Friends, hello and welcome to a new episode of Français by Alex. So,

how can I improve my French? How can I improve my French? How

to speak French fluently? How to speak French without

getting stuck? How to improve your mastery of French? All these

are questions I receive regularly via Instagram messages or even on YouTube.

Today I’ll suggest an exercise to try to answer these

questions. In what form? Well,

with useful questions in French, questions for conversation in French that I’ll present as a reading.

You’ll see, I’ll ask you to listen and repeat these sentences in French after me,

because repeating sentences in French, like that, hearing a voice you

might know a little — mine, in this case — well,

it can be very effective for learning new vocabulary, for your pronunciation,

for improving your French. Speaking, all that, is positive for your learning.

So, how to ask the right questions when you’re traveling in France, for example? Or

maybe you already live in France or in a French‑speaking country, obviously. Well,

that’s today’s topic, through four different contexts: at the supermarket when you

do the shopping, at the hotel, at the restaurant or in a store to buy clothes,

for example. Four scenarios today, each with questions. You’ll see,

we’ll recap at the end of this video, and you’ll tell me what you think.

First scenario: We are in a shop

Do you make gift packages? It’s for a present.

Do you have this model in another colour? – Is it possible to exchange or refund

this item if I change my mind? – Which product would you recommend as a

typically French souvenir? – I’m unsure about the size.

Are there fitting rooms? – Second scenario: We are doing groceries,

in a supermarket or a grocery store – Is this product made locally?

What time does the market or store

close? Are you open on Mondays? – Could you help me find a

gluten‑free or lactose‑free product?

Do you accept card payments? – Do you have a reusable bag or should I

buy one?

Third scenario: We are at the hotel, with questions related to the stay

Is it possible to extend my stay by one more night?

Do you have a city map or guide to help me get oriented?

Could you book me a taxi or a shuttle to the airport?

Is breakfast included in the room rate?

Where can I find information about spa services or the gym?

Fourth scenario: We are going to eat, at a restaurant

Could you explain the difference between these two dishes on the menu?

Would it be possible to have a vegetarian version of this dish?

Which wine would you recommend to accompany the main course?

Is it possible to share a dish between two people?

Les amis, bonjour et bienvenue dans ce  nouvel épisode du Français by Alex. Alors,  

comment améliorer mon français ? Comment  je peux améliorer mon français ? Comment  

parler français avec fluidité ?  Comment parler le français sans  

bloquer ? Comment améliorer votre  maîtrise du français ? Tout ça,  

ce sont des questions que je reçois régulièrement  en message sur Instagram ou même sur YouTube.

Je vais vous proposer aujourd'hui un  exercice pour essayer de répondre à ces  

questions. Sous quelle forme ? Eh bien,  avec des questions utiles en français,  

des questions pour la conversation en français  que je vais vous proposer sous forme de lecture.  

Vous allez voir, je vais vous demander d'écouter  et de répéter ces phrases en français après moi,  

parce que répéter des phrases en français,  comme ça, que vous écoutez d'une voix que  

vous connaissez peut-être un petit peu  — la mienne, en l'occurrence — eh bien,  

ça peut s'avérer très efficace pour apprendre du  nouveau vocabulaire, pour votre prononciation,  

pour améliorer votre français. Parler, tout  ça, c'est positif dans votre apprentissage.

Alors, comment poser les bonnes questions quand  vous êtes en voyage en France, par exemple ? Ou  

peut-être que vous habitez déjà en France ou  dans un pays francophone, évidemment. Eh bien,  

c'est le sujet aujourd'hui, au travers de quatre  différents contextes : au supermarché quand vous  

faites les courses, à l'hôtel, au restaurant  ou dans un magasin pour acheter des vêtements,  

par exemple. Quatre scénarios aujourd'hui, avec  des questions à chaque fois. Vous allez voir,  

on fait le point à la fin de cette vidéo,  et vous me direz ce que vous en pensez.

Premier scénario : Nous sommes dans un magasin 

Est-ce que vous faites des paquets  cadeaux ? C'est pour offrir. 

Avez-vous ce modèle dans une autre couleur ? Est-il possible d'échanger ou de rembourser  

cet article si je change d'avis ? Quel produit recommandez-vous comme  

souvenir typiquement français ? J'ai un doute sur la taille.  

Est-ce qu'il y a des cabines d'essayage ? Deuxième scénario : Nous allons faire des courses,  

dans un supermarché ou dans une épicerie Est-ce que ce produit est  

fabriqué dans la région ? À quelle heure le marché ou le magasin  

ferme-t-il ? Êtes-vous ouvert le lundi ? Pourriez-vous m'aider à trouver un  

produit sans gluten ou sans lactose ? 

Est-ce que vous acceptez les paiements par carte ? Avez-vous un sac réutilisable ou dois-je  

en acheter un ? 

Troisième scénario : Nous allons à  l'hôtel, avec des questions liées au séjour 

Est-il possible de prolonger mon  séjour d'une nuit supplémentaire ? 

Avez-vous une carte ou un plan de  la ville pour m'aider à me repérer ? 

Pourriez-vous me réserver un taxi  ou une navette pour l'aéroport ? 

Est-ce que le petit-déjeuner est  inclus dans le tarif de la chambre ? 

Où puis-je trouver des informations sur  les services de spa ou la salle de sport ? 

Quatrième scénario : Nous  allons manger, au restaurant 

Pourriez-vous m'expliquer la différence  entre ces deux plats au menu ? 

Serait-il possible d'avoir une  version végétarienne de ce plat ? 

Quel vin recommandez-vous pour  accompagner ce plat principal ? 

Est-il possible de partager  un plat entre deux personnes ? 

Pouvez-vous me  

dire si ce dessert contient des noix ? Voilà ! Est-ce que ce nouveau format vous  

a plu, les amis ? Si c'est le cas, les petits  pouces sont les bienvenus, et je vous invite,  

en commentaire de cette vidéo, à m'indiquer  ce que vous préférez comme scénario. Est-ce  

que vous voulez que je fasse une leçon,  une vidéo spécifique pour le restaurant,
