--Hey, y'all! My name is Desi Oakley,
00:12
and I play Jenna
Hunterson in the national tour of
00:15
Waitress and you are watching episode 7
of Pie a la Road. In this episode, we
00:16
celebrate Nick Bailey's birthday. You
will meet some other members of the cast
00:21
who share their two truths in a pie. And
you will meet a very special guest.
00:26
y'all! We are in Fort Worth, Texas this week. And
00:32
we just found out that we will not be
able to go to Louisville next week
00:35
because of a fire that happened to the
theater there at the Kentucky Performing
00:40
Arts Center, and we are just devastated.
So we want you to know on behalf of the
00:45
national tour of Waitress that we are so
sorry we can't bring this amazing story
00:52
to you in Louisville, to our Louisville
community.
00:55
So yeah, the the tour will be taking a
week break, and yeah we just wanted to
00:58
say we're so sorry that we can't be
there. We're all bummed. We were all
01:06
looking forward to being there
that's absolutely for sure. So just a
01:09
shout out to Louisville. We love you.
--Hi I'm Kyra Kennedy
01:12
--Okay and what do you
01:15
do in Waitress on tour?
-- I'm Francine and I
01:16
understudy Jenna and Dawn.
01:19
--Beautiful amazing. So we're playing two
truths in a pie which means you tell us
01:22
two truths about yourself and then your
pie can be a little slice of advice or a
01:27
little slice of life.
01:31
Okay your two truths
-- I'm from Oklahoma
01:32
--And I love cats, but that doesn't mean I'm
anti dog. I like them both. My pie...
01:36
--What's your little
-- Leave you with advice that my mother
01:44
gave me which is nobody is
01:48
all good, and nobody is all bad.
01:49
--Oh, I love that.
--Yeah she's a she's a good one.
01:52
--That was it something that your mom
taught you?
01:55
I love that no one is all good and
no one is all bad.
01:57
--Okay Betsy Ross. We are
02:01
playing two truths and a pie
02:01
--Okay
-- So two truths about yourself. They can be
02:04
little-known are very well known and
then a little pie like we have a lot of
02:06
aspiring actors and actresses and or
people don't want to work in this
02:08
business, who view this this vlog. And
yeah give us a little give a give
02:11
us your go. What's your two truths and a pie?
--Well, I made the first American flag... I'm
02:16
just kidding. I'm going to answer as myself.
02:20
--Okay I am from the valley
in Los Angeles, so I am a real-life
02:26
--Yes you are
--My favorite food is Thai food. And a a two truths
02:32
but now my pie
--Your little like something just I know a
02:38
little even like even how you got to be
where you are now. I mean just like
02:41
--Okay I got one I got one.
02:46
moderation, even moderation..
02:50
ensemble. I'm Jerrianne Perez, and I understudy
03:00
Francine, Nurse Norma, and Dawn
--Yes amazing
03:05
tell us two little things about yourself
they can be little-known or very well
03:09
known, and then your pie which is your
little slice of life or slice of advice.
03:11
We have a lot of aspiring you know
actors and actresses that watch this
03:14
vlog, of course, and you know maybe or
even just a little slice of how you got
03:20
to where you are. So let's play
--Cool. Two truths... I have three Huskies that look
03:24
like direwolf's from Game of Thrones.
03:27
moved around a bunch, pie... ah self love pie
03:34
on the two on tour that are like self
love for yourself?
03:40
and watch a little TV a while you soak
--Love it.
03:54
--Thank you Jerrianne thanks for playing you
rock
--Of course, thanks you guys. Mwah
04:00
what do you do with Waitress on tour?
--I'm Bryan Fenkhart, I'm Dr. Pommater
04:04
on tour
--Lovely okay so we're playing
04:10
you tell us two truths about yourself.
They can be fun facts or something silly
04:13
or really cool about you or anything
and then your little pie just like the
04:16
but I've been a professional wrestling
fan since I was 10, and still am,
04:24
which if you know my age is pretty
embarrassing. Another truth... I one time I
04:28
what did you know my age is pretty
embarrassing another truth I one time I
04:31
elbow, and then I kept shooting for the
rest of the day
04:38
I was trying something stupid that I
shouldn't have tried.
04:41
without like your head going through the
roof?
--Yeah well I didn't know I didn't
04:46
know I broken it yet, until I couldn't
pick up a bottle of water and then I realized it
04:51
really tough.
--I guess. Or stupid
04:54
really tough I'm impressed with that information.
05:00
--So, now give us a little like slice of life this is your little pie which means you know anything
05:06
younger self or or an aspiring artist?
05:09
You just said something
05:13
my younger self Man like I know this
isn't gonna really register probably
05:20
but don't worry about being popular. It
really doesn't matter. I know it seems so
05:23
but don't worry about being popular it
really doesn't matter I know it seems so
05:25
of your life at all. Really, if anything, you should
05:30
of your life
at all really if anything you should
05:33
else. You know instead of trying to fit
in, try to stand out.
05:36
our friend Bailey has made me. This is a
custom-made pop doll by just a pop and
05:40
it is a personalized Jenna doll I'm
losing my mind!
05:44
and she has a bang.
05:54
--I hope I know everybody in another 31
years!
--31?
06:02
--Okay y'all it is my pleasure to
introduce to you our very special guests
06:33
here on paella Road ladies and gentlemen
drum roll please welcome Jenna Hunterson
06:49
--No no my pleasure thanks for having me.
06:54
here. So yeah what's your name and what
do you do?
07:02
I work at a pie diner, Joe's pie's diner
we serve a bunch of different pies and
07:08
make the pie's and I also wait the tables you know great the customers and
07:14
take the orders and do all that stuff,
too.
--So what do you do for fun?
07:20
you do for a living. What do you do for
fun?
07:33
--Okay well Becky dragged me do it karaoke
bar once. That was fun. I'm a terrible
07:38
singer I'm a terrible singer. She's a
good singer though she's sang a Mariah
07:40
Carey song and blew us out of the water. That was fun once. Um I don't know I play
07:48
Carey song and blew us out of the water
that was fun was Once.
07:52
I don't know I play
07:56
--So do you have a beauty
routine? Take us through kind of what you
07:59
do for your beauty rituals?
08:02
--Oh, what?
--Like a beauty routine
08:05
--A beauty routine okay
08:08
no I mean I use a bar soap in the shower
and I put lotion on my face if it's dry
08:09
Dawn gave me this chapstick but she
bought that like saves Turtles or
08:17
something, I guess if you bought a tube
of chapstick it saves a turtle, and so
08:22
I'll use that sometimes smells good
08:26
--So
take us through a typical day in the
08:28
life of Jenna Hunterson.
what is what does that look like? Typical
08:30
day for me. Let's see I wake up around
6:00 a.m. each day I make Earl coffee,
08:33
make his lunch, and if he eats it. He
sometimes just picks up Taco Bell
08:38
instead but that's alright make it
anyway, and I get to work around 7:00
08:45
he'll drop me off,
unless it's Tuesday's I'll take the bus.
08:49
And then I'm in the pantry right away. I
make anywhere between 7 to 15 pies each
08:52
day we
have 27 out for everyone, and so just
09:00
depends on the pies, if they last
anywhere between two to five days and
09:04
yeah so I make making them all and I
work I work most of the day till around
09:10
4:00 and get home and clean up whatever
mess Earl made and you know make dinner
09:15
and go to bed do it all over again the
next day.
09:20
--And how did you meet your
09:25
--Yeah I met Earl in high school
he was playing in the band, and after
09:29
school my friend Mandy dragged me to one
of his shows, and we met and he was
09:34
playing the guitar. He was cute, yeah
that's how we met. The rest is history.
09:39
--Do you have any advice for any aspiring
pie makers? Maybe pie makers that kind of
09:45
want to be as good as you are?
09:52
--Advice for pie makers. Well, okay if you
09:54
want a flaky crust you need to use
ice-cold water instead of just regular
09:58
tap room temperature water. That's what
makes it happen when you pour it in to
10:02
start making the dough with the flour.
It's gotta be ice-cold that's what makes
10:06
it the flakiest. My mama would kill me
cuz that's her secret.
10:08
--Okay do you have a
10:12
--I can't have a favorite pie.
10:16
--Come on yes you have to have a favorite
10:17
or one that you're really proud of or
something come on what's your favorite
10:20
--Um, if I did I don't know... I have a
pie I was most proud of. There's the
10:25
middle school I made it.
Those were some hard years. It was called
10:32
the invisible cream pie and I used
evaporated milk.
--What would you say if I
10:38
told you that there would be a musical
written about you and your life?
10:42
--If someone what? Made a musical about me? That's crazy.
10:47
Like singing and stuff? yeah like a musical
like you know if someone just wrote a
10:54
musical about you well what would what
would you say?
-- I don't know. I guess I'd
11:00
hope it'd be about pie
11:05
--So with a lot of
people recently I've been playing this
11:07
game to truths and a pie which is what I
kind of telling you about before we
11:10
started this interview, and I was
wondering if you wanted to play. So the
11:14
two truths in a pie are kind of two
things about yourself and then a little
11:18
pie is like a little slice of advice. So
what are your two truths?
11:23
--Two truths and a pie okay um... a truth? I'm an only child. Another truth, I started a fire in
11:29
Joe's pie diner once. It was so small and
I'll put it out immediately but I have
11:41
not told anybody that,
not even Becky. It was I just had lost
11:45
track of time
on one of the pies and it was anyway I
11:51
put it out and everything's fine. Um slice
of life slice of advice?
11:54
--Yeah what's like some advice that you
you know have been given or that you
12:00
would give you know to somebody else?
Just a little slice of life.
12:05
My mama always said hold those that are
dear to you close, and be kind.
12:09
-- I think that was really lovely Jenna Louise
Hunterson
12:16
you are a gem and we are so grateful
that you could join us on Pie A La Road
12:19
thank you for taking the time out of
your very busy schedule to answer some
12:23
questions. I think that everyone's gonna
really enjoy all of your answers, and so
12:26
we're really grateful thank you for
joining us.
12:30
--Hey y'all thank you so much for watching
Pie A la Road it is so much fun to take
12:32

12:42

12:47

12:52

12:56
bit more and we're gonna wrap up this
series. Thank you guys so much for
13:01
watching. See you next time.
