Hi Easy English Learners. 00:00
We're out here on the streets of Old Town Alexandria 00:01
just outside of Washington D.C. 00:05
And we're gonna be asking people what they would do 00:06
if they won the lottery 00:09
and how this would change their life. 00:10
So we hope to get a lot of good answers 00:11
and we hope you all follow along and enjoy it. 00:13
Okay so the question today is... 00:26
What would you do if you won the lottery? 00:28
Wow! You guys start. That's you guys. 00:31
Well if I won the lottery I would definitely want to 00:34
be able to travel to see the world 00:37
and see different communities and how they live and 00:38
um... just be able to experience a life beyond our 00:40
country and our city that we live in now. 00:43
I don't know... have... have some fun but try to 00:44
show some restraint too 00:47
and kinda plan for the long haul. 00:48
Cause that what I hear is... 00:49
is a problem with lottery winners. 00:50
Give some to my family and then I would build a school 00:52
for kids with special needs. 00:56
I would take a trip around the world. - First class! 00:58
First class! 01:03
Um... I would travel the world. 01:05
And help people. I'd donate money as well... 01:07
to different causes. 01:10
Um... I think I'd buy uh... 01:11
I'd get some hookers and a lot of cocaine. -Ay! 01:13
I'm joking! I'm joking! 01:18
But uh... seriously uh... I think I would... 01:19
I'd buy a private jet... a nice house and I'd go party. 01:22
Um... donate to either to like... foster charities or 01:24
orphanages around the world. 01:27
Um... I think it's important to help children that 01:29
can't really help themselves. 01:31
You can donate my portion. -yeah! 01:32
Oh boy... okay... 01:35
I think I'd buy a place in the mountains first. 01:37
And then maybe do some good in the world as well. 01:40
I'd pay off my tuition first. -Amen 01:44
And then I would try to do a lot of charity work 01:47
in South America. 01:50
Um... Pay off my student debt. 01:51
- Oh I don't have student loans... so I don't have to... 01:52
And I'd give some to family and friends. 01:54
- Same thing. 01:58
Uh... Pay off her student loans. - Yeah... 01:58
I should do that too. 02:01
And um... Donate heavily to my church. 02:03
Once I got past the selfish part of traveling 02:07
and seeing some of the world I would definitely uh... 02:09
help the family and extended family. 02:12
I mean of course I have to be the greedy one... 02:14
and be like... Well you know I'd get a... 02:16
First I'd get myself a really nice fast car. 02:18
And then I'd... And a nice motorcycle. 02:20
And then I'd use the motorcycle and do a world tour 02:22
of the United States... or uh... 02:24
round tour of the United States on... on a motorcycle. 02:25
Cause I think it'd be awesome. 02:28
I'd get him a motorcycle and take him with me. 02:29
(strong southern U.S. accent) I'd probably take a vacation. 02:31
And how do you think this would change your life... 02:49
having all this financial wealth? 02:51
Um... You would think that it would be really great... 02:53
I mean... having a lot of money. 02:56
But I'm sure it comes with a lot of problems. 02:57
You know... I'm sure people would come outta nowhere... 02:59
You know... try to get something... You know... 03:02
Find... Become my friend or try to get something from me. 03:04
So... It could probably be a little bit of added pressure 03:07
I would think. 03:09
Money is always an issue. So... 03:10
And plus it would help all my children. 03:12
(British accent) I don't think it would change our life at all. 03:14
No... In fact... we'd wonder what to do with it all. 03:16
And it'd be a problem. 03:20
(strong southern U.S. accent) It would uh... 03:21
It would lose... It would cost us our privacy - yes 03:23
probably. And I wouldn't like that. 03:26
Um... I wouldn't have to worry about bills... my morgage. 03:29
Just need somebody to take care of her so I can travel. 03:33
I... I... I know people get like... too like... 03:36
carried away with that... 03:38
That's why I would rather do something that's not like... 03:39
more for like... me I guess. Cause then... 03:42
I don't wanna get into the whole like... 03:44
go crazy over the money thing. 03:47
There'd be a little less stress. 03:49
Well... I'd hope it would be a positive influence and 03:52
not... not be too bad but... and make me uh... 03:55
more selfish but I hope that I could use it 03:58
to help other people. 04:01
That's a good question. I mean maybe I'll be happier 04:02
cause I'll be able to do things I wanna do... you know. 04:04
I won't have student debt. 04:06
I'll be able to own a business. 04:07
I'll be able to help others in my life. 04:09
I think that I would have relatives 04:11
coming out of the woodwork... that all of a sudden 04:12
would decide I'm their favorite cousin... 04:14
their favorite niece... their favorite Aunt and Uncle. 04:17
And um... I would have to go in hiding for a little bit. 04:20
Just to... you know... keep a low profile. 04:24
- I would be one of those people. 04:27
You would come find me? -Just so you know. 04:28
Okay... Well I will remember you... Okay? 04:29
Uh... I'd be funner (more fun). 04:32
It'd be nice to have that much money. 04:34
