe the clothes can be adapted 02:25
to fit your style and your modesty level. 02:26
One of my best shopping tips is to buy off-season. 02:29
Recently I was shopping at the outlets, 02:32
I saw a ton of cute sandals and wedges 02:34
and adorable shoes that are not appropriate for the snow 02:38
that is outside in Utah right now. 02:40
But guess what! 02:42
All of the shoes were either six, seven, or eight dollars, 02:43
so you better believe I bought several pair, 02:47
and I'm just gonna save them and hold onto them 02:49
for when the weather gets warmer again. 02:51
Alright, here's just like a shopping survival tip, 02:53
bring snacks, mama! 02:55
Something sugary is what I prefer. 02:58
It'll keep you fueled up and you can get more done, 03:00
and do it, and feel great, 03:02
buy some great stuff, find some good deals. 03:03
Yeah! 03:05
Ug, what else? 03:06
Another great shopping tip is to ask. 03:07
Ask, ask, ask, ask, ask, 03:10
I cannot stress this enough. 03:12
Ask when something's gonna go on sale. 03:13
Do you have any specials going on right now? 03:15
Do you have this in any other sizes? 03:17
Ask if there's anything you can do to get a coupon 03:18
or get a discount. 03:20
When is this gonna be marked down? 03:21
If there's a similar item that's cheaper. 03:22
Ask what their favorite color is, 03:25
I'll ask who their boyfriend is, 03:26
I don't know, just ask, it'll strike up a conversation, 03:27
it'll be really fun. 03:29
Do you know that if you're a student, 03:30
you can show your student ID 03:31
and H&M, almost every store, 03:32
will offer you a discount for being a student. 03:35
Military discount, even senior discounts. 03:38
One tip is that when you're shopping, 03:40
especially if you're shopping sales, 03:41
be sure to check your items one by one 03:43
as they're ringing them up. 03:46
Don't trust the register, especially if inventory 03:47
is moving quickly and they're marking things down, 03:50
things can be missed. 03:52
Or, something might have been put on a sale rack 03:53
that is actually full-price. 03:55
And don't be afraid to take something off 03:57
if it isn't the price you were thinking it was. 03:59
Be sure to check stickers on similar items. 04:02
Here's a perfect example, I was at Gap 04:05
and I was looking at the sale rack, 04:06
and I saw two shirts that were identical. 04:08
Well, obviously one of them 04:10
had a very different price than the other. 04:12
Make sure you're getting the best deal on the item you want. 04:14
Get on email lists or texting lists. 04:17
Sure, nobody likes to be spammed, okay? 04:19
So open up a free Gmail account just for coupons and such. 04:21
And they send valuable coupons 04:26
that a lot of times are only available 04:28
to people on their email list or on their texting list. 04:29
And my last tip for moms is don't give up. 04:33
I know for me, I can't really shop 04:35
at the same stores I shopped at before I had kids, 04:37
so I'm always trying to find new styles 04:40
that fit my body type, new places to shop. 04:42
So just keep trying, don't give up, 04:45
and eventually you will find greatness in your clothes. 04:47
There you go! 04:51
I know for me, I've already been able to take advantage 04:52
of some serious January sales. 04:54
Hopefully you have too. 04:56

To see more from moi, go here, 05:00
and, of course, don't forget to subscribe to this channel. 05:02
Let me know your favorite place to shop 05:05
in the comments below, and I will see you guys so soon! 05:06
(kissing sound) 05:09

Gap
